This was interesting.
I wanted to like it more. I think maybe it's made for teenagers (which I can get behind, love Nova and Ms Marvel is fun) but I just couldn't get sucked in to this one for some odd reason. Maybe didn't love any character, or the pacing felt odd at times, or a bit cliche and easy to see coming moments.
On the flipside the artwork is unique and quite good. I also liked some of the character's action and a surprise here and there. The atmosphere is unique and different and I have to say I did like the monsters designs.
This could be better, and it probably will get better. It feels like a big "Epic" scope that takes a few volumes to get going. I'll give it that!

I still think this has better ideas than the execution given.
So what did I like? I still enjoy the artwork. Especially the kills or death hits, they look like some Injustice/Mortal Kombat shit. I also liked the idea of Logan protecting his future love and it not being...too creepy? Maybe. it's still kind of creepy. Logan, poor old logan, you have a weird life. Still, found the scenes sweet. I also liked him tearing through fuckers like they bitches cause he wolvie and that's how he rolls.
What I didn't like? This brooding Logan. I don't mind self-reflection or thought, it's just so much negativity. I was getting annoyed. I'm glad the last issue began turning that around. Also fuck the villains, so cliche it hurt. So over the top it made me laugh when they all came to track down logan. Seemed to convenient.
So I'ma give this one a 3 out of 5 cause it's still entertaining, just like the first volume, but also filled with dumb moments. I will continue though. Current all New Wolverine is better though. I should get back on that.

I know a lot of people hate Year Four but I found it pretty entertaining. I mean people doing stupid shit for no reason but still.
There's moments of true stupid as fuck moments. One being with Seristo. It makes no sense and it adds nothing to the story beyond "Oh another save" moment. I also dislike how they made everyone just rush into fighting without seeing any sense in it.
However the fights themselves are entertaining. Watching Wonder Women face off against Superman is fun and exciting. I also like that Shazam gets to really show off how powerful he is. I just wish there was more "fucked up" moments you come to expect after Year 1-2. I think 3 and 4 have been tame in comparison.
Overall it's fun but since year 3 the series hasn't been as good. Still entertaining though. I'll be reading volume 2 soon!

Such a shame. If Brian had two more issues this could have been a classic IMO.
The story of Logan meeting a racist piece of shit army boy who wants to kill "japs" and then befriends a beautiful Asian lady and then the aftermath of it all is well done but very rushed. You feel like if they built on this, let this story flow for two more issues, give more background to all the characters this could have been amazing.
The art is solid throughout and the fights are both bloody and scary. It's entertaining to say the least. I also really loved the scenery as it changed with the emotion of the characters and always seemed to fit the moments that were happening on screen.
This is def worth the read though you will probably feel the same as me and wish it was longer. That's it's only fault. Check it out though, worth a read for sure if you enjoy Wolvie.

What a odd collection. Why end it on a major turning point for miles only for it to go into Spider-men (Which is Peter for 616 and miles meeting) it's really stupid.
Regardless the origins of Miles is great. It talks to the fans in a way we understand. We get it, Peter will never be replaced. He will always be Spider-man. However, this change didn't feel forced or badly done. Infact Peter's death is one of my favorite deaths of comics of all time. So seeing Miles take up the mantel was great.
The best part is they made two villains no one cares about awesome. Got Scorpian being a actually scary Kingpin type and then you got Prowler, Miles' uncle going around stealing stuff and being a horrible influence on his newphew. Miles deals with both as well as his own family issues and best friend. It's a lot to take in and watching him try to work it all out is both interesting and fun.
Now we also get Spider-men in this collection and this isn't nearly as good. The meet up is silly, and the reasoning is stupid, even if getting to see Peter and Miles interact is fun. The actual background story is dumb and I don't think Bendis writes 616 Spider-man all that great. Love his Ultimate Peter but not this one as much. I also think the ending leaves a big "WHAT IS IT" but it never gets covered and never will cause Secret Wars has Miles in the main universe now.
The side story aside the origins is very much worth reading. I like Miles and he's funny but a different type of funny from Peter. If you want the old school Spider-man feel back I'd advise checking this out.

My main issue with stories like this and Ready Player One is the books talk to you like you're stupid.
I hate being explained to about the obvious stuff here. I also hate when exposition is just thrown in because they can't show it, which should be even easier with a comic, and just tell you this is how it is and how you should feel instead of letting the reader enjoy. Also there's some great issues this count have tackled but instead just went softly by the themes or ideas of online gaming and overall was very sad they didn't try harder there.
The art is solid enough, if a bit plain, and the ending was cheesy yet cute. Overall it's decent, and aimed at a younger audience than myself, but I expected a lot better from it. So many great subjects to touch on and instead just let it slip through their fingers.

So I read Ultimate X-Men growing up. I think it was my first big "X-Men" world to read. It was my first major run I had every volume for. I stopped reading when it hit volume 18. So I decided to re-read it more than 10 years later. Well...this ages not too well haha.
There are things to love. The art is solid throughout. I also enjoyed the changes in personality for certain characters. I especially like how Storm don't give a fuck, and Beast is both badass and smart, and Magneto even more "sinister" than before. I also think the action is well paced and fun to view and well placed throughout.
Now the bad. The designs of a certain characters are pretty bad. Especially logan's clothes. I also dislike how obvious things are, like Jean falling for Wolverine, and they have the cliche of Scott looking out the window, and then behind the scenes Wolverine is smiling. Beyond fucking corny. Also the edge is strong here, and everyone insults EVERYONE. Very out of character even if these are new takes on beloved characters.
Overall if you want a more edgy, early 2000, "badass" X-Men then check this out. It's not horrible but it sure feels like early 2000. So on to the next one!

This will be short and easy. It's a blockbuster like film of Wolverine taking on a bunch of our favorite heroes. Stupid yet fun. Nothing more really needs to be said. If like over the top action and Wolverine being the savage mutant to the extreme this is for you.
Only could read half way...shit sucks ass. Shitty characters, bad dialog, horrible world building...just garbage.
This is almost like a Swan Song for Jessica Jones. It wrapped itself up pretty nicely in the original run. This feels a lot...lighter.
There's still great moments to be had with the character. Her giving birth, the party with the Avengers, gotta love the mystery of what's happening to Luke, and her telling JJ to go fuck himself. There's also great moment with Spider-man and Ben that really hits some great emotional moments. I really enjoyed those aspects of this huge book.
On flip side this doesn't feel as gritty or real life as the original run did. Also it doesn't really feel like a JJ book but more general look at the marvel universe in New York. It's fun but very very different that what I had come to expect with JJ as the main character (or somewhat main here). It took awhile to get into the flow of things.
Still worth reading for sure. Not AS strong as the original run Bendis did but still a nice little send off to a great character. Now let's hope her come back is as strong.
