Venom is trying too much with saying very little.

I enjoy both writers work but they seem extremely disconnected here in this title. Dylan doing whatever with Venom as his weapon, and it's kind of just dull. And you have Eddie still traveling through time and shit and it's not very good or interesting. The art, which I usually enjoy Hitch, feels a bit stiff too. Overall, it's readable, but just boring if I'm being honest. A far cry from Cates much stronger run.

A kind of boring story with art that doesn't match the tone.

I will say I'm a fan of Ben but the dude just doesn't get a lot of quality stories. This one included. J.M. Demetteis is a fine writer but he does nothing special with Ben here. Ben just goes on moping about his life, not doing much, wondering if he can fit in or have a normal life. It's just a rehash of everything that came before with not many interesting twist or perspectives to help make it feel fresh. One good thing is the art is solid but the depressing tone for Ben doesn't seem to match the overall story it's telling.

The birth of another West. Fun but like most of this run feels safe and a bit boring at times. Ready for a new writer.

A weaker volume than I would have liked. The stuff with Miles dad just isn't all that interesting. They did it in a way I just couldn't be invested at all. It really slows down the momentum of the entire book sadly.

Luckily the end of Green Goblin is entertaining and the dude sure as hell murders a ton of people, truly a gigantic piece of shit. The stuff with Hydra is a nice surprise, and a fun way to end the Ultimate Spider-Man universe but not enough to say this is outstanding.

Meh

Miles had HUGE shoes to fill since Ultimate Spider-Man was soooo good for soooo long and luckily, thanks to have Bendis still on this title, he did so with ease.

We start with Miles super young, not even in High School yet, getting bit and learning how to use his powers. He at first doesn't want to be a hero, only saving someone in the moment. But when he witnesses the death of Peter, he knows what he must do. These opening issues really worked for me since Peter, who's also a teenager, just feels so much older with Miles feeling like such a young and inexperience kid at the start. But once he sees the original Spider-Man die, Miles uses that as motivation to pick up the mantle. Even saying if he used his powers then, Peter might still be alive on this day.

We then are thrown into the family mix. The supporting cast from his mother, to father, to especially his Uncle Aaron who turns out to be the prowler gets to mix MIles up in fun and interesting ways. Making him question if he's doing the right thing while trying to sort this superhero stuff out. It's great watching a multilayer character grow and it's not as simple as yes or no for Miles a lot of the time when making the choices. The arc with his uncle is both exciting, thanks to his uncle dynamic, but also the villain, the Scorpion, feels like a major threat that works on multiple levels.

Then we shift to Miles trying to help the Ultimates, which is this universes Avengers. It's a fun way to show how MIles will interact with other heroes and it's an exciting crossover. The best arc though for me in the entire volume is the Symbiot War arc. Which has Miles having to go head to head with Venom, and this venom wants Spider-Man more than anything. This leads to some fantastic fights and a devasting ending that has MIles grow up quicker than he'd like.

From there we do get more fun moments, including Miles getting a girlfriend and him working closer to other heroes like Cloak and Dagger. However things do get a bit worse as we go on as a return character really didn't sit well with me. It was handled well enough but honestly I'd prefer it never happened. The very last arc is also semi-weak, shifting the focus on MIles father in a boring backstory that didn't do really anything for me.

Saying that the overall quality of this Omnibus is great. It continues the trend of keeping high stakes but also intimate slice of life drama close to the characters to keep them relatable. Some of my favorite moments in the entire Ultimate Spider-Man line, including Peter's, is in this volume. If you want to get the know the origins of Miles, this is the book to grab.

It's not as strong as issue 1, but dtill damn good. Queen lost in his thoughts and confused makes this one interesting.

Alot of this kind of felt...boring for me.

Wally takes a seat at the start of this volume to give a novel like 100 pages to Barry and the history of him as Flash. But it's really dull and nothing really interested me about this story. Then we get back to Wally and he's getting attacked by the ultimate threat, one who can take away his speed force. One who can alter things. And I loved the Wedding stuff with Linda but soon after this major villain just didn't impress me. Some cool moments with Wally tricking him but it's overly long and convoluted.

Overall, I feel like Waid's run is losing steam here sadly.

This time less on the surprise murder and more focused on the industry.

Which actually works really well. I don't know shit about the Idol industry, nor did I care to learn. However, the way it is presented in the manga is both interesting and a bit sad. I also liked learning more about the TV industry and how it treats actors/people. Some good stuff there. This volume also has more funny bits that land and the art is still impressive. A 4 out of 5.

Oh damn this is far more my liking. Well the first volume had this but petered out, this one all the way was brutal and fun.

We have Wolverine to the rescue as he starts working on Blaze, taking out the disgusting demon deep in him. The shadow who is EXHUST is unleashed once out of Johnny and into the world. This is basically a cat and mouse game where Johnny is on the run and his shadow is hunting him while he works with this badass sexy chick to get answers.

Overall, a good time with an exciting ending. Check this one out!
