This is one of those mind-twist-fucked-up-in-the-head-must-read-type-of-comics.
So where volume 1 had a nice build up and some sudden revelations, this one moves even quicker. Our hero gets caught and thrown in a psych ward, but is it really that? The priest and cop get more answers, and even more questions, when they discover who the individual they are hunting is. Then you get the most insane last issue here as two worlds begin to collide. Past and present meld together to create a truly "Oh shit" moment.
Gideon falls continues to be enthralling every step of the way. The art took a bit to get used to but now I love it. There's one shot in here that blew my mind of how cool and different it was. Dialogue is strong as usual and Jeff Lemire does a amazing job of spinning a complicated tale.
I really loved this volume and a easy 5 out of 5.

Zombies meet DC in a brutal way.
Darkseid is planning to unleash a virus through cyborg. He does just that but without realizing he infects himself. After he goes nuts, cyborg is teleported back to earth, and everyone begins to get infected. This is a race to see who gets infected first and who can prevent that.
This is a highly paced issue. It starts off with the Justice League fighting together to stop Darkseid once more. After some epic moments (and funny) the virus spreads. The story picks up pace as each page you get a sense of dread. People are becoming infected quickly and the issue ends with the Bat Manor and a few of our heroes might have become the undead!
It's a fun issue. Fast paced, the art was solid (though some weird moments of faces looking odd) and the gory is perfect levels. I want more. A 4 out of 5.

This didn't really work for me. Kind of a boring retelling. While Seeley's run had ups and downs in rebirth, this starts off really boring and never got better. A 2.5 out of 5 at best.
Besides the first issue, which was pretty cool. Watching heroes fighting and getting internal thoughts was fun. Especially hulk vs juggernaut. The rest? Just a bunch of boring AvX crap with a little bit of Senister sprinkled on top to bore you to death. A 2 out of 5.
I expected this to be full on garbo but this was really fun.
Murlen is back. Isn't he always? Such a nice fellow. He's a soul sucking vampire like creature who really hates Spider-man since he keeps escaping his grasp. This is really a 3 issue (and some other dumb mini-series thrown in) to lead up to Spider-Geddon. But unlike Spider-geddon, which was just okay, this story was pretty fun.
Watching Peter trying to surive and nearly getting murdered is always fun. Why? Because get to see him use his brain to survive and tactics that aren't normally applied since he's fighting a nearly unstoppable force. So he can finally go all out. You also got a fun supporting cast with both Miles and J.J. The art is pretty solid too.
The bad part is it's so short. 3 issues fly by then get two crappy side issue that both suck. So while not the greatest story the pacing and fun action set pieces were all solid. A 3 out of 5.

This was actually pretty solid. I should have went back and read Kelly Sue Deconnick first run at the character before jumping in on her 2nd.
So this is when Carol takes the mantle and becomes Captain Marvel. I kind of love the first issue being about her not wanting to, and respecting Marvell, but Captain America is like "Listen here homeslice, you're a good person. You've protected a lot of people. You are HONORING his name. So do it. For us. For you." And that is one of the big deciding factors for her. The first issue is actually great.
Then we get into territory I usually hate. Time travel. Captain Marvel gets thrown into the past, and oh joy, it's so fun...Not. Honestly, it's not horrible. You do get to see her in action and her powers and skillset a pretty great. I actually enjoy the art here, very water brush style. But the storyline is same old same old helping the past with her great powers but nothing really changes.
Overall, a solid introduction but nothing mindblowing. I do like how Carol is written here though. Her internal monologue makes her interesting. Will keep reading. A 3 out of 5.

Whoa, a Captain Marvel book I really enjoyed. I knew it would eventually happen.
This one is a lot more family/friend drama, and I think that's when Carol becomes more interesting. With dealing with her dying friend and her cancer, to working on defending the world from a giant T-Rex, with also dealing with her own sickness she is developing, this poor super lady has a lot on her plate. Once she starts helping others it just goes to show how much it is effecting her. She's gain headaches that are so killer than if she continues flying it'll wipe out her memories complete after a brain leak. So it's best she doesn't fly, but someone is behind all this, and won't let that happen.
This volume works better because get to see Carol just living her everyday life. You get to see her friends and family she cares about. You enjoy this character for everything she stands for. That's why this worked so well, with solid pacing, and super fun set pieces. Sometimes the art was great but other times it was very very scratchy and hard to see what was happening.
Overall a really impressive volume that helps grow Carol into Captain Marvel! A 4 out of 5.
