This was a decent team up book, better character moments with a lackluster villain plot.
So with Tim losing a lot of important people he decides to split from Batman for awhile and try to do his own thing. Of course Cassandra sees he is hurt and decides to follow him. Together they talk it out some, and try to figure out who and what they are, and what they want to be. While this is happening Penguin is cooking up a new plan.
The main plot is just okay. Penguin is kind of a meh villain for me and he doesn't do much here to impress me. So there's that. But the stuff with Cass and Tim together, figuring it out, and trying to be helpful to one another was great. Also the art was solid, better in Batgirl's book.
A 3 out of 5.

DC Festival of Heroes: The Asian Superhero Celebration #1
Dustin Nguyen, Gurihiru, Marcio Takara, Jim Lee, Greg Pak, Alex Sinclair, Sami Basri, Norm Rapmund, Marcus To, Scott Williams, Trung Le Nguyen, Kevin Wada, Amy Chu, Aniz Adam Ansari, Alyssa Wong, Alexandre Tefenkgi, Cliff Chiang, Pornsak Pichetshote, Sean Chen, Sumit Kumar, Jen Bartel, Minh Lê, Philip Tan, Gene Luen Yang, Francis Manapul, Sarah Kuhn, Jae Lee, Audrey Mok, Bernard Chang, Victoria Ying, Mariko Tamaki, Jim Cheung, Ram V
This was a ton of fun.
While most stories last only a few pages we got to see so many Asian superheroes kicking butt. There's a lot of strong stories, mostly anything with Cass was wonderful, the story with Conner was super cute, and I really enjoyed all the little side stories throughout. The monkey king one was fun but a little let down overall on that one.
But yeah if you love Asian superheroes this is a great celebration issue to grab.

Defenders ends kind of on a whimper sadly.
The good is the art is still fantastic. There's an amazing fight between Danny and Electra that is just mindblowing. There's also a big brawl at the end that looks fantastic too. And I like the four all together cracking jokes and being a team.
Saying that none of the villains were interesting. Everything felt like it had to rush to finish up. Not sure if it was because Bendis was leaving or this was just a very limited series.
But yeah this was decent at best. But for the fight scenes alone worth reading. A 3 out of 5.

This was pretty great!
Owen is now living a normal life with his wife and two kids. They're about to throw a party and Owen is approached by a old friend (or enemy?) when things begin to turn and everyone can be a potential threat, we find Owen's old life may be catching up to him. Training his kids, together him and his wife must face what is coming.
This was frantic when it needed to be. The fights are really fun. There's plenty of good humor here. Owen being a family man works in his favor. His wife is badass. His kids are cool. This series is shaping up to be a blast now. Less cliche more kung fu action! A 4 out of 5.

This volume gets deeper into Guts life as we go through various stages.
The opening is pretty brutal as we see a ugly events get worse. Guts is sold for a night of "pleasure" to a dirty disgusting man and the poor boy, despite his try to fight back, doesn't do it. So after that we're introduced to Guts losing hope in people around him. This leads to him basically wanting to be on his own...Till the band of hawks comes up.
This is really a sad tale in some ways. Guts is almost always thrown to the side after being used by someone. And though this is the start of a "family" for guts with the band of hawks, we all know Griffith will betray him due to seeing him in the first arc. So Guts has no choice but to move forward in what seems to be good times with the people he cares for even if we know it won't end well.
Meeting the band of hawks is great with lots of wonderful characters. Casca is by far my favorite, and her backstory only makes her a even more interesting character. Strong, brave, fearless, motivational, she is clearly one of my favorite lead female characters.
Getting to see Zod too helps build for more of the supernatural side of it, and like before, it is horrifying. The art really gets to showcase here as the battle is fast and brutal as hell.
Overall, fantastic look into Guts and his life. This is when Berserk becomes one of the greatest of all time. A 5 out of 5.

I thought this was the last volume for Joshua so was kind of shocked by the ending but there will be one more!
So paradox decides to make his move. I'll be honest, it's a bit cliché and he actually didn't come off as the next big threat. I mean what he was doin bad, and Barry needed both Godspeed and Reverse Flash to beat him. But the thing was that it gets settled so quickly I was a bit surprised. However, I did love that Paradox was basically us the audience speaking. Saying how Barry causes more issues than fixes and how he was better off dead.
The real fun part was watching Godspeed, Flash, and Reverse Flash team up. Seeing them together was pretty badass and a shocking ending sure helped build this up to a "oh fuck" moment that even took me by surprise.
I don't know how the final arc will end but it looks like a good old Flash vs Reverse Flash arc. I'm down with that.

Things heat up as Takemichi tries to save Ryuguji before he bleeds out.
This was a intense volume. From Takemichi and his final stand against gang members trying to kill Ryuguji. To a nice big brawl between two gangs. To Takemichi taking the first steps into being a man with a purpose. To going back to modern day era and being surprised on what is happening. To a shocking and fucked up ending...we have plenty in this jam packed volume to be excited for.
This reminds me of a anime I've just watched called Re:zero where you think the hero fixes things but in actuality it just gets worse. This is pretty much a story about a guy just trying to do right after doing pretty much nothing with his life. To watch the struggle is interesting and we get some real great character growth from Manjiro and Ryguji, who are becoming two of my favorite characters. Even some nice character work for Emma and Hinata.
The first volume was just good but these last two volumes have been fantastic. I assume with the show's success this will blow up even more. I love reading digital but if they do get printed I'm re-buying this series.

After reading Orange (The author's other work) I was expecting a more dower somber experience, but I got something way different, and I kind of loved it!
So Shimana wants to run away from home. Her mother passed away a few years ago and her father remarried and had another kid. She says her stepmother doesn't want her there and all they do is care about the new kid. So she wants to run away. While doing so she meets Taiga who is just a drunk on the street. He then offers her a place to live. This zanny weird home consist of him, Zen, and Asahi. Three guys and one girl in one home, what could go wrong.
No this is not a porno you sickos. This is just pure chaos fun. Shimana wants to be, well, wanted. Wants to feel like she's part of a family and this new one she stumbles upon is crazy weird but so fun. The adventures of trying to find love and acceptances works wonders here. Some sweet emotional moments spliced in with over the top comedy and some really funny lines that made this a joy to read.
I know many probably enjoyed Orange more. And maybe overall I do to, since it handles suicide in a interesting manner. BUT this was a lot of fun to read and I read it way quicker. I enjoyed it so much I actually ordered a bunch of the volumes since they're on sale.

Astra goes full badass here and he shows you should mess with his friends. He gets to take on multiple foes, showing how much he's grown as a character. However it is Venessa gets to really show up here, unlocking not only new powers but her complete past. Making for a fun volume overall with plenty of big brawls and emotional bits. A 3.5 out of 5.
Hori is the popular girl at school but after school she goes home to take care of her little brother while all her friends hang out. One day her brother is hurt and is helped by Miyamura, Hori's classmmate, and brought back to her house. There she realizes she didn't even recognize Miyamura at first with all his piercings and no glasses and hair different...meaning everyone hides who they really are sometimes.
This was pretty cute. Basically a love story slowly coming together. It helps both leads, Hori and Miyamura are enjoyable characters to be around. Hori, a hard worker taking of her brother due to the parents not being around much. Miyamura, a guy who likes to be alone but maybe being with people isn't so bad once he gets to know them. Once these two become friends they begin to learn about each other, and love begins!
Great art, solid pacing, cute moments, mixed with romance that works well. While nothing super new it still solid of the story it is trying to tell. A 4 out of 5.
