The magic exams slow things down a bit for me. A lot of overly explaining rules and magic stuff that wasn't always so interesting.
But the battles themselves were entertaining and it still had the heart of this series which is simple human interactions meaning a whole lot at every turn. It helped the humor kicked back up by the end and I was smiling the whole way through the last two chapters. A 4 out of 5.
