Give me a good murder mystery to get me into the Christmas spirit.

So we have a crime story about two guys, who aren't all that smart, try to set up a plan to get cash by robbing two people. The thing with this plan is they of course don't set it up right, get anxious, and then fuck up as they always do. See Dev and Alex are just looking to buy a new car before Dev moves out of state. They get a sweet deal...or so they think. When they go to buy the car from Andrew and his partner. Shit goes sideways and now everyone scrambling to fix things.

I really did like the characters in this. Both Dev and Alex are sympatric enough to feel bad for their situation but not completely "pure happy nice guys". That leaves Andrew and his buddy. See both are the side of the coin of being forced into criminal actions, but Andrew isn't really. He does this out of desperation and so when the situation goes deeper, and people get hurt, he's left wondering what he is capable of doing.

I liked the plotting, the art for the atmosphere and story works really well too. The thing I wish we had more time with was Dev and Alex since I wanted to see more of the back and forth. Even if we got what they were doing inside the cabin at the time Andrew wasn't there. It could have lead to some intense moments.

But overall, very enjoyable crime story that I love to eat up. A 4 out of 5.

A fun issue. Some cool fight scenes, a backstory on flatline, and a big reveal coming at the end.

A fun tale of repeating the same day over and over again.

Clever moments of "Who's bad and who's not" is a lot of fun though I do feel this story would have been even better if it had just one more issue to flush out characters and give us more motivation. But the over the top art and crazy deaths do make it a quick and fun read. While not my favorite of Brisson's work it is a lot of fun. A 3 out of 5.

Another solid issue. This time really getting into the fights and Flatline's history. The story is quickly paced still and makes this a easy fun read.

Great fight scenes in this between Hawke and Damien. I also like Damien still dealing with grief. Some great stuff.

A dark and...kind of screwed up ending to a pretty solid series. What if Batman was real. Which we've seen before. But this Bruce seems especially venerable, getting beaten on, shot, and so on yet he still pushes through with Bruce never giving up like Batman. A nice ending to a nice reveal. A 4 out of 5.

Nuclear Family starts off great and kind of just settles in the end.

A normal 1950's family experiences an attack one day when people start dropping bombs in a little town. When it hits everything goes dark but when the family emerges they are met with freedom warriors claiming the nice little family from the 50's are commie bastards. So this a big old WHAT IF and it starts off great.

But then the last two issues feel weirdly slowpaced despite being fast paced? Like they introduce characters but none feel that interest. Deaths fall flat. A weird zombie subplot. Just kind of feels weird and not as intriguing as I hoped from the first 2-3 issues.

But overall not a bad read, pretty fun, and I'd read more from Phillips for sure.

Pretty great. Basically a dark knight returns or old man Logan vibe with a very tired Salina trying to do.the right thing. Amazing art and solid story this should be good.

A great first issue. Stunning art and a solid story with a great cliffhanger. A 4 out of 5.

War is looming, death is happening to kids now, and some hot lesbian romance. This is my kind of book!
