This was probably the best volume so far. It really gets things moving and the ending finally makes you happy...kind of.
So we get the story of brother and sister. They're eager to kill the evil piece of shit at the castle. I don't blame them. Do they do it? Do they kill this son of a bitch or fail? Well, I can't tell you that...because that's not fun.
Also the ending we finally see Walter, our hero, make his first victory and damn is it fucking sweet. This makes you cheer as our hero is about to get some much needed revenge, especially after the horrible events of the last book.
This is turning into a all out war, and I'm very much ready!

Green Arrow, Vol. 2: Here There Be Dragons
Eduardo Barreto, Randy DuBurke, Ed Hannigan, Sharon Wright, Paris Cullins, Mike Grell
A solid followup of the first volume (Which I mostly loved).
Things are a little bit sillier in this volume. Well the first arc. I wasn't feeling it much at all. Could be the outdated art is sometimes making fight scenes look awful. However, I don't think that is it, because I loved the final fight scenes in this volume. Also having Shado back is a big plus, she's badass, and makes Ollie better.
Overall if you enjoyed volume 1 you should enjoy 2, even if it's not as good.

WAR!
This is fun. The back and forth of the rebellion army verse the Wolfsmund. You think they keep having an advantage but the Wolfsmund keeps beating them out. The ending raises the stakes and you feel the victory of our heroes might come...maybe...we shall see!
All I know is this series is finally going full blown war and I'm a-okay with that.

Ah man, not as good as volume 1 - 2.
So Nova meets up with Bill in this volume and some of their dialog is gold. I also love the dialog Nova says randomly. The way he just talks to himself, also very sarcastic, and annoyed so easily actually feels like a real teenager. I know I said this in past volumes, but I love how awesome Sam is in being a actual teenager and not a teenager written like an adult who acts like an adult.
The art is still solid as well.
However this volume didn't grab me. It's a fine, decent read, that could have been better if more happened. The ending was kind of boring and the story arcs feel a bit dragged out. Hoping to get more into human feel of Sam and his family so it doesn't lose that. On to volume 4!

You know what? I actually really enjoyed this.
Don't get me wrong. It's just one really long fight but goddamn it, the fight is glorious. Doomsday arrives and now Superman, Lex, and Clark Kent have to stop him. Yes, you read that right. Do you not understand? It's okay, neither do we even by the end.
Superman of the old is now in the New52 universe and things are starting to piece together. He knows his responabilities. His family comes first but he must protect the people, and with Lex on his side (or so we hope) and Wonder Women as well they all go into a huge brawl with the big bad doomsday.
I thought this was perfect comic for Dan. He's not the best writer around but he's solid and gives us some great fighting moments. We also get some true inspirational moments we all love to see from Superman. And Jon is the cutest fucking superpowered kid ever, just saying.
There's a lot of mystery in this series, and the series itself is balls to the walls insane, but I actually enjoyed that. Especially after most of new 52 action comics being a large pile of dog shit mixed with garbage. So sign me up, this one was a ton of fun. Will read more!

Around a 3 to a 3.5.
This would be a pretty great blueprint to use for the movie. Darkseid comes down to earth to fuck shit up and the unlikely team forms, giving us the seven warriors of Justice. They don't fight all that well together but they get by, and it feels like they really don't know each other but try their best to work together.
I loved the interaction with ANYONE and Green Lantern. I get it, some people might dislike Hal in here cause he's not annoying buddy who thinks he's better than everyone else. I get that, don't get me wrong. However, he proves himself more than once. I also loved the art, Jim Lee is fucking amazing no doubt. I also liked the ending and how it sets up the rest of the series.
The only negative is sometimes the overuse of "What the hell" or "Shut up" and out of character moments from Batman or Wonder Women. However, by the end I was really getting into the groove of how they'd all work together. I especially love how Supes is still fresh at this, and he's better written here than any start in Action Comics or Superman for New52.
So 3.5 would be my final rating. Time for volume 2.

I've read Invincible all on my Honeymoon. Well least to volume 18. So I love this series already. However, I'm starting over. Not everything is perfect, and the start is a little slow but let's talk about what works.
Real characters - Mark is awesome main character. He's normal, he gets his powers, and he slowly becomes a hero. His father is a perfect "follow in my footsteps" and his mother is so awesome I love her. Also his relationship with his new friends is beginning to bloom and it's nice to see.
I also enjoyed the ending as it kills tropes in most superhero origin stories. Your teacher is a psycho who is killing people for revenge of his kid being killed? Holy shit what is this twisted shit.
However the story is pretty basic at the start, as is the art. It's a good start to get you into the world but nothing amazing yet. However, more is to come.
So for the start it's a solid 3/5 start.

So the series remains fun and exciting yet not as well told as the previous volumes. The Original Sin tie in was weak at best. It had a good idea, The Watcher dying was sad and sudden. Sam's reaction was golden. I also love the twist and making Sam question everything. However, by the end it felt all to much stuffed into a simple told story.
I hope more for the last few volumes. Just streamline story mixing space adventure with real teenage issues. That's where nova does best. When it tries to be one or the other too much it fails to be either all that well.
On to Volume 5!

I really 'em enjoying this series.
Maybe because I love Hal, he's a confident asshole, and it makes the group talk funny as fuck.
Maybe it's the art, it's great, and some amazing shots are printed here.
Maybe it's the feeling of watching the heroes work together (Then again Rebirth Justice League sucks nuts so I dunno).
Hell, I can't describe what I love. I just enjoy it all. Watching Aquaman tell Green Arrow to fuck himself. Watching Superman and Batman unite as friends together was great. Watching Wonder Women take on half the league by herself. Watching the weakness of all the characters interact with their past was great.
I just really enjoyed it. So I'm going to have to go with a 4/5 because I think it's great fun.

Re-reading this years later gets me so excited for volume 3. Volume 2 is like the calm before the storm.
So we get a little bit more of Mark's life. How he's balancing being a teenager who just got his powers and his school life, and maybe even some of his love life? Yeah buddy, this is a coming of age story with lots of cool powers and fucked up twist. So if you haven't picked up on that yet you probably should.
The big moment in here is the "Justice League" wannabe team gets slaughtered. No bullshit "Who done it" because they show you it's none other than Mark's father! OH NO! But he's still playing the game of pretending he's hunting whoever did this. So you question what the hell is happening and what's his agenda.
If only you knew. I do know...cause I read this. But yeah.
So again another solid volume, and I remember enjoying this more and more the first time. I should too, cause this motherfucker bout to explode into greatness! A 3.5/5
