The final volume of Kieron's run on Young Avengers and it ends strong.
This time Loki's entire plan comes out in the open. This is dealing with Mother and Loki deal and it's twisted turns. Watching the group find out the truth, and go to save their friend, only to find out Loki is the backstabbing person we'd expect him to be is kind of heartbreaking. Then we have two final issues here of a goodbye to the Young Avengers and it mostly is one big party of everyone talking to each other.
Good: I still enjoy most of the characters. All of them are interesting and fun and they feel almost like a family. The humor is pretty solid too and Kieron gives a nice heartfelt goodbye to everyone. Loki's goodbye is actually sad even.
Bad: THe plot itself is okay. As always. I can't seem to dig Kieron's style of plotting.
Overall a solid closing. A 3.5 out of 5. I really enjoyed it a lot. This series never went to great for me but enjoyable all the way through because of the cast.

Dang been awhile since I didn't love a Rick Remender book.
So this is about a Glory, who kind of just had enough of her life. Freedoms are being stripped from her and she decides to take control of her life. She can't save her father because she doesn't have the money and healthcare is a joke (Wow, this is pretty close to the truth now haha) And so she needs to rob and steal. So begins the mission but she isn't a trained robber and of course everything that can go wrong will go wrong.
Good: The art is pretty interesting, I like the design of a lot of the world and characters. Glory is a interesting enough character and her struggle with the system and it's fuck ups is good.
Bad: The characters, especially the side cast, is so uninteresting. I really tried to care but I just couldn't. I also thought the ending was full. A little too much talking about nothing in the middle. I just...I guess I couldn't connect with anyone but Glory.
Overall it wasn't horrible but I wanted to like it more and couldn't. Which is a shame, cause Rick Remender is top 5 writers for me right now. A 2 out of 5.

This isn't bad, which I kind of expected from reading issue 1 back in the day, but it's not great. Which sucks because Peter David is usually a great writer.
So Ben Riley is trying to figure out his life. He's kind of a prick though. He scams people, lies, and saves people for money mostly. So when he convinces a crime lord boss that he can save her kid from a disease, which he can't, he becomes even more scheme-like. That's when Kaine, the Scarlet Spider (The real one) comes into play to stop Ben.
Good: Kaine. He's awesome. He's by far my favorite Spider character in a long time. His solo series, while it got messy by the end, was really fun. So seeing him on the hunt for Ben, who truly is a piece of shit, is great.
Bad: Ben is not a good main character. Why? Because he's a asshole. Which could be fine if he had SOME redeeming qualities but he really doesn't. Also, the art is just average. The plotting isn't anything special and feels filler-like.
Overall, I know Peter David could do better than this. This is so average it hurts. A 2.5 out of 5.

Ohhhhh so now we got Yuzu a new love interest. The twist and turns of incest lesbian love continues!
Yuzu is trying to figure out her feelings with Mei. When she asks her how she feels she says the romantic kiss meant nothing (LIAR!!!) and so now they are trying to be just normal sisters. Then in comes Yuzu old friend, who was like a little sister to her growing up (man, a lot of lesbian little/big sister loving here) and she's a trouble maker. Seeing up Mei to look like a slut, tricking Yuzu, and being a horrible person. Will Yuzu and Mei love last!?
Good: The art is still really solid. Balances the romance, the comedy, and the sexy kissing scenes. Yuzu and Mei now have a somewhat interest antagonist. She's a bitch, she's cunning, and she's here to wreck things. Our two lovers are in trouble! Also, the last scene is getting intense with mei making some big moves and looking like she ready for some loving!
Bad: It's still pretty trashy. The humor misses quite a few times.
Overall this is just pure entertainment. It's hot when it needs to be, romantic when it wants to be, somewhat funny at times (though tries to hard) and it's well drawn. So I think I'll give this one a 4 because I actually enjoyed the villain here. A 3.5 out of 5 but I'll give it a 4.

Moon Knight and I have this weird connection. It's like I want to love his comics but I can never really get FULLY invested despite loving the idea behind him.
So here it is. The Brain Wood run which is 6 issues. This time we get more a psychological warfare type fight. With a character who wants a certain political figure dead she begins to recruit people to do her dirty work. When Moon Knight believes she is trying to recruit him he goes face to face with her. In doing so you find out her true intentions, but even deeper, get to see the inside workings of Mr. Knight's mental stability.
Good: The story itself is interesting (even if I didn't love the exacution) the dialog is tight and easy to follow without it being TOO big or "MYSTERIOUS" just because it's Moon Knight. I also enjoyed the pacing, was quick and easy read. I thought the start was really cool to see Moon Knight in his detective phase.
Bad: The ending just kind of gave me the "okay" feeling. I want to feel something for the ending of a Moon Knight story but like most I've read I just get the "Well that's it?" type feeling. Also, the main antagonist here is just okay.
Overall a fine enough story. Moon Knight doesn't have a bad run yet, but also not an amazing one. So once more a 3 out of 5 for our crazed hero here.

Green Arrow, Vol. 7: Heading Into the Light
Ron Garney, Tom Fowler, Jim Calafiore, Paul Lee, Judd Winick
This is really a dark arc. Expected from being a semi-followup to Identity Crisis.
Someone is hunting down Oliver and his family. They know who he really is, this isn't a game. They went after his home. So now Oliver recruits Black Lightning to hunt down Doctor Light because Oliver thinks for sure it's him. At the same time Doctor Light plays them both and goes after Oliver's family. Of course it's never that simple as Doctor Light is ALSO teamed up with another villain and they make it twice as hard on the heroes.
Good: I loved the stakes feel real. Without this being a Batman title you know some heroes could die. Some might have here, or badly injured, hell, it'll be interesting to see how they survive. I also really enjoyed the action scenes, both brutal, and highly entertaining. The dialog is solid and Doctor Light rapish ways are on full display here making him pretty creepy.
Bad: The art can be a little weird, especially the lips and facial expressions.
Overall loved this arc. I'm a huge fan of Identity crisis so I had extra enjoyment here. I am eager to see how Oliver gets through this. I give this one a easy 4 out of 5.

So we go for the first half, which is calm and thought-provoking a bit. To the 2nd half, which is disturbing and brutal.
So Kei is trying to deal with the fact the world might end in a week. So he decides to spend as much time as he can with his girlfriend. It's kind of great because it shows how much the character grew throughout the series. ON top of that the lovely pop icon actually comes on to Kei but will the young horny man take advantage of her? Then the second half you have that creepy middle schooler Nishi and when he gets picked on in school he just goes berserk and kills his whole classroom.
Good: I liked the idea of the world ending. It gives the characters time to reflect and try to figure out a plan. Kei finally makes steps to be a actual hero that helps push him to the "well done" character. I also thought the Nishi murder spree was kind of shocking, which I guess shouldn't be at this point, but it is disturbing. ON top of that school shootings happen a lot in the US here so watching this was both terrible and exciting in the worst ways.
Bad: I thought the ending was a odd ending. It didn't build up it just happened and everyone is dying. It felt like it should have been the start of volume 27 not the end of 26.
Overall this was a really exciting volume, even with the slowdown. I hope this series finishes strong because it's becoming a bit repetitive. However, this was a great volume. A 4 out of 5.

This was pretty cool. A nice goodbye for Jean and Scott.
So Jean comes back to life. Nothing new here. But this time we really focus on the Phoenix force. It's unstable life, it's memories, it's odd sense of needing to be a part of something. It's actually pretty interesting and we get to see a lot of character vulnerable in situations we normally don't get. I especially liked Scott and Emma's issues here, but also watching the X-Men work together like Beast and kitty and Logan is all great. They all have to come together to stop the Dark Phoenix from killing 5 million people again. On top of that a return of another mutant might stop them.
Good: I really enjoyed a lot of the interactions here. They felt like family, friends, a lot of bitterness, and a lot of heart. The mistakes of the past made them all question things in a interesting way. I also liked the fights, for they made the powers of most people come into full effect and have some great moments. I know a lot of people hate the art but I enjoyed it, and thought it looked pretty solid.
Bad: I thought the Shira or whatever they're called were lame. Also, bringing back the Omega Mutant was cool but he felt like just a subplot to draw out the final fight a lot longer. As if he was a afterthought.
Overall, I really liked the dialog and pacing here. I also thought the art was good. The story had a few issues but overall a interesting and fun title you can read as a standalone. A 3.5 out of 5.

All my friends on here seemed to love this, I thought it was just decent fun but nothing special.
Tony and Banner make a bet. They split in to two teams, which really is just Hulk and Spider-woman and Tony with Thor. This is basically a fun little trip that turns a lot darker when they discover a hidden secret. The next story is a two part story about Hawkeye and Black Widow. When Black Widow is drawn back into a mission for someone who she'd given a favor chip to long ago, both Clint and Jessica decide to follow her there.
Good: I enjoyed the banter here. Very movie-like MCU universe feel. I also liked most of the fights, they were big and bombastic. Overall easy to read, good plotting and pacing.
Bad: The art is okay but feels kind of stockish. I also thought the stakes were super low. I get this is more a "FUN" title but it felt so low I was kinda of bored when they threw any real "oh no" moments at us.
Overall this is a fun title. If like the MCU you'll probably love this. I do love the MCU but this just didn't blow me away. Still a fun title to check out if bored. A 3 out of 5.
