This is a re-read for me since I read volume 3 and 4 years ago but was a nice refresher.
Basically this starts right off with the big attack from Kyle's sister. It's fast paced, scary, brutal, and ends in a holy shit way. Then we get Kyle finally learning his place, what his powers do, and going forward trying to do what's right. The preacher is also trying to figure his place, and his faith sets him on a dangerous path.
Lots of cool character moments and while I felt the later half does tetter a bit with the "mystery" angle it still holds up well. While not as strong as volume 1 I still really dug it.

I am on a Kirkman reading spree. Next up, Outcast!
I actually reviewed Outcast volume 1-4 on here. But it has been YEARS since I've read them. I decided to pick up these wonderful "deluxe" editions, hardcover, so pretty. Fit in nicely with my Walking Dead Hardcover collection. BUT anyway, let us get on to the series.
This is basically taking conjuring and exorcist and adding a little small hometown feel to it and you got Outcast. Kyle Barnes has had a rough life. His mother when he was a kid beat and abused him and when he fought back it basically put her into a coma. But the fact is, she was possessed by a demon. Kyle might not believe it but Reverend Anderson does and he ask Kyle to help him exorcise demons out of people he knows.
The meat of this story is Kyle trying to get answers for what these demons are and what the fuck they want. This works so much better as a complete read because it is a slowburn but doesn't feel very slow reading it all together. Kyle is losing his mind, the devil is in town, and Reverend Anderson is wondering what he can do.
Outcast works on a lot of levels. The dialogue is sharp and realistic, the art is moody and disturbing, the slowburn pacing helps create the atmosphere, and the ending is "holy shit" That for me pushes outcast into the "Fantastic" area.
The first collection is a easy 4.5 out of 5.

Time to Kung Fu some motherfuckin Demons.
But seriously, Kyle is introduced to someone from his past. You can probably guess it, bit cliche, but once he's back in Kyle's life they decide to do some training. Learning how to rip the demons out of people with the power of kung fu. It's pretty fucking silly but also kind of amazing? Get some really great fight scenes here, new characters introduced that work to the plot, and some answers finally answered.
The ending introduces us to a new villain in ways, one who has his shit together, and the outcast might be in a bit over their heads.

The gathering of the heroes. This is when everyone starts coming together to fight the darkness. It's cool to see this turn more action based with still some creepy factors. With the good guys secluding themselves off and the darkness pushing their way, things get spicy by the end.
Razorblades: The Horror Magazine - Year One
Alex Paknadel, Marguerite Bennett, Steve Foxe, James Tynion IV, Ram V
Tbh one of rhe biggest disappointments ever. Boring, one good story for every 5 bad ones, not worth the money at all. Super sad.
The andriods make their first move on the new planet to recover what they need to. But soon as they get deep in, the Xenomorphs arise. It is SO cool to see someone, or something, finally able to stand toe to toe with these things and the ending made me excited to see where we go from here.
Kaiju No. 8 continues to be a super fun, bombastic, yet emotional adventure.
We have the leader of the crew going head to head with a Kaiju, and things aren't looking good. He eventually works together with someone and they might be able to overcome certain death. But then the secret is out, and our hero might be exposed as a Kaiju to the world!
This is an exciting volume with some great fight scenes that are super easy to follow. Always a plus in my book. I also loved the emotional bits here, and felt for the main character and his crew, they're doing a great job giving us a true friendship feel here.
Overall it's fun, exciting, looks great, and has the emotional beats I hope for. A 4.5 out of 5.

First half is great fun, so many cute moments with the husband and wife here, and then the second half is a spin off of the magical girl series from inside the universe of the way of the househusband and I was NOT amused by this...A waste.
Rogue Sun is the first "spin-off" in the Radiant Black series and it's still damn good.
This time written by Parrott, the mastermind behind the latest and greatest Power Ranger comics, give his take on a original hero. This universe reminds me SO much of Invincible, and that's a very good thing. After a rich, kind of a dick, hero dies in battle he leaves behind his son he left behind years ago his power to his suit. This makes him a target to his father's other family, new villains, and getting yelled at by mom for not being a regular kid.
This actually gets dark at points but still contains the fun and adventurous feel of a superhero origin story. Vibes of Batman and Spider-Man and even Nova to a extent all come into this title, but with a main character who's more similar to Tony Stark except not all that bright. Besides some turns that I felt took too long to get to I really enjoyed this one, great art and fights on top of it, and eager to see how this world expands some more.
