Static Shock: Trial by Fire

First four issues help build Static as kind of a silly dude who can fuck up a lot but has a good heart.
I did like the fact that he deals with a lot of issues from school, his mom, and then villains. It's very Spider-Man like but it also helps that static is a bit more of a loose cannon, doing things that might not be too smart, but thanks to who he is inside, really helps build him into a fun character. I didn't enjoy this one as much as Hardware or Icon but still dug it and give it a 3.5, I'll bump it to a 4!

Hard to follow with stiff art and repeated story beats. Also a terrible ending.
Art is pretty poor imo but the story is dark and twisted with a nice take on PDST. I can dig stuff like this.
It's a small firefight that looks cool with the aliens, but that's it... no story, really.
Re-read 2023 - Still echo my old 2018 review. It's a damn fine Alien comic with plenty of cool moments. The idea of having our two main leads rely on each other heavily to survive, a human and a android, is great. Also some sick Alien deaths. The jumping around can be confusing at times but overall really still works. A 4 out of 5.

So this is a story of a woman and a robot working together to kill some xenomorphs. The thing is this is a deep look into a human and a andriod learning from each other and working to protect humanity. It's a interesting look into the mental endurance of a human and her push to protect humanity with her new friend.
Good: loved the hell out of the character. Multi complex characters with some major differences that work together. The coloring and art is great too. I really loved the pacing and storyline too.
Bad: The ending Is a bit off and confusing moments with certain characters.
Overall it was great. A easy 4 out of 5. Hope continues to be good.

Flashpoint Beyond is a jumbled mess with some great moments in a otherwise overly long book just setting up the next big multiverse mission.
Which sucks because I actually enjoyed Doomsday Clock alot, and thought Johns did a real solid job with that.
But Flashpoint Beyond basically is a story about Thomas Wayne wanting to erase his universe again after what happened. He remembers Bruce and it all but somehow his universe is back. So he goes to reverse it, not even looking or entertaining the idea his universe still means something. Which leads to a big reveal that's overly long but enjoyable.
Overall looks great, some cool moments with Thomas Wayne and his wife, and Two Faces son, but the multiverse jumble mumble is on full display here, overexplaining how things are what they are now because of certain events, and what could have been summed up in a few panels took 4-5 pages sometimes to explain the "science" behind it.
But overall a decent read, especially if like Flashpoint, but feels half baked.

Re-read 2023: I actually raised my score here. The ending didn't seem confusing this time around. Maybe because I read it in a row with the first. I do think at times the jumping around in timelines without telling us you're going to be jumping around is jarring but the message was still clear. Makes me excited to read Wood's last two Alien stories now too. A 4 out of 5.

The first volume was a real interesting look into a human/robot situation. This had a deeper message here of survival, and what we would do in the end of it all facing a unstoppable force of aliens. This started off good enough, art great, but then the 2nd half gets really confusing and the ending felt a bit sudden. Overall, a solid alien story and well worth reading, but didn't live up to the first volume. A 3 out of 5.

This time Taiki works harder than ever to get places in his practice. You get a lot more of him working with his new mentor, improving his skills, while also trying to catch up with Chinatsu in both skill and of course getting with her.
Taiki crush on Chinatsu grows as they go on their first "date" if you can really count it as a date but it is cute. I also really enjoy Taiki motivation and pureness.
The best friend really in love with Taiki is cliche but it works well enough here.
A 4 out of 5.
