Mark Millar can have some really great ideas, but a lot of his comics do come across as pitches for Hollywood.
And that's not a shot at him. Make that money. But it's nice to see a actually decently written story.
That's not to say this isn't dark/edgy. Because plenty of people die, everyone is saying goddamn, shit, and more every other line. So it has the Millar edge no doubt. But it also has a Peter Parker pushed to his limit, ousted, and haunted. And Millar smartly makes Peter push back and get his inner thoughts, leading to some great fights overall. Also electro and vulture actually doing work was interesting. The humor was hit or miss, sometimes I did laugh, sometimes I cringed at out outdated or sexist it was.
Overall, it's a solid read for a darker more screwed up Spider-Man story. I enjoyed it for that, even if the edge was bleeding through thick at points. A 3 out of 5.

Was not expecting to like Age of Apocalypse all that much but this was actually pretty damn fun.
Basically after the events of Legion's Quest we have the world reshaped very differently. All the X-Men and mutants are in very different fractions compared to the regular timeline, the biggest change being that Magneto is leading the X-Men, the rogue group, trying to fight back against the ruler of the world, Apocalypse.
Many characters are here from Cyclops, Wolverine, Storm and so on but very diffferent. The biggest change would be someone like Nightcrawler, who's much more vicious here but also hates religion, which is a complete 180, yet makes him really intriguing for this version.
The way we have characters sometimes act similar to the regular counterpart but look vastly different (The cyclops look is terrible though) and the world itself on the brink of all hell with Apocalypse trying to make his move to stop Magneto while Magneto is trying to build his forces strong enough to fight back.
Overall, this is a big old "What If" but it feels...earned? A little dark, little extreme, yet I'm intrigued by each group of Mutants we go to and why they are the way they are.

But around half way through we go back to the modern day and they're cute chapters, don't get me wrong, but they feel weirdly out of place. I believe it's because from here on out we'll be getting more of the past, and learning about Tsukasa, but they reverted back mid way just to keep fans enjoying this. A odd choice, but makes sense.

A lot of one shots this time around. Some better than others. The best being the two girls free of Spider and living life. I did enjoy the 3 parter at the end, but I'm starting to get to the point of where do we go from here and are we repeating very similar storylines now? Let's see how the last 4 volumes do.
Swamp Thing for Ram ends solid, with plenty of things to ponder about with this world we live in.
This is mostly machines vs the green, and them trying to decide who gets to protect and control what. It leaves Levi trying to push his views and hopeful outlook to protect humanity while the machines are leaning more into exterminating it. It's a old age battle that works very well and stays interesting throughout.

Still very engaging. This almost post apocalyptic (no pun intended) world is pretty great. This nightcrawler is easily one of my favorites, Jean and Cyclops are so different yet still at the core of things work, and magneto is great. Really just digging this.
A dark tale of drugs. Maybe growing up with a sister who was hooked made it hit harder but the end was sad no matter what. A 4 out of 5.
A kind of brutal look into inner city life with lots of characters falling into the gray side of morality. Some really neat powers and ideas that in the king run can make this series great.
I actually enjoyed getting to know Shaw a little bit more. However, this issue jumped around WAY too much.
Nightcrawler ain't just about the telaporting, mofo got plans. Good stuff this issue.
