Judd Winick continues his extremely fun Catwoman run in this volume.
Catwoman is now teaming up with a new guy named Spark (Yes...My comic is called Sparks...with a S...that happens to also feature a electric power superhero) But anyway these two team up to steal stuff because that's what they do. However, when someone starts kidnapping prostitutes off the streets, mostly kids, it becomes a issue for the jewel thief. So it begins down a dark path, betrayal from all sides, and the final twist at the end to end the volume in a nice rush.
Good: The art is great, really flows well. The team up with Spark is fun and brings up some interesting moments and fights. Diving into Catwoman's life more and more makes for a interesting take on the character. The ending is great.
Bad: The main villain isn't as interesting this time around. Talon coming in the middle of this volume is weird.
Overall alot of fun. Though it had one really odd issue out of nowhere and a weak villain it remained solid. A 3.5 out of 5.

This is the first Tokyo Ghoul volume I didn't like all that much.
So things have changed. Out Ken is not who he once was. Now joining up with the doves he has his own team of people wiping out Ghouls. However, deep inside his brain he still has the demon we all know and love. ON top of that we're introduced to almost all new characters, a new squad sent out to take out ghouls while being part ghoul. Interesting idea but...
Good: I like the stuff with Ken actually. As weird as it is, it leads up to some interesting moments. Also, the fights are as good as ever. Clear and brutal like I like it.
Bad: The new squad is not interesting at all. Also, heavy heavy amount of unneeded and unfunny humor. I also thought the plot and pacing were pretty slow and uninteresting.
Overall this is a weak first volume to the 2nd series for Tokyo Ghoul. I'm hoping the next few volumes pick up. A 2.5 out of 5.

Buffy gets better and better. I never really bothered reading the comics but now that it's coming to a end (Believe season 12 is the last series there will be) I'm excited to finally catch up! Especially since my wife is almost done watching the entire show and I'm catching episodes here and there and remembering why I enjoyed it.
So yeah, here we go, this volume really focuses on Faith. I'm that one odd buffy fan who isn't all in love with her. I find her kind of annoying to be honest. However, she works on a lot of levels here. This time written by Brian K. Vaughan we have a woman trying to find her place in the world while also doing the dirtier missions Giles needs done without involving Buffy. This leads to Faith going face to face with another Slayer, but this one is actually haunting down other ones and killing them to get ready to take out Buffy.
Good: I really enjoyed this from start to finish. The faith monologue really helps give new light on the character and make me feel for her. The fights are brutal and some really screwed up deaths. I also enjoyed the hell out of the Giles moments with Faith and them working together. The Final volume also is basically warning for what is to come but it's pretty exciting.
Bad: The art can be a little wonky at times. I'm not a HUGE fan of how the artist draws hair as it makes it hard to tell who is who sometimes.
Overall, buffy the vampire slayer season 8 improves with it's second volume. Hoping it continues to stay this good or get better. A 4 out of 5.

This was so over the top that I couldn't help but love it. I mean, you got to know what you're getting in to with Buffy.
SO what's this one about? Well first issue deals with the Slayer trying to sort her own shit out. Then we get into multiple storylines, one including Xander making serious moves with the girl he likes. You then have Dracula make his grand return and he is really pissed off that someone stole his power. You got Buffy sleeping with one of her Slayers and trying to figure herself out. Oh yeah, and you have big Godzilla sized Dawn coming to the fight at the end. Yes. There's also a Mecha Godzilla Dawn...yes...yeah...hey, it's Buffy!
Good: Loved the heck out of all the storylines. Dracula and Xander together is so over the top silly it works. Buffy dealing with her one night stand with a girl was lolz worthy. Dawn getting the spotlight was pretty great. Lots of surprising deaths in this one too.
Bad: The art still is lacking for me.
Overall, this was a ton of fun. Plenty of laugh out loud moments, brutal showdowns, and wonderful character moments. A easy 4 out of 5.

For the longest time I wanted to read this series because of the things I heard about it. "This will make you a Batwoman fan" and yeah...they were right.
So Kate Kane is Batwoman. You didn't know that? Got confused about Batgirl and Batwoman? Don't worry, this book will fix that. So this Batwoman is dealing with hunting down someone, or something, who is taking children and kidnapping them. ON top of that she is also training a girl to be a warrior, a fighter, and of course things get a bit confusing there. Then we also have the cops/detectives hunting down Batwoman while Batman tries to recruit his cousin to his Batman INC.
Good: The dialog is pretty great. Everyone feels human, with major flaws, that make them super interesting. The art is beautiful as well as the fights themselves. The main villain is a sad one, and not the typical shit you expect. The ending is both intriguing and interesting lead to the next part.
Bad: I'd say sometimes the panel layout is a bit confusing. I also have issues with Kate's skin tone. It makes her look like a zombie, it was distracting.
Overall great first introduction to Batwoman. Makes me want to read a lot more. A 4 out of 5.

Sins of the Father
Ken Lashley, Scott Hanna, Andrew Hennessy, Mike Carey, Philippe Briones, Scot Eaton, Frank D'Armata
Wow what a bad collection. I mean, why add two stories that really have nothing to do with the main story OR not even written by Carey? Odd...
Overall this is a messy collection. The first two issues are continuation of Mr. Sinister and it's not...very good. Then got a storyline about Scott and Xavier in a one on one, till a certain Ms. Frost comes into the equation. Then the last two stories are one shots, both very old, and both have nothing to do with...anything.
Good: The two part storyline with Xavier and Scott is great. It also shows the consequences of using someone for your agenda and Ms. Frost is great.
Bad: The two last issues, the one shots, are both bland and boring. Nothing to do with the main story and not very interesting. I also thought the Mr. Sinister storyline is pretty wacky, over the top, and confusing.
Overall the middle is great but the rest? Pretty horrible. A 2 out of 5.

Yes, I am on a Buffy kick here. I just finished showing season 7 of Buffy to the wife and now I can't get enough Buffy in my life haha.
So Fray is about a future Slayer. This is many years in the future after mankind has gone through really tough times. Now broken society barely able to survive we have our main character Fray going around helping people. However, when a friendly demon comes to speak to her about her faith and what her path to being a Slayer is, she begins to have to deal with a lot of her past.
Good: I actually liked Fray a lot. I thought the 2nd half of the story picked up well, always entertaining, some good one liners, and some fucked up deaths. I especially enjoyed the ending.
Bad: Some of the art at the start is pretty bad. I also thought the pacing for the first half is a little too slow to get into it much.
Overall was a pretty solid fun story. It didn't blow my mind but I heard it does boost future Buffy stories so this works. A 3 out of 5.

This was just okay. Just 5 different stories all concluding to Batman's big wedding. While the Nightwing one and Damien one were pretty solid the other 3 just kind of fell flat. None of them really added much and could be skipped but nothing terrible. A 2.5 out of 5.
This was pretty boring. It's basically Bart grown up and having to taking over the Flash Mantel. However, he's not sure about it. If he uses the speed force it unleashes a hellish amount of power so he's a bit scared. This volume basically has one of Bart's friend's becoming a villain and then Bart finally taking the responsibility of The Flash and becoming the man himself.
Overall this is kind of a boring book with nothing really new. I will say I did enjoy the 2nd artist who came on. So for that alone some of the scenes are pretty cool. The fighting is not horrible but just meh. Overall, very very skippable. 2 out of 5.

Flash: The Fastest Man Alive: Full Throttle
Paul DeMeo, Mark Waid, Danny Bilson, Marc Guggenheim
And there it is. The end of Bart's run. Some interesting ideas all thrown to the side because of editorial issues. They wanted Wally back (Which is funny since guess who comes back soon after? Yep! Barry!) And this is the final days of Bart. So by the end we get the rogues coming in and going a bit too wild for my taste and...well spoilers...I guess? Maybe. This is 10+ years old. Bart is murdered and tus Wally returns.
Overall this whole Bart storyline isn't terrible, so I won't give it a 1 out of 5, but 2 out of 5 is the highest you can go. The writing is average, the art is solid enough but not amazing, and the plotlines go nowhere.
