Poor Ganta has to deal with the love of his life being evil. This volume really focuses on the aftermath of the whole thing. With Shiro being evil, this brings Ganta to a broken level. However the more you get in to it you see Ganta finally making a stand. The ending wants to get you hyped, and it does it well.
Finally the evil bastard is dead, or is he? The issue leaves you hanging, and damn, it's built up to a big ending. I don't expect this one to end happily so I'm already guarding myself for sadness. Only reason I give this a 4/5 is because the last 30-40 pages are "Deadman Wonderland Extras" and while cute, add nothing to the story...so really, I was getting into the final fight and this happened. BOOOOO! But picking up the final issue next month!
I'd put it at a 3.5. It gets a lot better than volume 1. One, not as much weird art. Two, better pacing. Three, swamp thing history! I loved that part and the ending got me hyped. This story is progressively getting better to the point I actually want to read volume 3! First, Swamp Thing volume !
This series really does push the boundaries at times. The mass amount of sex, blood, cursing can be a little much. However, it always remains so damn entertaining. Maybe it's cause I love the main cast, but damn, this crazy fucked up book is as wacky as the last and just as entertaining if not more so. We get a deeper look into the church system, and just how fucked up they really are, and this makes me excited to see more of God after this book!
Enjoyable title. The idea of it is fun, and kind of makes you wonder, do we have the oppertunity to change our lives in a second? This manga answers that the best it could, and doesn't shy away from the reality of picking a path to take you down a sad future. So I did love that. Some of the comedy hit well, others not so much. I like the two very different main characters, even if they scream anime cliche. Still, overall fun little read and I'll check out volume 2.
Horror mixed with comedy can go one of two ways. Really good or straight up shit. Volume one does well with mixing the two. Some truly horrifying shots mixed with some good laughs and a message about our humanity and what it really means. I. eager to grab volume two. If you want a great manga to read look no further.
Enjoyable read but nothing that left an impression. Just a fun short read, which isn't bad, but didn't really leave anything behind.
While I enjoyed the first half a lot, the second half was a bit of a jump for me. Solid, fun read, but the first was far better direction.
Solid first volume. I'd probably give it closer to a 3.5 in the end. Artwork for the most part is good, though everyone is ugly (might be on purpose) but the magic and world looks insane. Also, the story's pacing is great after issue 2 and stays interesting the rest of the time. I'll be checking out volume 2 when it arrives.
I enjoyed this book despite calling the ending fifty pages in. The pacing was great and the writing was well done. my major issues were the females were written so weak and the ending was far too predictable. Still a fun read.
