A cool little spin on Jason. Basically he's training a girl who wants to be the next robin. It's fun, little cute, but I dunno if it's super important when it comes to the mythology of Batman White Knight universe.

Great stuff.

Basically our favorite serial killer is back, Corinthian, and he wants to find out what's happening with a girl named Madison when she draws a man with teeth as eyes...which would be the Corinthian. This leads him to try and figure out what's happening but two others, Mr. Agony and Ecstasy come in to try and murder her. Leading through a bloody good time.

The first 5 issues cover the main story. Corinthian always was a interesting character to me and kind of a sad one created by Dreaming and also dismantled by him too after he started killing. This leads to a new version of the character but a even more interesting one. Madison is a strong and fun lead and her ending is only the start. I will say the issue 6 feels disjointed and a bit too meta but the ending does set up something interesting.

I feel like every single slice of life/romance manga has to have a school competition arc lol.

The arc itself is decent. Just has Hori and Miyamura going against each other. It's pretty cute, and of course it's always nice to see Miyamura make Hori blush. Then Miyamura past comes back to him when a old classmate shows up to try to mend things. The best part probably is Miyamura trying to secretly get a gift for Hori and Hori thinking she did something wrong the whole time he's being in secret.

Overall cute chapter but not as strong as some of the other volumes.

Still great but It's closer to a 4.5 for me. The Gordon and Bruce back and forth is just SO damn good. The weakest part is still the Catwoman origin, just not as interesting. Everything else? SO DAMN GOOD.

Old Review: This isn't the first time I read Year One. It's actually one of the only DC books I did read when I was young. However, it's been over ten years and I was like I have to re-read it to see if I still enjoy it. As you can tell with my score, it's pretty obvious.

Have you've ever seen Batman Begins? A lot of the one/feel of that movie owes to this. Even basically taking the ending right out of the pages of this book. This is really two stories, two origins, in one. It focuses on Bruce becoming Batman and Gordan becoming Commissioner. You can see how vastly different they are yet how similar they COULD be. It's actually a ballsy move when you title it "Batman" and have Gordan probably have more page time.

What I liked: Everything to do with Gordan is great. From him being a honorable cop to a shitty husband. To siding with Batman at times, while challenging his views too. Also gotta love how smart Gordan is and knows who Batman is but that's not important, but more important to keep some hope in Gotham. Bruce origins has been told a million times, but back then, this was pretty great way to get into Batman.

What I didn't like: Some of the faces and such a mushy. I also think the Catwoman subplot is really really boring.

Overall, it's a perfect comic to jump into and enjoy. It has the Batman tone you've come to love, two well told stories, and solid art most of the time. Sure Catwoman is just a add on but everything else in the book is pretty impressive.

The weakest volume so far.

The start is explaining the trust and who they are. Having a meeting but getting the point of view of the leader's son. It's just not that interesting, not horrible, but not all that satisfying the outcome. It does become better once we leave them and go into a story of going across the boarder to smuggle stuff, but in the end, neither story blew me away it's just decent.

A 3 out of 5.

When a Private Eye Detective gets deep into the world of a 100 bullets.

While it's still not a 4 star again, this is a stronger volume than the last. Our main character, the detective, is interesting enough to carry a six part storyline. I will say I enjoyed the actual mystery but I called the betrayal from a mile away. It was so easy to see. However, the shocking ending is a nice surprise, and reminded me of how brutal this series can get.

I do miss the simple tales, the 100 bullets case tales, because they created situations I was intrigued by on top of having a cool backstory to it all. I hope we get back to that eventually. A 3.5 out of 5.

I had watched old boy ages ago and enjoyed it's dark and cynical view on the world and a revenge tale worth watching. This one lacks all of that, the tone being way different, kind of goofy, without a character I can back. A 2 out of 5.

I have to say I went into this without knowing a thing and came out enjoying it quite a bit.

Basically it's about a troubled girl, Mari, who has violent tendencies and no family to help her. Getting tossed around to different groups and families. Eventually she finds a family with Joanna and her husband. Jonna is a ex-Muay Thai champion. Joanna slowly helps Mari transform herself by using her anger to learn constructive fighting techniques.

But of course a big bad piece of shit comes along and feeds into Mari's insecurities till she's fighting for the wrong reasons.

My main beef with the book is how fast everything moves. Because the dialogue and characters are all top notch but the way we move into the next story beat is sometimes WAY too fast, not letting us grow with them. I wish this was a good 5-80 pages longer to expand that part of the story.

But art wise, characters, and sweet tender moments make this a lot of fun. A 3.5 but I'll bump it to a 4.

Overly complicated and wordy, volume 2 brings down the whole thing for me. Some interesting bits about the shadows and how to kill them, but the needlessly long dribble about if we should and shouldn't kill a certain one, the fan service and panty/naked shots, and overall drag on feeling this volume has makes me think this series is just not for me.
