Back in 2003 when i got my first job at 14 I picked up volume 1 at my local Barnes and noble. My little teenage mind was blown away by how funny this book was and yet charming and exciting with art that went against most modern manga art styles. So then I picked up book 2 and loved it just as much and decided to jump into the anime. Years went by while I was in High School I watched the newest episode with subtitles every single week. I loved it and stopped around the arc when Luffy got him gum gum Kio Ken move. So anyway, fast forward about 12 years later and I'm ready to jump right back into the adventure and catch up.

I started with Omnibus 1 because I just had to see all these years later if it can recapture the same feelings. This covers Luffy on his first adventure alone, meeting Zolo (I'm so used to Zoro, not sure why it changed), meeting Nami, and then the first arc with Usopp. Zolo and Luffy's arc is probably the best, as it's fast paced and funny, but Nami has some heartfelt moments especially with a doggie, and usopp is charming and cute.

People say give one piece like 100 episodes before it gets good, but I disagree. Right off the bat the series has so much spunk and excitement. It's cute, it's funny, it can be super serious and pull on those heartstrings at times, and the fights are always exciting. I think One Piece is the most sold manga of all time for a reason, because it's so damn well crafted.

While not the best arcs, they are to come, this is still a great start to the series. A 4 out of 5.

Tokyo Ghoul Re comes up on its 9th volume and shit remains tense and brutal.

This basically deals with 3 different fights going on all at once. What this volume really felt like was "The side characters you almost forgot about, here they be" and showed all their fights. Saying that, most are pretty entertaining. Watching a old favorite return was pretty awesome and seeing the mad scientist and his creations in action after being a mystery or staying behind the curtains so long was cool as hell.

I think some of the fight scenes are still hard to follow and a couple of times I had to look up characters to remember how they're important. The thing with RE is it tries to introduce a SHIT ton of characters, plus old ones, so you forgot who is who at times.

Saying that I enjoyed this volume but it wasn't as good as the last few. Hoping this series pushes a bit more by the end. A 3 out of 5.

Got super bored about half way through. Never been a huge Way fan. Not sure why I bought a few volumes of this. But yeah the start is decent enough with more single shot issues of Wolverine being more down to earth and reminded me of Rucka's run. Then we get to the big blowout fights and secret origins and it's boring as can be. The Sabertooth stories at the end were the final straw for me. A 2 out of 5.

Conan fights witches, demons, and more all while being handcuffed to another guy. Typical canon book, some flash fights, brutal kills, funny moments, and a nice badass chick thrown in. Nothing special but I got it for 4$ at books a million and had enough fun reading it. A 2.5 out of 5.

Another pretty fun volume. James knows how to tell fun witchcraft stories with some of the best members. This time Wonder Woman gets taken over but a unlikely ally might be the savior. A 4 out of 5.

Luffy and crew finish up the cooking arc and head into the Arlong Park arc.

So Senji gets to show off his moves here and it's pretty amazing. On top of that we get to see some great emotion bits with Senji's master and old crew before he departs. If that wasn't good enough we head into the first half of the Arlong Park Arc. This was always a big arc for me because it's where I began to love nami and also get one of the top 10 moments in One Piece. With nami's backstory revealed, big fights, and plenty of humorous moments, this is the best volume yet for One Piece. A 4.5 OUT OF 5.

Wow I'm surprised I enjoyed this as much as I did.

This is basically one major story arc, then a small one, and then a two parter. The first one is a bit political, but hold your horses before you start screaming, it's done pretty well. Babs is working with the woman trying to change the city from the inside, while having to be against the police. It's actually pretty interesting how Babs deals with her father here. The one single shot issue deals with James and him getting out of prison. If don't know why or how check out the Batman who Laughs mini. Then last one is Babs dealing with getting kidnapped and escaping.

Overall, this feels just fun. It's not mindblowing but it remains fun through the whole volume and that matters. I was never bored, I enjoyed her adventures, and I actually liked the fight scenes here. Some of the art was off at points and nothing major changed, but the stuff with James was great. A 3.5 out of 5, I'll bump it to a 4.

I'm not going to repeat too much of what all the other reviews on here said. With Hickman's earlier work you can tell he always had high concepts in his mind. Interesting ideas and theories are presented here but the full picture isn't all there. Mostly due to somewhat rushed pacing, little character development, and just okayish art. While loved the idea, the story itself could have been stronger without a doubt. A 2.5 out of 5.

Wow and I thought Metal was meh and No Justice was Garbo. This is pretty bad.

I'll give it a point for the art. Not too bad. I also think the set up of Lex vs The Batman who Laughs is actually a great idea. But then it starts rolling and you can guess everything that'll happen. Who's going to fight who, who's going to win in which way, and the ending...what in the flying fuck was that shit?

DC hasn't had a decent event in years while Marvel has been putting out good to GREAT ones. DC, fix yourself please. A 2 out of 5.
