This was a really nice surprise. A retelling of Jason Todd's origin but in the Batman: Arkham Knight Universe.
So this is basically Jason Todd just going over how he became Robin, how he nearly died, and how he came back as the Arkham Knight. This is a more modern update, and this Jason is even more of a asshole than the norm. Still, what's actually pretty cool about this volume is watching him plan his attack on Batman. Step by step you see him attack Batman and crew but from behind, using people like Deathstroke, to weaken them. While doing that you get the backstory, and a more brutal version of what happened to the 2nd boy wonder.
Good: The art is really good and the fights are very dark and fucked up at times. The rage of Jason Todd can be felt from the very start, and while over the top, you can even understand his reasoning at times. The plotting of Arkham Knight is pretty vicious and it sets up a good villain for the Batman.
Bad: It's nothing very knew. If you know least the basics of Death in the family you would know this story and the end result. Also, it is set up volume, so no grand closure.
Overall, a exciting and fun retelling of Jason Todd's sad origin and death, and the birth of Arkham Knight (Red Hood in the normal universe). I really enjoyed the games so this was a nice set up to give more insight on the villain of the third game. A 3.5 out of 5, but I'll bump it to a 4.

Outsiders, Vol. 2: Sum of All Evil
Sean Parsons, Scott Hanna, Tom Raney, Tom Derenick, Will Conrad, Kevin Conrad, Judd Winick
The Outsiders are starting to come together as a team, but is the leader lacking the emotion needed to run it safely?
So with the last mission going bad and nearly losing a team member, things aren't going exactly the way Nightwing wants. The first half of this deals with a Satan looking motherfucker fighting off against our heroes but we have a Shazam Jr. to the rescue. Yeah, it's a tad confusing. Next up we also have Roy returning to the fold but not doing as well as he hoped but his best buddy is there to remind him of who he is. Last but not least is a arc about 5 villains getting sprung from prison from a mastermind evil bastard, but of course they depart him and do their own thing and it's up to the Outsiders to stop them.
Good: The art and fights are really energetic and fun. The dialogue is fun and keeps it flowing well. I liked the demon from hell guy because he was both super strong and actually funny. Watching the heroes come together and fight is pretty cool too. I love the difference of everyone and how they all agree and disagree, and making it a compelling group of heroes.
Bad: The villains of the 2nd half aren't nearly as strong as the first demon looking dude and take up too much page time.
Overall, another fun and exciting volume of Outsiders. This series is a little offbeat at times but always enjoyable. A 4 out of 5.

This is so cute, and so sad, and I feel emotional now.
So the story starts off fairly simple. Shoya is our main character here, and to be frank, he's a asshole. He's a kid but he's truly a little bully who gets worse and worse as his "friends" cheer him on the more he abuses and hurts Shoko, the other main character of this series. Shoko is deaf and so she's trying her best to be a normal kid but with the disability plus the bullying that's becoming near impossible. But what happens when Shoya becomes the victim and gets bullied? The tables turn in this emotional rollercoaster.
Good: I love the art. It's simple but very effective, especially the emotions. Shoko is the most adorable child ever and I want to protect her from these mean piece of shit kids. It hurts even more since I can relate to Shoya sadly, as I was a bully and then got builled. It's a nice wakeup call but it also is hard to relive in a lot of ways. The ending leaves it open to some interesting future developments!
Overall, a great manga about real issues that people don't understand or deal with. Kids can learn to be bullies or get bullied really quick, and this shows it well. A 4.5 out of 5.

Okay years later I finally sat down and re-read this (again) for the third time to see if my opinion changed. Did it? No.
It's still a solid fun title. Basically, revival is about a bunch of dead people coming back to life. No, that as zombies, just them regular selves, or so we think. The story here revolves around a few characters, one major one being Dana who is a cop trying to solve what is happening. Her sister, who is a revival, trying to find out who killed her. A news reporter who broke the revival news. And a demon hunter. Oh and there's a alien looking spirit thing floating around in the background.
Good: The art is pretty solid with interesting enough character designs to separate characters. I enjoyed most of the dialogue, it's easy and fun, and flows well. The twist and turns will keep you entertain as nothing really feels boring when reading multiple character's stories.
Bad: The genre mixing can be super fun, here it's just decent. They clash a bit and the vibe/tone is hard to place. I also think some characters are just more interesting than others, and our main hero, Dana, is one of the least interesting sadly.
This a solid horror mystery series. It's not mindblowing but it works on the level to keep it entertaining. I'll give the first four volumes a chance to see if it captures me since I gave up on volume 3 last time. A 3 out of 5.

A pretty solid issue though I can start to see the frustration for some when it comes to plot progression.
This issue mainly focuses on Superman coming out to the world and letting people know about Sancutary. As he does that we get to see multiple characters and their adventures of heroism but how it might have effected them. At the same time we have a big twist that only Booster Gold figured out before Batman and Flash did. Last but not least we have Harley ready to finally murder and Batgirl for some reason helping?
Good: The art is still A-grade awesome. There's moments that work real well, like the Flash reveal and I quite enjoyed the Superman speech. I feel his burden and pain when he sees his friends and fellow heroes hurt.
Bad: The Harley stuff feels way far-fetched. I'm hoping this is somehow all in someones head or dream, because it feels out of character.
Overall, a good issue but not great. Heroes in Crisis isn't the spectacular series I had hope for but it's not bad by any means. A 3 out of 5.

Mostly boring title with not much worth reading. The art was good atleast. I really can't remember much from this so not even a full review for it, sorry. A 2 out of 5.
You know what? This wasn't half bad.
So take probably the meanest X-men characters and clump em together to take on the evil's of the world. Magneto, Psylock, Sabertooth, and more and create a team of badass warriors to face off against the worst of the worst. This is similar to X-Force in ways yet not as heroic and maybe not as bloody but still just as rugged. Can this team of Uncanny X-men stop the evil's of the world by being just a tad bit evil?
Good: The strongest part of this series is easily the team. They get along really well, or actually bad, but keep it entertaining throughout. The fights are pretty great, and vicious, as well as the art being solid throughout the series.
Bad: The Dark Riders are the villains and honestly they are boring. Easily the weakest part of the book is whenever they are on the screen and no one else. No one cares about them.
Overall, a fun little get together of the rough and tough X-Men. Not amazing but good enough I want to keep reading. A 3 out of 5.

Quill: You never heard of us?
Prisoner: No one has.
Quill: We're the guardians of the galaxy.
Prisoner: You're a liar. You made that up.
Quill: No, it's real.
Prisoner: Are you kidding me? I thought you were going to bring the fucking avengers!
This, to me, was a ton of fun if not a tad confusing.
So the guardians are on missions with different groups. Of course Quill's dumbass is alone but when he goes to a prison, hilarity begins, and holy shit is it funny. Then we have Rocket and his group taking on villains while Adam Warlock and his crew head off to the biggest fight of their life to change their fate of the galaxy. Oh and Drax and company head to...hell? yeah, this is a zanny adventure right here.
Good: The art worked on all levels, and some of these spreads and epic fights are stunning. The humor is so fucking funny at points. Quill was cracking me the hell up. Also, the last two issues are really interesting and something way different.
Bad: It can be confusing. There's a lot of guardians and so some I'm just like 'Uhhhh okay"
Overall, fun and exciting. This is what I wanted from the first volume. It amazes me this is the same guy who's writing the current Titans series (it sucks). This is a 3.5 out of 5, but I'll bump it to a 4.

Harrow County is heating up as a old friend might betray Emmy!
Bernice has lost her mentor. After the Snake keeper who taught Bernice everything dies, someone begins to turn her against Emmy. Blaming both the witch and the Haints for the death of Lovely. In doing so Bernice goes after Emmy, but will Emmy fight back? What will happen to our hero and also the many haints starting to follow her?
Good: The art as always works so well. It's so unique to this series, so special, I can't help but love it. The moments with Emmy and Bernice are harsh to view since they became such good friends. The haints get a little more depth, especially certain ones, and you actually feel for them. The ending is a great cliffhanger.
Bad: The way Bernice completely went against Emmy so quick felt a little forced and without too much merit.
Overall, great stuff. Harrow only ever had one volume that slipped some but other than that it's been great. A 4 out of 5.

Holy smokes, loved this volume.
So first half is all about children getting abducted and brought into child slavery. It's disturbing to say the least, and when well done, like here, it's hard to view but compelling. With so many mediums doing stories on this, a few hit the mark, and this did. Especially getting personal for Roy. The next arc is about finding out who's been feeding the Outsiders their information. Last but not least is the final issue which revolves around a traitor being a part of the Outsiders group!
Good: Art remains good and the fights here and really brutal. A two page I love is when Gracie finds the slave owner, oh man it's great. The flow of this volume is the best so far, giving us interesting plotlines over and over again. Roy and Nightwing relationship breaking, the love relationships growing, the slave storyline, the traitor, the liar who's been giving info, all comes together here with a nice big cliffhanger.
Bad: Almost nothing. I really enjoyed this. Maybe the last issue feeling to close to Identity Crisis but that's it.
Overall, fantastic. This is my favorite volume of the run so far. Judd knows how to balance storylines with character development moments. Lots of sad moments, lots of oh shit moments, and even some humor moments. A easy 5 out of 5 for me.
