This one is far more out there than the last two stories but also the most enjoyable?

Basically Superman and Batman are raised by evil time manuplators changing the destiny of all our heroes. And they have to revisit major events in the DC universe to try and revert back to normal settings for the universe. Makes for some really awesome deaths, evil supes and batman is horrifying, and working together to restore things is great too.

Basically a whole story of "What If" but all were pretty solid. The art was shaky at points though with some ugly faces at points.

Overall a 3.5 out of 5.

HORRENDOUS. Maybe top 5 worst superman or batman stories I read. Nonsensical, overly long, and a payoff that falls so flat I wanted my time back.

Pure and fun. Sam Loeb had a snack for back and forth banner even at a young age. For his passing this was very touching.

Well written as always, and solid art, but this story didn't intrigue me as much as the other 3. Basically we have Anna trying to figure out what's happening in this famous actress home. The actress thinks it is haunted. Anna knows better. But Anna also has to deal with her mother's crazy ass, which is nice to get some background on Anna and her family life. But the ending and reveal felt a bit too coinvent and easy to see coming. Still solid fun though, a 3 out of 5.

Alien vs Humans.

It started off weird, with characters acting way out of character. But once you get some answers, find out what's happening, it all starts to click. Seeing Superman take as long as he did to succumb to these "aliens" and their brainwashing made so much sense. The fights were pretty epic, with multiple brutal moments. I also really enjoyed the reasoning behind it, and it didn't feel contrived. This overall was pretty great fun.

The end is here. A fitting and powerful ending with plenty of great moments. Superman shows who he is, Midnighter and Apollo together again <3, and some great fights to push it. I think the art was a little bit of a let down at parts but overall this arc, though a bit padded and overlong, still concluded great.

A rather messy volume that made sense but not always. Basically it was to showcase Darkseid's genius plan to trap supes and take what is his. Using the likes of freaking Croc of all people (or animals) to help do this. It actually almost works, even if it makes no sense at times, but the moments with Superman and Batman do shine through a otherwise dumbass plot. Sometimes fun dialogue can make you look past the silly plot of Bruce falling in love in 10 minutes and Supes somehow getting brainwashed/losing his mind.

A confusing at times, silly as shit too, but ballsy move by Marvel back in the day.

See Legion is kind of a mess of a character. Charles son but having a split personality disorder, he never is able to control himself despite his immense powers. However, eventually, he is able to focus and become one of the strongest beings. He decides to go back and erase Erik, just take him out, and then no more Magneto which in David's (Legions mind" will have his father love him more.

The dialogue is actually solid enough, but that's mostly thanks to the issues written by Mark Waid. He has a knack for fun, superhero, dialogue. I will say the plot is interesting and the payoff brings us to the age of apocalypse, one of X-Men's biggest stories ever. But the events in this book, some really weird ones, like what happens to David's mom feels off and maybe a bit...rapey? Despite that being her son...yeah it's a really weird scene. And of course it is the 90's, so mass amount of text on every page and everyone, even Charles, looks like a goddamn body builder and every female is a toothpick.

But yeah, it's kind of cool to see a screw up effect everyone which in sense changes the future forever. A ballsy move that paid off big for Marvel in the end. But as a story and art, it's solid but not great.

A Omnibus is always a bit tough to rate because they're huge. Meaning sometimes there's goldmines and sometimes there's just duds. BUT it's even harder when the entire omnibus has multiple creators in on it, making it jarring in quality from one to another.

This Omnibus is no different. A good portion of it, more than half, is written by Jeph Loeb. And while I appeciate some of Loeb's stories out there (Nova/Hush) This ranged from decent, sometimes good, to downright HORRIBLE. The last story he pens (outside of his tribute to his son which was wonderful) is really just awful, confusing, and terribly written. If the Omnibus ended there, I don't know if I'd ever buy a volume 2.

Luckily it doesn't, and the remaining stories are far better.

This is mostly starring Bruce and Clark working together to take out baddies. Stories as simple as Bruce and Clark verse Lex and his insane plans. To Superman being brainwashed along with all the aliens on earth fighting against humanity and Batman has to stop his best friend. To Superman and Batman working together to help Kara as she comes to earth for the first time. We have a few different storylines here that range from decent, to pretty damn good, and that really sums up the entire Omnibus.

I don't think it's great. It has moments of greatness. I think it mostly borderlines on good. A 3 out of 5 is my final score. Without the terrible Loeb story it might have been higher but that one, a 6 parter, is just almost unreadable and a 0 out of 5. So it does drag down the quality. However, if you're a fan of both the characters here, this isn't a fun Saturday morning cartoon like collection worth checking out.
