Finally getting somewhere plot wise. The ending helped push Ben into new territory but how is this all gonna play out. Beyond is powerful.
Wow fuck beyond and especially Maxine. Poor Ben being abused and used. Memories wiped? Fuck you.
The hood? Mary Jane And Black Cat working together? Dump Truck Ass? Yes.
Ben breaking. The heroes in trouble. A new Goblin? Really fun issue.
The first few issues were great. Watching Night Thrasher take on the Punisher but smart enough to know if the Punisher is after that person, they might not be all that good. Some real interesting dynamics there. I also really dug the extremist environmental stuff.
But man the X-Men crossovers were mostly dull after first two parts. To stretch it out to 5 partS? Ugh, I was getting sleepy just reading part 3 let alone 4 and 5. Not great.
Overall a 3 out of 5.

While still quirky and fun the story doesn't seem to have too many ideas left.
I enjoyed all these, don't get me wrong. A few good laughs, some good moral stories, and the rock band one was a great zinger. But honestly none blew me away and the gimmick of powers needs to be used to push the story forward in a interesting way. A 3 out of 5.

I really enjoyed this. Watching Peter slowly try to regain his energy and skills back was great. I also enjoyed the art alot this issue. The ending was fucked up again. Poor Ben.
Funny enough when I read this really young I didn't love it but reading it now I had a blast.
So Manji is a Samurai warrior who can't die. You slash him up, cut his hands off, stab his stomach and it'll regrow. However, based on his past actions, he really regrets what he had done. So to make amends he decides to kill "bad" people. However, when he meets Rin and learns of her past and her revenge scheme he decides to help her for a price.
This is a vicious tale, with lots of brutal fucked up fights, and some grimy as hell characters. I really enjoyed these stories, especially the story of a woman who is tired of being used. The art is fantastic, with some amazing shots. Mostly pretty easy to follow. If you're a fan of shows like Kenshin this one is a bloodier and meaner version of that.
A easy 4 out of 5.

Ah damn, Fire Power continues to be so damn entertaining.
This feels like a nice fresh arc. Everyone's back home, chilling, working on trying to live a normal life. Also training and learning to shoot fireballs because, come on, that's awesome. But these pesky little snakes that can take over minds have a different plan. They begin to go into everyone's mind and force them to do the bidding of the old snake lord...
It gets so damn fun. I mean it's always good, and the family dynamic is one of the best in comics. Refreshing to see Owen just be a regular dad and husband and even his little spat with the wife felt realistic and never overly dramatic bullshit.
But yeah, this series is still a great read and I'm picking up the big size deluxe versions for it no doubt.

The weakest of the 4 volumes.
I do want to state this isn't a bad volume by any means. It's just a weaker one. The art still holds very well. We still get some great moments, especially with Clark trying to deal with some of his own people when Supergirl returns. Those arcs are solid as well as dealing with just the everyday stuff like with Jimmy Olsen. Even the Checkmate issue was solid.
But the rest? Pretty meh in every aspect. Most stories drag on or feel pointless. None of them really resonated with me. I didn't care about Power Player storyline, Return to Krypton was interesting enough but then went trippy and lost all interest in the entire plot. Doom Patrol lacked any sort of edge, and Hostage Crisis was just meh.
Yeah, this just didn't hold a candle to volume 1, 2, or even 3. A 2.5 out of 5. I'll bump it to 3 just for the art alone.
