First few pages I was unsure if this was for me. I mean this felt like a book aimed at teenagers (girls specifically) and that's not a bad thing. It's just that's what it aims for. Except it somehow crossed over to universal feel because by the end I really loved all the characters.
It follows three female college students and their daily life. That could be real interesting, and what benefits this story is the over the top humor and it makes you attached to all the characters. At the same time they feel very real, and when the emotional parts hit, it really does it well.
I also love the art. It feels almost like a adult version of a Saturday cartoon. Does that make sense? I dunno but it really fits the themes here which can range from growing up to adult mature themes. I also think they nail friendship well, not all "you're the best" and "I love you" like most books, a lot of conflict, but conflict that WORKS.
So overall if want something different, I'd say more in the same vain as Archie (new one) so check it out and read till the end, sure you'll enjoy!

This was pretty good!
Babs is kind of hot here...is that weird? Probably. How old is she? Is she out of HS atleast? I hope so.
Anyway that out of the way. I really enjoyed most of year one. It was just a cool way to see how Babs transforms into Batgirl. All the little fuck ups, all the work to get to be a major part of the batfamily, all the success and even her own villains. It stayed interesting throughout with some solid art as well. Also her and Dick are so cute together. More please.
On flipside there's some bad here. Well not bad but not memorable. This was a fun story, a good introduction, but nothing beyond that. I don't think I remember any of the villains past a guy who looks like a moth and fire user. That's it. Also Gordan wasn't kind of dumb here for being one of the better detectives in the series.
Either way though a fun read, good and easy and far better than the New52 volume I read with Batgirl. Check it out!

Def more even than volume 1. Still not amazing but we're getting there.
The set up is great. Mantis is just pulling the strings and fucking everything up. The United States and Atlantis are at war thanks to him. Aquaman is trying to fix it but no one believes him. The political side to it all, the justice league moments, and the fight where Aquaman vs the deepwater monster are great.
The Mara subplot is just okay. I wish I cared more but I don't. I also hate how this wrapped up so nicely. We could have made this a two part arc where Aquaman has to fix things slowly not just beat the bad guy and it's all over. The last issue is a major letdown.
Overall though a fun title, easy to read, the art looks great. So if like Aquaman check this one out.

Still confused as ever, still intrigued as ever.
So we get a little bit of crazyness with the story. Back in time? Sure why the fuck now. We also get to see psycho crazy bitch actually kill more people. We get a flashback of asian delight. We get so many flashbacks, time traveling, and insane fucking plot points I honestly can't keep up. The language, dialog, over the top shit just makes this impossible to stop reading.
Still not a huge fan of the art though. Always just find it _OKAY_ but nothing more. Fun but wish for more distinct looks for everyone.
Anyway I will continue this story cause it's batshit fucking insane and I love it.

Every once in awhile I get a book that just blows my mind. I can't even remember a 5 out of 5 book in the last year or two (except Red Rising trilogy). So here it is, and man oh man did Old Man's War deliver.
John Perry is a old fart (not my words, his) and his wonderful wife has passed away. So what does he do? Sign up for the military. Oh, that sounds...odd. Oh but we're going to Space Baby!
Oh don't like Space? Don't worry me either. I mean don't get me wrong. I enjoy Star Wars, Ender's Game, and Mass Effect but overall Sci-fi in space isn't really my thing. Once in awhile I enjoy it but it just was never my preferred setting.
This book takes place 80% of the time in Space yet not ONCE did it bother me, get in the way, or hurt it in any way. You know why? The author doesn't give you boring details about the shape or color of each ship, or what gas they use to travel, or some boring ass shit like that. No, they give you just enough sci-fi to be intrigued but not overwhelmed. No, this story is deeper than that. It's about coming to terms with death, of growing old, of being alone, and second chances.
I loved that there was really no "love" story but connection instead. People connected in friendly ways (including fucking) but never silly 3 way love triangle, or love so strong you'll beat everything cause of i, no it all felt real. It was just so well done because the John and the rest of the cast.
The fights work so well because it's first person, you feel the pain, the fear, the bravery of John and then what he sees around him. It makes each battle exciting, no matter how one sided some are weather good or bad for the humans.
The pacing is near perfect. Giving you enough action, plot development, character development, and never overstaying its welcome. At around 330 pages it covers everything it needs to and gives you a finisher you'll love.
I know it's a series but like my friend told me, each book feels like it's own tale and though some connect you don't need to read on. I see that 100% because I felt completely satisfied when I was done with this book however I want more.
So yes, Old Man's War is worth reading right away. If you love space and sci-fi you'll love this. If you dislike space or don't care about it, still a great chance you'll LOVE this. So check it out, and hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as me!

Whoa, this might be one of my fave graphic novel first volumes ever. Right off the bat it starts off amazing.
So Dylan is a person who sees the world how it is. It's messy, dirty, and honestly shit. His political views and ideas actually coassign with mine. However I don't let that effect my like of a character. I disagree with half my favorite character's written ways and what they do. My main focus is having well MADE character's that reflect who they are not just what the author is and thinks. I think Ed and Nick Spencer do that well, and it shows well here.
I love the idea of this all. Dylan makes a deal with the devil and begins to go down a very dark road. Killing because it needs to be done. If he does not kill he'll be killed. So he goes through the trash of the world and tries to kill them all one by one. I love the fact Dylan is unsure if this "demon" is even real. Some fake shit he made up in his mind. I mean the questioning of it is good enough for me to believe what he believes.
I also love his unbalance result with the girl he loves. I mean he really loves her, but due to all the crazy shit happening it might not be the best time to act on it. Also she's fucking his roommate so it might not be a good idea in general.
My only complaint is sometimes too much inner monologue. I mean I do that too when i write, so I don't take off a big chunk, but it can be annoying.
Overall this is well worth the read. Both thrilling, exciting, and a bit scary. Kill or Be Killed is a Graphic Novel you should be checking out right FUCKING now!

What confusing writing. Also what a bland character. I found him more interesting in his seven pages in Grayson than here. Here he's all mighty, knows everything, can't lose. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I can't even recapture details about the story cause I was confused as hell. I didn't know what the hell was happening half the time. And when it settled down it added nothing to the character. His love life felt forced in, when we should have felt some type of connection or drama.
To have a badass main character who is openly gay sounds great but man oh man did this fail to do anything for me. Easily one of the worst comics I've read this year.

Well this volume was FAR more fun than the last one. This jumped up in quality for me.
The first half is Grant trying to right his wrongs. He goes to rescue Pia, and upon arriving ruins things, but in the end actually begins to fix things with his relationship with his daughter. It's nice to see progress there, and I loved learning about the world she was one, I did feel a bit of a cop out how quick was wrapped up but I was laughing so much during this arc.
Second arc isn't as strong but still solid. We're back in the real world and get to see the aftermath of Grant's wife and what happened. Somebody is back, someone betrays someone, and then it ends with a truly fucked up panel. It's a bit slow paced compared to arc before but still solid. This is still a fun series that I recommend as a whole.

Can we just take a moment to realize how awesome my wife is? When I told her I bought a audio book called "Rape Van" she laughed and said "Cool." Like yeah, this is what marriage is all about.
Anyway, let's talk about this book. Or Novella actually. It's not very good. Now that we got that out of the way let's discuss the good and bad.
Let's start off with the story itself. These two hippie looking mofos kidnap people in their van, sometimes rape them, and then kill them. Simple huh? This is backwoods, gore fest, over the top violence that you either can love or hate.
See I read a book a few years back titled "The Summer I Died" and I actually liked it. Same idea, same fucked up torture, same sexual violations. So why was it better? Because it had characters I can enjoy. Here? That's almost impossible to find.
Everyone is a piece of shit. No one is redemable. The people who are just die in mean spirited ways, which would be fine, if I cared when they died. I don't. They just get mulitated in terrible ways (rats eating you while alive, smashed in face while sucking a dick, bleach in the eyeballs) and yet I was yawning because anyone can make up great kills or most fucked up deaths, but I need characters to care about to let those deaths have meaning. This book failed to give that.
I give it a two because I did like the little twist, even if it was very predictable I still thought it was neat. They even address it here. I also liked a few of the kills.
However the rest of this book is just over the top, some really bad dialog, and the pacing is all over the place. The last few chapters turn into a action movie.
Overall it's a 2/5 and worth it only for die hard, backwoods, gore loving, horror fans. Everyone else stay far far away.

I read this volume 1 back in 2014 when first came out and loved it. Fast forward to 2017 and I read it again and guess what? I still f'ing love it!
The big ups in this series are tight and fun dialog (no pun intended) with a great idea. What if you fuck and after you cum you get to stop time? How awesome is that? That's like such a insane idea that sounds stupid yet works so damn well. On top of that you have wonderful characters who really connect and feel real. You get a cool plot of them trying to rob a bank but at the same time they do flashbacks to give you the inside look into their lives. The comedy stays upbeat and fun, some laugh out loud moments, wonderful human moments, and broken characters or inperfect characters who are done really well.
The only negative is sometimes it feels like taking forever to progress through the main story. However this series is slow build on plot and more about character development. For that it deserves a 4.5 easily.
