Another really solid issue. So much happens in just 21 pages. How do X-men come back? Not just X-Men but mutants? In a actual INTERESTING way with some surprises to how they can even come back. Then to watch all the mutants unite in one place under one banner, even ones as big as Apoc? Holy hell...the ending to this issue is stunning. I can't wait to see where we go from here.
Not only are we getting a good Marvel event but a damn good Carnage/Venom book. It's been FAR too long.
Cates and Stegman have made Carnage a absolute beast of a villain. Not only is he super strong, can take your body over, and is getting stronger by the minute, but the biggest thing that makes him interesting is he can be anyone. He can change his appearance. This creates a shocking twist here and all the loss keeps building but a major hero (or maybe villain) pops up in the last page and it's going to create a major consequence in the future. This is awesome, fun, and over the top enjoyment I always wanted.

Volume 1 was better.
Saying that this ended decently. Wrapping up why the champions are champions, what they fight for, and why they are friends. It's more cheerful and upbeat than the first volume and dealt with most of the story threads in a decent way. The art stays decent throughout. The thing is, it all feels just decent when it could be more. Hopefully they do big things in the future with the outlaw storyline. This is just okay. Nova still boss though.

This was fun! A nice surprise.
Basically Peter David goes back in time when Young Peter Parker was in his devilious Black suit whooping butt and taking names. Also screwing Black Cat, because DAMN, she is fine. So in doing so we have a story that focuses mostly on Quinn (Mysterio) as he wants his revenge on Spider-man. This takes place in a different time period, so you'd expect no surprises, but there are a few.
What I thought Peter David did well was Parker being funny. Not only that but the Symbiote was actually scary, which we don't always see. Also, the art was actually pretty decent which is a surprise. Saying that, Mysterio just doesn't come across very scary, Kingpin feels like a odd cameo, and the ending is a little too simple for me.
But overall way better than I expected. A 3.5 out of 5.

A solid start to a new series. If read renew your vows or the old spidergirl series about a decade ago you might get similar vibes. Art is solid and the new main hero is interesting. I also like what they did with Peter.
Sure the villain is kind of blend and the "kill this woman to drive a man's future plot progress" feels old but it worked well enough. A 3.5 out of 5.

Shaw is a piece of fucking shit. Kate, don't let him get you.
Whohoooo death note is back!
Well for just a One-shot but damn it's good to have it back.
Ryuk is up to no good as he wants to have his death note spread to someone and them do some evil ass things. Sounds fun right? Well it is, because he decides to drop it into the lap of someone new with a VERY different motive than Light. This catches on as N, now the new L, must hunt down A-Kara.
While I did really enjoy most of this, and the art is fantastic, the story feels a tad rushed. Why? Because it's told in less than 80 pages. I wish we had atleast a whole book worth of the story. However, some nice twist and turns, a special cameo that made sense, and the feel of Death Note still being interesting is always nice.
I'd go for a new series even. A 4 out of 5.

House of X continues to be strong with Hickman's takeover of the X-Men brand.
Moira is trying to find her way. Who is that? Well she keeps living her life, dying, and restarting. The catch? She remembers everything in her past life. So through meeting Destiny she learns she has to figure out what she wants. Each life, besides her first, is something over the top and to do with mutants. Doing that she has to find out which path will work before her lives run out for good.
This is something pretty interesting. It was a risk to have Moira the main attention here. This has nothing really to do with the X-Men moving forward but I believe through her lives we will get a new future for X-Men we've never seen before. The art remains high quality and very much worth checking out for that alone.
It moves the plot forward a bit but not in the way I expected. I didn't love it like issue 1 but it's very solid. Can't wait to see where we go. 3.5-4 out of 5.

DCeased continues Tom Taylor's streak of being extremely talented at balances a zombie story and a superhero one.
This continues where the last one left off. The first part mostly about Joker and Harley. Then we move to Superman having to clear out the Daily Planet so he keep it safe. Then move on to Aquaman and let's just say...this is not a happy ending there. Last part is Superman going back to home to rescue Ma and Pa.
Overall, it's very good. Besides the Joker and Harley story, the rest was great. I really love the moments with Jon and Damien. Also the moment with Clark and Pa. So much big emotional bits with intense action. This series is building to be something special. A 4 out of 5.

Good news: This Steve Orlando Book doesn't suck.
Bad News: The first half is way better than the second half.
Good old Martian Manhunter is just trying to live his life in peace on earth. In doing so he takes the disguise of a former cop/detective. In doing so he works with a badass partner, Ashley Adams, in taking down crime bosses and such. But when she discovers who, or better yet, what he really is, will she still stand by him? What happened to J'onn J'onzz family? What is the creature on earth who wants his head?
Overall, the start is really good. Learning about J'onn J'onzz, his family life, and how he became partners with Ashley is all good stuff. Even the very ending is bitter sweet but works well. Somewhere around issue 8-11 it got muddy and the villain is blah. Also this art is really wish washy, and kind of ugly if I'm being honest.
Color me surprised though. Steve Orlando to me is top 5 worst writers for DC or just about any comic series I read from him, but this wasn't half bad. Maybe he'll produce some decent stuff now that he's freelancer and off DC. let's see. This is a 3 out of 5.
