This is a decent green lantern story but after reading John's and Humphies runs it's hard to be blown away by this.
So this focuses on the "other" green lanterns. You know, the ones no one really puts on their top 3 (Well except maybe Guy) but that's what this is about. What do the other green lanterns who aren't the "chosen" ones deal with? We get to see how easily you can get killed in space, and this is basically a revenge story wrapped up in Space Cop Drama.
Good: I liked the characters. I always enjoy Guys smart ass, or Natu's anger filled ways. I enjoyed some of the space cop fights as it looks pretty awesome.
Bad: Some of the art was a bit much at times, too much going on in one panel. I thought the storyline, and the whole "trick, gotcha!" thing was kind of lame.
Overall it's a fun little story by itself but nothing special. I think we can do better with this cast. A 2.5 out of 5.

I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Remember that Dredd movie everyone went crazy over in like 2010? I didn't love it.
I know. You're in shock now. The internet loves it. The people love it. How dare I? HOW DARE I!?!?!? But really, I found the whole thing just okay. Sure, some of the action scenes were intense and really cool but the plot? Or lack of plot I should say. Anyway, it was just okay. So I figured I'd try the comic, see if it fared better. I know it's a long running series but figured I'd try a more recent version of Judge Dredd. I like Duane a lot on his Cable series and surprised I enjoyed his X series as a crazy slasher hero comic. So how did Dredd do?
Well this book is really a bunch of stories connecting slowly. It's a world building book that throws you into a futuristic ghetto and we get to see how the judges interact with the people but also how people live with robots. Each story, ranging from a few pages about robbery, to robots going rogue, to people kidnapping families, all link mostly because they have a Judge or two in the book. It feels very villain of the week storylines.
Good: I actually really liked the one about the robbery and the robot betraying the human. When get treated like shit you get to turn on the owner. Very cool. I also thought the ending started to pick up steam and we got a central story.
Bad: Some of the art is bad. Like I couldn't tell what was happening. I also thought the Judges lacked personalities so couldn't get attached to anyone. This also felt like I should know the world before jumping in.
Oevrall, this was a decent look into the world of Judge Dredd. I dunno if I'll come back to it but it was cool to see it for a bit. A 3 out of 5.

The end for Judd Winick Solo Green Arrow Run (He writes more with Black Canary/Green Arrow Marriage comics) but this is it!
We find out how Green Arrow became good enough to handle slade 1 on 1 in a sword fight. How he was able to outmaneuver the assassin. It was actually pretty great to actually see ollie train. To find his new way of fighting the bad guy. . The next arc is Red Hood and Brick verse Batman and Green Arrow. Last but not least is Green Arrow throwing in his political white flag and proposing to his new wife!
Good: I also enjoyed watching Mia and Conner get closer to their father but also becoming better themselves. The fight between Brick and Batman was funny aswell as entertaining and so was Ollie verse Red Hood. The fights all were pretty cool and much more tactical than previous issues.
Bad: The art was a little iffy. Really hard to tell what the hell was happening half the time. Especially facial expressions. Also the last arc kind of fluttered out.
Overall it wasn't the best volume but a very solid closing. A 3.5 out of 5. I'll round it up.

Man my X-Men reading is all over the place. This would have been good to read before I read Bendis X-Men and Uncanny X-Men run. Anyhow...
This is the story of two men, Logan and Scott, as they begin to drift apart. Both obviously care about the X-Men and mutants in general alot, but things are coming undone. After an attack by Quentin Quire, exposing all humans in the room's deepest darkest secrets, the world turns on the X-men. This is no surprise, but now the X-Men must fight back. This is where Wolverine and Cyclops can't seem to agree. This turns into a brutal fight between the two and ending with the separation of the X-men.
Good: I really enjoyed some parts of this a lot. Mostly wolverine talking to idle and also really enjoyed the moments where Logan and Scott respect each other, but then also the parts they are trying to kill each other. The Climax, while a bit forced, feels like a new start for the X-Men. Also, the beginning of cyclops going more radical.
Bad: As someone who likes Hope a lot, I felt she was just a side character here. I also thought the art, while sometimes good, could also be horrible (issue 2...) and also, like I said earlier, some of the plot points feel a bit forced.
This is a decent mini-event to show where the X-Men will end up. I guess next up is to read Killeon Uncanny. This is a 3 out of 5.

This was a fun little story though I felt it must have been canceled out of nowhere with that ending they set up.
So this story is basically revolving around a friend getting killed and bringing together old friends or associates. With that Misty Knight, Storm, Black Panther, and Luke cage all come together. Each issue gives a little more insight to the man who's bringing them all together but also to tie them into one big reveal at the end. It's a murder mystery mixed with some strong political messages.
Good: Enjoyed the teaming up aspect here. It's always nice to see heroes working together and especially some lesser known ones like Misty Knight. I also thought some of the fights were really fun, and each character got to shine for a bit.
Bad: The big reveal felt okay at best though and the ending felt like set up for a team we will never get. I also thought the art sometimes felt rushed.
Overall this was pretty fun. I think a lot more fun than Black panther main story. Ta-Nehisi Coates can have a lot of fun dialogue when he wants to, and this proves he can do better than what he offered in the main BP Line (Though I only read volume 1, maybe it gets better?) Either way this is a 3 out of 5.

A lackluster ending to a decent start.
So first arc is about a man-killing disease that is hurting all the men in Gotham so all the women, both villains and heroes, team up to stop the people who have created this disease. The 2nd arc wraps up the big twist in the first volume, I won't spoil it, but it basically closes up loose ends and a bitter farewell to the series.
Good: Some of the dialogue is fun. I enjoyed seeing all the women team up and kick some butt for sure and the very very end is nice.
Bad: The storylines and plots are too on the nose. Too cheesy at times. I also thought the pacing were entirely too slow. I was bored half way through.
Overall this is just okay ending. I enjoyed volume 1 but 2 and 3 have not been working for me. A 2 out of 5.

Whoa talk about boring as can be. While I had a complaint that Hellblazer (The Vertigo one) can be a tad boring or badly paced at times, this volume really shows the difference between actual plotting and nothing. Not to mention the art is pretty bad here. I didn't like this at all and only got about 2/3rds of the way before giving up.
And so comes the 2nd Harrow County arc, and is it as good as the first? Uhh....YES!
So Emmy is getting used to going around town helping people. She has powers some would only dream of but she's still pushing on the good fight with trying to do good in the world. She even visits other ghouls and demons to try to convince them she's there for them again. Then, out of nowhere, her twin sister arrives in town. Kammi right off the bat pretends to care for her sister a lot but you can see the evil motives right away.
Good: Still love the art. It's got this gothic flare that truly makes it unique and different than anything else. I also thought the creatures in this were really cool and got to see a lot more. I'm a huge fan of the way Emmy is written and her motives and story. The ending, while dark, seems fitting.
Bad: The whole twin evil sister thing has been done and it wasn't anything new or twist-like.
Overall, a very very solid followup. While I'm not a very big fan of Bunn's work on Marvel, his independent work so far is proving to be real solid. A 4 out of 5.

I just couldn't really get into this much. I get what it's going for, and I know how important it is to talk about racism and address it, but this just didn't work for me. Maybe it's a product of its time but it felt very...hamfisted? Best way I can probably describe it.
It starts off interesting enough. Watching two innocent mutants, who happen to be black, gun downed by the extreme religious pieces of shit ran by Stryker. When there's an attack on the X-Men, the X-men and Magneto actually team up for a bit to take down the evil. This is kind of, and I really mean KIND OF, a blueprint for X2 but I think X2 is way better.
Good: The themes and the start are solid.
Bad: Everything else.
I know people LOVE this story but this didn't do ANYTHING for me. A 1.5 out of 5.

Every single time I open a comic I hope for the best. Trust me, I don't ever want to READ a bad book. So when I opened the newest Batgirl I had some hope but my expectations were super low after hating the first volume. I actually skipped volume 2 but figured I wouldn't miss much. So I jumped right into volume 3 and...WHOA! This was SUPER fun!
So what's Batgirl up to lately? The first two issues are fun small little self contained stories. One focusing on Batgirl helping figure out what happened to a missing girl who joined a swim team. Then we have another small story of Batgirl helping a little girl finding her doggie. Or famous doggie actually from Instagram. Then the main story comes into play which focuses on Nightwing and Batgirl tracking down a old enemy (or so they think) and at the same time getting flashbacks of their first adventures together and falling in love.
Good: I loved everything with Teen Barbara and Dick. They grew up fighting crime together, and of course starting falling for each other. So seeing that wasn't only cute but well done. Then we have them tackling more adult issues, especially after lately what Dick has been through and how he's adjusting to life with his girlfriend. This is pretty damn fun too. I also really enjoyed the storyline and the "villain" even if it was more of a backdrop to the love story here. Oh and the single issue of Batgirl helping the girl find the dog was super cute.
Bad: The very first issue was pretty crappy. It felt honky and campy and not in a good way. I mean did we need to find out why a girl is electricity and trapped inside a pool? Besides few funny moments this was meh.
Overall, SUPER big surprise. This is going to make me go back to volume 2 AND read volume 4. Batgirl just jumped up for me into the "gotta read" section from coming from "Super crappy" at the start. Nice job Hope!
