Super Sons is just a pure joy to read.

So what do we have here? Well, Robin and the Teen Titans go on a mission together but the villain turns Robin to a old man. Jon joins the group to take down the evil bad guys! Then the next chapter is Jon and Damien getting sucked into a new world. Last issue is basically Jon learning to fly again and Damien and Jon get their own headquarters!

Good: The art is amazing. Really. It's so vibrant and joyful, and the effects with the attacks look awesome. Jon is such a delight whenever he interacts with the titans or with Damien. Damien and Jon's relationship is really well done and interesting, and very funny. I also think the very last issue captures this series perfectly as well as the teen titans team up.

Bad: The whole other world storyline drags on a bit and a little meh at points with the pacing.

Overall besides the middle, this is so damn fun. Super Sons remains super fun, and it's pretty funny. Damien and Jon are the best. A 4 out of 5.

Super Sons remains super freaking fun even with a mini-crossover event.

So future Tim drake is back. You know, the one who tried to kill Batwoman. Now that he's back he's not after her anymore, now he wants Superboy! He hunts down Bruce and Clark first, takes them out of commission and then aims his targets on the boy. Now it's up to Damien and the Teen Titans to fight off the future killer Batman before he gets what he wants.

Good: The art once again remains very well done. The surprise cameos of certain character pre-flashpoint is wonderful throwback and really fun. The interactions between Jon and Damien was really well done and watching a friendship grow is awesome. The ending leads to some interesting future possibilities.

Bad: I think Tim is a little over the top from the future. You'd think he'd talk about it, being as smart as he is, instead of always trying to kill.

Overall a really fun mini-event. I wish Superman went on forever because I'd keep reading it. A 4 out of 5.

Buffy season 9 comes back a lot stronger than the last two volumes of season 8.

SO the magic in the world is gone. There's no more. That's not all though. With the Seed crushed and destroyed we're having our favorite Slayer kind of on her own. Willow mad at her for not having magic anymore. Vampires have turned feral and now more like zombies than vampires. We might even have a new warrior on Buffy's side of things by the end here, and the return of Spike.

Good: Really enjoyable moments with Buffy and the crew, especially Willow and Spike. I also enjoyed the twist on who's the villain, classic buffy moment. The pacing and storyline here are leaps and bounds better than last season's ending.

Bad: The art is still just okay. Muddy and hard to tell who is who sometimes. I also think the ending kind of plain.

Overall it's a solid fun first volume of the season. More down to earth. I'm thinking overall this season will be better.

Pains me to score this one so low since love Nightwing and I usually enjoy Tim Seeley work but this felt...weak?

So this is the end of seeley's run on Nightwing. While it ramped up and got strong in the middle of his run, the last volume wasn't great and this one is even worse. The Return of Raptor should be fun and exciting but instead came off as dull and boring. Every single moment you can predict as Raptor tries to take apart Dick's life piece by piece till he's in misery. Not to mention Nightwing teaming up with Blockbuster, the new blockbuster, also made no sense. Anyway, it comes down to a big showdown that...isn't all that interesting.

Good: There's a few funny moments here, and I still like the way Tim writes nightwing himself.

Bad: The fights are boring, the story itself is pretty lazy and predictable. The cliche moments with the betrayals is so annoying. Not a good send off for Defacer and her crew. What was with the last few pages?

Overall, a very weak ending to a otherwise pretty enjoyable, if not shaky, run. A 2 out of 5.

HOLY SHIT!

Talk about a upgrade. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed some of volume 1 of Ice Cream Man but some of the stories didn't do much for me. This one? Goddamn, every story hit me hard.

So what is Ice Cream Man? It's basically a bunch of stories broken up, and sometimes slightly connecting, but all centered around this evil entity known as Ice Cream Man. He's always in the background, or the main threat in each story. In this title we have the first story of a man jumping off a building and as he falls he begins to question his life. The next one is about a man's life, or journey through life in three different life choices. One meeting his wife, one taking care of a dog, and the last being kidnapped and tortured. The next story is about a little girl who claims she can still see her friend, who has passed from cancer. Last but not least is a story of two EMT drivers on a night out and every horrible moment around the city with them driving.

Good: Talk about hard hitting stories that catch you on an emotional level. I especially felt a strong sadness reading the story about the little girl who lost her friend. Dealing with death is never easy and by the end you see childhood coming TO a ending. It hits hard. I also thought the EMT story, despite how dark it was, showed the true nature of humanity. The last two stories are very enjoyable even if not as good as the others, but that's okay, because all 4 are engaging. I'd also like to note the artist here hits the nail on creepy tones and atmosphere.

Bad: TOO SHORT!!!

Overall, a EXCELLENT volume of Ice Cream Man. While volume 1 was good, with moments of greatness. This whole volume sucked me in from the start. A 5 out of 5.

The flash hits his 700th issue (goddamn) and that brings back the big bad GRODD!!!!

So when Grodd returns with meena and multiplex on his side Barry is outnumbered. Even more so, Grodd steals the speed force away from him, making him feel completely useless. So what does Barry do? He gathers his new Flash family! Wally, Wallace, Avery, and....GODSPEED! Together they work to face off against Grodd. However, is everyone really on The Flash side? That's the big question!

Good: The fights are super fun here because of Grodd's imposing presence and then got Flashes going super fast fighting it's fun to watch. Watching Wally fight with everyone again was awesome, and even Godspeed has some great moments. I also enjoyed the ending a lot as it brought on some really interesting situations.

Bad: I thought Grodd could have been scarier at times, and I also think Meena joining him even with mind control was kind of dumb.

Overall, super fun arc. I know not everyone is keen on this run but I'm having a blast. A 4 out of 5.

I figured with a new creative team coming we'd get a jump in quality from the last volume. Well it's better...but not great.

So the Judge is back in town. Oh, you're wondering who that is? It's a guy who promises you whatever you want, but first you must do his bidding. He basically has control of you with this offer and makes you do horrible things. This lets him kill/hurt people that normally are untouchable. Nightwing has fought him before, as both Robin, and Dick, and now as Nightwing. CAN HE STOP HIM FOR THE FINAL TIME!?

Good: I enjoyed seeing Nightwing have a friend for once instead of being all alone. The Judge did some fucked up things, one especially screwed up thing with a father and son. I thought the annual or issues at the end with Damien were cute and fun, even if Roy and Damien were acting a bit out of character. Art is pretty solid.

Bad: The pacing of the story is way too long winded. A little too boring at times, and Judge doesn't come across as scary enough to carry 6 issues. This is a bit overstuffed too and doesn't keep entertaining all through out.

Overall, a decent adventure for Nightwing. Better than volume 5 but still not great. We can do better. A 3 out of 5.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

So I finished up Batwoman volume 2 last night and I'm glad to report it's as good as volume 1. I can't believe I waited this long to read New 52 Batwoman. Now I know why people love her.

So kids have gone missing and Batwoman is on the case. Simple enough, right? This book jumps around through various timelines to show you how each character is building towards confrontation. A mixture of mystery, drama, love life, and death all combined to make a compelling, dark, twisted tale here. Will Kate be able to save the children? Who's behind the kidnapping!? Gotta read this volume to find out!

Good: The art is a lot better in this volume for me. Easier to follow and the way it flows is great. I'm really digging the character development for Kate. Similar to Bruce in some ways, but a lot more trusting in others. The villains are all interesting and twisted in such ways I can only expect in Gotham.

Bad: The storytelling of this volume can be a bit jarring and confuse people.

Overall, really fun and exciting volume. I'm liking this series a lot, I hope it stays this good.

Mother Panic jumps into a future...we've seen this a million times. However, luckily, Mother Panic does a awesome job of it.

After the strange events of Milk Wars, we have our favorite super "don't give a fuck" hero taking down villains in a even worse Gotham than present day. Reminding me of Robocop like Detroit, this Gotham is overrun with crime even more than usual, and Mother Panic here decides to recruit her sidekick in battling the evils of this world. When a new group of maniacs come around, taking down some of the most fearful villains ever (including even the joker) things get dicey for our hero when there might be a hero-turned-bad who comes into play in this futuristic Gotham.

Good: The art is solid throughout, throwing some really cool fight scenes, and sick designs on some characters. I also love the way Jody writes everyone here, all feeling like real people, living in a crazy superhero world. I also thought the pacing was quick and fun, giving us enough world building to be invested but giving us character moments to care. The ending is satisfying even if it is the end (for now).

Bad: Sometimes the storytelling can go a little wonky and character motives don't make sense a bit too often at times.

Overall, very very fun. I want more. I really enjoyed the 2nd half of Mother Panic series and it's a shame it's coming to a end. Jody Houser did a great job of creating a new hero. Give me more please! A 4 out of 5.

This was good but man oh man, did it get a little too wordy.

So first half is mostly about Arsenal and his revamped origins for Rebirth storyline with Ollie. We learn how he became Red Arrow/Speedy but also how he fell into his drug addiction, while also getting a current storyline to help bring the heroes back together. The 2nd storyline is about the four horseman coming to Star city and basically destroying everything important to green arrow. A mixture of superheroish and political warfare begins the forth volume of green arrow!

Good: I enjoyed the art as always. Light and uplifting, giving us a real fun adventure feel. I thought the Arsenal revamped history was actually pretty decent. Not the best I've ever seen but fun none the less. I also liked seeing Ollie struggle and despite the odd ending it was great to see a hero a bit full of himself fall on his ass.

Bad: The four horseman storyline gets tired quick though. Long and drawn out. Not as exciting as I once hoped it would be. I also thought the fights here weren't all that fun or entertaining and everyone became to secondary to Green Arrow.

Overall a decent volume, some good moments. I wanted more with Oliver and company working together but it kind of flat lined a bit at the end. A 3 out of 5.
