This was fun for what it was. I'm about to see the new Godzilla movie so pretty excited!

So this is basically Godzilla just taking on most of his big foes. Funny enough the first one Godzilla faces off against is Zilla. Yes, the 1998 Godzilla movie everyone hates. And the fight goes in the way we expect. As the story goes on we face other monsters but the biggest threat in this one would be Destroyah. Godzilla and him go head to head, but he might need some help this time.

The art is fun and cartoony and gives a nice overall vibe, especially on the fights. The story, while simple, goes quickly. Watching Godzilla face off against big monsters is what I'm here for, and for the most part, it delivers. The negatives would probably be how simple the story is and sometimes the characters talk too much when really they're trying to say "Godzilla and monster "X" are about to fight".

Overall, pretty fun. I'll probably give volume 2 a read. A 3 out of 5.

Couldn't even finish. With the crossover coming out of nowhere, a aimless mission, and boring art, nothing came together.

The Punisher can be written really bad sometimes...but this is Greg Rucka. So we get the opposite here.

Actually, Rucka decides to try a new spin on things. Instead of focusing on Punisher himself he gives more of the book time on the cops and law enforcement as well as regular people view point on events including the Punisher. It gives the Punisher the more "grand" mythos you hear from bad guys but it's a nice twist here. Seeing the Punisher in action without the Max title and it's still pretty damn brutal. Also, Punisher goes toe to toe with the NEW Vulture and...damn what a fight.

The brutality you'd expect from a Punisher title is all here. The art gives Punisher a more anime look but it somehow still works here. The fights are great, the pacing is wonderful, nothing feels slow or boring which is really nice. The only negative I really thought was the start felt disconnected from the Punisher at first and takes a bit to warm up to.

Overall, Greg does his thing. A awesome crime story with different angles to keep everything fresh. A 4 out of 5.

This was pretty forgettable. Where's first volume wasn't amazing it had fun monster fights. The fights here were just meh, with villains who were otherwise interesting in the movies not so interesting here. A letdown.

Last volume was good, this....eh.

So Wonder Woman decides to go after Darkseid after the events of the last book. Which was a pretty big dramatic fucked up moment. Here? We start off with Jason throwing a party and then Wonder Woman getting pissed at him. It's goofy and dumb but it builds some relationship between brother and sister. Then the fight to Darkseid begins and...it's just a lot of punching, kicking, and...a really bad ending.

I enjoyed the stuff with Jason and Diana was nice. I also think the art is pretty solid and makes the world and fights pretty great. However, the rest of the storyline is kind of boring and the ending for certain characters couldn't be MORE anticlimatic if they tried. I also think the very ending is building up to something blah.

Like most of Robinson's recent stuff I like moments but he doesn't really seem to put a ton of effort into making interesting twist and turns. A 2-2.5 out of 5.

This volume was really good. I think Wood found his stride now.

So this is a single story of a terrible event. When the Military was trying to deesclate a situation with a crowd of people in trench-like coats and when one looked like he pulled out a weapon they began shooting. Nearly everyone died in the massive group. Years later one of those shooters claims it was not justified and tries to stand up to the military. Matty decides to report on this story but as he begins to get the story from multiple sources, things get worse and worse.

Overall, this is really fast paced for the story it is telling. It's a slowburn at first, and maybe not that interested, but quickly because a perspective sort of story. Where everyone viewed that day as something different. Who do you believe? Who shot first? Why did they shoot? All these questions build but the final answer is the real hard hitting moment. The last few pages are so fucked up but well done that I loved it. The retelling might have gotten a bit boring at times but the final issue made up for it and landed.

A for sure 4 out of 5 story.

This was pretty meh. Glad to see how much Ewing Improved. This is just the mighty avengers who dealing with the fallout of Axis but nothing is very interesting. A 2 out of 5.

After reading the newest Power Rangers stories, this was just okay.

This is the followup after the movie that came out a few years ago. I really enjoyed that movie and this was a decent followup. We have the rangers learning to work together, taking care of left over clay monsters, and facing off against two new villains. It's a run of the mil story but it helps to be attached to the characters if seen the movie.

Nothing amazing and art sometimes is murky and not all that interesting to look at but power rangers will enjoy. The two newer series are way better though. This is a 3 out of 5.

Here we go! A re-read I wanted to do for awhile.

When I was in High School I began working around 14. I liked doing it more than going to school, and would even cut school, just to go to work more to get money. Besides using it to make music I loved buying comics. I tried to keep up with Ultimate Spider-man and Amazing Spider-man back then among other titles. However, my aunt got me the Captain America Ominbus of Ed Brubaker as a gift for my 18th Birthday. I opened it up and fell in LOVE with the character right away.

More than 10 years later I've decided to re-read this entire run, this time finishing it, and giving my opinion. SO here we go.

The first arc of Brubaker's story is actually a slow burn that dives deep inside Steve's mind. He is going through a lot right now, especially with the loss of friends, and the breakup of the Avengers. He's not too sure what's real in his head either, as old memories are coming back but some seem made up...fake...the cube is in play. The first issue opens with Red Skull planning to exact revenge on the good old American hero but...Ed Brubaker cleverly pushes the expectations out of the way and issue 2-7 is Captain America catching up on a big plan involving some friends and more.

I love this first arc. It's the best way to create a atmosphere for Brubaker's style and run. Steve is a hero but he's also human. Him dealing with his own guilt and issues on top of trying to save everyone is compelling. On top of that the art is wonderful. Dark and moody but hopeful when needs to be. The twist and turns are great and make you realize this is a much more serious Captain America than you might expect.

My only negative maybe Monroe's single issue. I get why it's there, and it is well written, but I kind of didn't care much about him.

This is a great jump on point by the way for any fans of Captain America. A very easy 4.5. Go check it out.

WHOA! While the first issue of DCeased was fun and good setup, this issue was brutal and engaging the entire time.

So we pickup where the last one left off. Superman gets his son, Lois, and Damien to safety but before that we have Diana, Oliver, and Hal all chilling in a forest on their camping trip. of course things don't get well and someone turns! Then have Poison Ivy and Harley scene that has a big growing moment for the Joker's soon to be ex-girl. However, when she goes to say it's time to break up the Joker might not be who he used to be!

Man, this has so many twist and turns, so many OH shit moments, and a lot of heart. See, the key here is having our favorite characters feel. To see them scared, or worried, or hurt, but still be them instead of just a hollow version of themselves getting killed. I worry each page for one of my favorite characters to get killed and that's great. The art is wonderful, brutal, and nasty all in one. This is everything I could have hoped for and more.

A 5 out of 5 issue.
