Giant Days Vol. 1
by John Allison, Whitney Cogar
First few pages I was unsure if this was for me. I mean this felt like a book aimed at teenagers (girls specifically) and that's not a bad thing. It's just that's what it aims for. Except it somehow crossed over to universal feel because by the end I really loved all the characters.
It follows three female college students and their daily life. That could be real interesting, and what benefits this story is the over the top humor and it makes you attached to all the characters. At the same time they feel very real, and when the emotional parts hit, it really does it well.
I also love the art. It feels almost like a adult version of a Saturday cartoon. Does that make sense? I dunno but it really fits the themes here which can range from growing up to adult mature themes. I also think they nail friendship well, not all "you're the best" and "I love you" like most books, a lot of conflict, but conflict that WORKS.
So overall if want something different, I'd say more in the same vain as Archie (new one) so check it out and read till the end, sure you'll enjoy!
