I never much liked Shodo but she was pretty great here.

So this is a few different stories but the main one, first one, hunt for the red dragon is probably the strongest. When Shodo is being hunted Oliver decides to help out of the kindness of his heart. Also because she and him did it before and she has his kid. Anyway this is almost like battle royale in sense but it's Oliver and Shodo must work together to survive. The next few stories focus on bums in the street and Oliver working with them, a murder mystery, and then a wild jungle cat gets loose in the city and Oliver must help capture or kill it.

This was overall enjoyable collection of stories. The best parts are Dinah and Oliver's relationship and how real it feels. In general Grell's work feels very realistic and I appreciate it in a time when everything is superheroish. The art grew on me a lot and now I love it. I think some of it is a bit heavy handed but for the time (early 90's I believe) it's really well told.

A 4 out of 5.

World War Z of the robot world. Some cool stories but honestly the second half was really starting to bore me. Overall a 2.5 but I'll bump it to a 3 for the creepy factor.

The politics get nasty here as everyone is starting to turn on each other.

This starts off with Death visiting an old friend. And when I say friend, I mean a piece of shit who he can't stand. When he gets what he needs to find his son we revert our attention on to the politic side of it all. The world is coming to a end, and these people fighting are just like our ACTUAL leaders. Useless and only care about themselves. While that's happening Death's son is being lead on and must face off against 3 hunters.

This is a fantastic volume with a wonderful cliffhanger. If East of West continues this momentum this could go down as top 20 comics of all time for me. A 5 out of 5.

Wow I loved this issue. All about ace protecting a little girl from the infected. Along the way he works together with other animals to save her, and then his best buddy. Charming with great visuals.

Jesus christ joker is fucking psycho in this. More than usual. But the best part of this issue is the start between Bruce and Clark that makes their tragic friendship shattering in the future even more devastating.

Okay how the hell a certain magic weilder survived the last issue is beyond me. It looked like the end for them, but I guess it was just some homage to Japanese tentacle porn. Owells.

This issue is setting up the final 4 issues of this series. With John going all in and recruiting someone else. A bit of a relief for Jon and Damien here. And plans moving forward with SOME hope. This series is probably about to get real dark again next issue but this was a nice breather.

The final piece to the puzzle. The event ends and everything is shifted...or is it.

I actually enjoyed this ending. Some would feel it's rushed but I disagree. I think it feels right and while not "world shattering" changes the things that will be effected will matter. ALso, Black Panther got to shine and after losing Boseman, I needed that. Miss him already, RIP to one of the greats.

Will do a full review of Empyre series once the final avengers/fantastic four issues come out! A 4 out of 5.

I love the Black Label books. And them coming in deluxe sizes is cool since they're so much bigger and nice to read. BUT they're a real fucking bitch to find a spot for them since they're so big lol.

Anyway, Hellblazer is back. In fact there's a current one running which I hear is amazing. But this is a 3 issue special by Tom Taylor. You know, the guy who's writing some of the best stuff at DC (Dceased, Suicide Squad, Injustice, ect...) and so he gives us a new story with John.

Now this book is extremely accessible. This is important, since if you never read Hellblazer, you can jump in and enjoy. The opening shots are haunting but work in favor to show who John is. The brutalness of this series (blood/cursing/violence) works in it's favor. Basically, this is where John BELONGS, and he needs to be rated M all the time.

The story here is the loss of a childhood friend and the two who were with him after now have to pay the consequences. The threat feels scary, the mystery is intriguing, and the humor is perfect. This is a near perfect first issue. Go check it out. A 5 out of 5.

This is three short stories but really only 2. The last one is so short, it's like a baby one shot, and basically just shows the regular locke kids on a normal day using the key. Nothing special.

The two big stories here are the first, where a father is unsure of what to do about his son. Every night the boy gets sicker and the seizures he gets are killing him. So he decides to use the key and see if going into another world will help his son. This one is touching, sad, and a great ending. What a wonderful short story.

The other is grindhouse. And this pays tribute to the old over the top horror/thriller stories. 3 pieces of shit try to steal from the locke family while also trying to rape the girls in it. This is weird, sometimes funny, sometimes a bit sickening. But the way they use the keys here is pretty interesting. But this is mostly skippable and tone is weird.

A 3 out of 5 for the collection. First story a 4.5 the second a 2.

The flash remains a saturday morning cartoon with mutilation every once in awhile.

In this weeks episode we have Trickster come back into play. The ORIGINAL one. And he's not happy everyone forgot him. So he decides to play the biggest trick of them all. Make everyone happy! When Barry sees this he goes and tries to stop him but the Trickster might have some plans to stop him from running...FOREVER.

As always this is just another Flash adventure. It's not bad, and I do find it enjoyable, mostly cause the art is fun and some exciting moments of action. But man oh man, Joshua is just spinning his wheels here trying to fluff out this storyline. I'm all for simple superheroing adventures but The Flash could be SO much more. This is just decent.

A 2.5 out of 5.
