I rated this years again, settled on a 2 out of 5. Re-reading it now my review score obviously has changed but it doesn't reach the heights I think it could have went.

This is the comic that changed things back in the 80's. Giving us a even darker Batman than before, filled with angst and frustration to what happen to his city, this is a older Bruce who's tired and sick of the corrupt city but also still having the vengeance and angry of his younger self. It's a stark difference from this Bruce to the current Batman we read, and maybe I enjoyed this more now reading it because of how wildly different it was and thinking of it as it's own version of Bruce/Batman.

While the story starts interesting, Bruce heading back into the world to do some crime fighting, the story jumps around between that, political talk shows trying to speak about Batman and if he's the right man for the job of cleaning up the city, and also the villains slowly showing themselves like Two Face and Joker.

The best part for me is Superman in this seeing as he still as the hopefulness of it all but also follows America, and the president, almost to a tee. While I don't think Superman would always blindly follow the US, I think the fact he is the opposite of Bruce opposing himself is a great idea. There's emotional moments that work very well here.

The Joker segment is also a highlight. This is Joker being a vicious and cunning asshole, and I love that. His ultimate end is truly horrifying and fits the character.

I will say I wasn't a huge fan the Two Face part. I get where they were going with it but it didn't appeal to me. I also thinking the talking head segments are a bit much, and overly long, but that is kind of Frank Miller's style.

Overall not a 5/5 like some believe for me, but a very solid 3.5 on re-read.

This is basically 1 year after the events of the last volume.

We do get filled in what happened. After Matt has claimed Hell's Kitchen as his own. That HE is now the kingpin of hell's kitchen and everyone better back the fuck off, other places in town are getting bad. His friends try to confront him, his other friends try to help him, his lover is scared for him, and Matt is a fucking mess.

And it's perfection. The anger, the loss, trying to pick up the pieces of his life. Matt is barely hanging on, and it makes for a extremely interesting read. A easy 5 out of 5.

Can't get more 90s than this. Girls with waist the size of toothpicks, all men with huge muscles, and love interest dying for the sake of growing the main lead, aka fridging.

Yet this is still fun. Despite being preachy at times, and dialogue on the nose, dragon is a fun character and the fights are big and bombastic. I also did enjoy pacing, it's very quick.

Let's see how the series evolves past this.

Anarky storyline had a solid payoff but both the Penguin storyline and the WAY too long 4 part clayface both lacked a decent punch to the storyline. Art was decent throughout.

A fun team up. Watching Superman and Batman working together is always fun as they work so different yet they work so well as a team. And with Lex being the main threat here, and using Superman's origin as a way to make him the "bad guy" is really a cool idea. I also really dig the art, slick and works well for this style of storytelling.

I will say having so many other superheroes in here kind of took away from Superman and Batman team up. I didn't need Hawkman, Power Girl, Shazam and so on. Also it does drag on a bit, I think this would have worked better as a 4 part, MAYBE 5 part story.

Oh and also Jeph Loeb has a few too many sexist style dialogue remarks that feel off at times.

Saying that still a fun team up and a 3 out of 5.

Re-read 2023 - This is the final major arc of the series, and it's still fantastic to read. There's multiple moments of "holy shit" followed by "Oh god...people are going to die." And that's pretty much the last 8 volumes in a nutshell. So excited to read through these again.

Original Review - Demon Slayer just ramps up their shit because holy fuck it is going DOWN.

This right here is the Endgame. Right before we get into it we get to see the training and it's a decent ending to show how far the boys have come. BUT then Muzan walks right up to Kagaya and is ready to murderer the leader of all the Demon Slayer Corp. Is it a trap? Well fuck it doesn't matter because Muzan shows why and how powerful he is here as the entire Demon Slayer corp unleashes their attacks on him. Then we get a duel between a sick demon and Kanao, and my god, this fight is glorious.

It ends on a hell of a cliffhanger but goddamn it the death count is coming and I can feel it. The fights, the motives, the pure relentlessness of the demons. It all comes down to this. We in it baby.

Daredevil is my favorite Marvel character of all time.

Re-reading Bendis run solidifies that for me. It's actually Bendis run that GOT me into the character. And while I love many other runs (Brubaker, Miller, Chips, ect...) This run is just the one I can't get enough of. From the court room drama issues, to the excellent look into a man on the brink of having a mental breakdown, to the fights being so damn brutal, to creating this dark and almost myth like scarecrow in Daredevil himself. Everything about this run works for me.

This run actually starts off with a dream-like story about a boy who has PDST over the events that occurred in front of him. We soon jump into a mobster story about taking out not only the Kingpin, but finding out who Matt is, and going after him too. To Matt dealing with being outted to the world and working his way around it. To finally Matt becoming a Kingpin like figure in the underground world of crime.

It's epic, touching, sad, dark, and everything I love about Daredevil as a character wrapped up in one. If Frank Miller established this darker and more ruthless Daredevil, Bendis to me expanded this great character work on top of giving excellent character motivation and moments.

A 5 out of 5.

Wacky as hell.

Savage Dragon is about a dragon lizard looking guy who joins the police officers to do some good. It flies by major storylines, with main side characters getting killed when introduced only a couple of issues prior. Friendships just HAPPEN out of nowhere within a few pages. And it's over the top art with every woman, big tits, small waist, and that's the 90's for you.

But it is charming. Through this first ultimate collection we get Dragon going head to head with multiple villains. It really isn't till the end we get the big bad, and it's a nice display that rage and anger can't compete with raw strength and this baddie does some real damage to our friend Dragon here.

The brutality of this volume can be shocking but does spice things up. I will say the love interest fall way way down, dialogue being cringe worthy to say the least. But the friendships and overall tone is fun and fast paced. Overall if want to experience the 90's, check this out.

A 3 out of 5.

Re-read 2023 - This is a great volume because that let's us say goodbye to one of the heroes. With the big fight shifting between multiple characters, and some amazing looking ones that'll be great to see animated.

Damn this was a great fucking volume too. Got the end of the last fight which is a lot more depressing than expected, have our lightning boy not playing around anymore, and Giyu and Tanjiro working together to kill one of the strongest demons ever. In other words, this volume is fantastic and I can't say much more without spoilers. A 5 out of 5.

2023 Re-read: This is leading into the final fight with Rank 2 taken care of, we end up with Rank 1 and like I say in my original review, it'll take 3 Hashira to stop him. This feels like the end of the line for a few characters, and I love the overall tone and misery we have going here, with everyone pushing themselves to their limits but going on. Makes for a exciting and fun volume.

original Read: We finish up the fight with Inosuke and Kanao verse upper rank 2 and holy shit what a ending.

To see both Ino and Kanao work together is great and the surprise of fighting the Rank 2 at the end was both really well done, sad, and wonderful all at once. But we don't have time to breath (no pun intended) as the Rank 1 demon appears to face off against not 1, not 2, but 3 fucking Hashira. Can Gyomei, Tokito, and Sanemi stop the rank 1 demon or is it over before it began?

This is a brutal arc with plenty of deaths, people getting chopped up, and EVERYONE in danger. When you think of final arc, THIS is it. I feel the stakes rising every few pages. I'm not going to lie Demon Slayer will go down as top 5 manga of all time for me.
