I really got to get to reading more of Judd Winick stuff because everything I've read from him so far I've liked. Green Arrow is no exception.

Sadly I read this before volume 4 (I gotta hunt that one down), so some of the events are missing. It seems not too long ago Ollie was attacked by someone and Mia and Conner almost suffered a horrible fate. He's not on edge, freaking out all the time, while also trying to basically be a father to Conner AND Mia. I love Pops Oliver, and then you find out he did something awful again. Without spoiling myself he might have cheated. Oh, and if you think that is bad, the whole city becomes stuck in a vortex where NO violence is permitted otherwise you die. SO yeah...Green Arrow has a few things to deal with at once.

Good: The internal struggle with Oliver is great. Love seeing him try to juggle so many things, while also being hard on himself for slipping up. Watching him with Mia and Conner is wonderful. I also enjoyed the art work, very cartoonish but it works real well here. The first chapter where Roy and Conner go out to have a boy's night is also filled with lolz. Oh, and the ending, damn...

Bad: The demon's coming in and taking over the city was a little meh. Kind of felt unneeded and we could have got more realistic story for our character.

Overall this was great. Judd Winick obviously know's Oliver and gives the man plenty to deal with. The fights are great, the family feel is perfect, and the ending has me hyped for more. Green Arrow in this era just rocked. A 4 out of 5.

Tokyo Ghoul picks up right where it left off. Ken is going batshit insane and begins attacking anyone who is in his way. On top of that we have the doves fighting off the rest of the ghouls. It's just one big fucking fight for the first half but goddamn is it epic. Then the second half slow things down A LOT. Giving us some breathing room for our heroes to kind of think their actions and where they will be going from here.

Good: The fights are brutal and great. The line between good and bad keeps getting muddled and it's so freaking hard to keep up who is good and bad. I also thought the calm before the next storm was nice and it's always good to see our heroes take a break. Also, the new agent got a boooooty!

Bad: The slower pace ending and the questioning got a little too slow at times and kind of boring.

Overall another great volume. Tokyo Ghoul continues to blur the line between good and evil. I really do love the cast, and every time a fight occurs it's getting better and better.

Mighty Avengers is back and this time we got the crew of mostly unknowns getting time to shine. The biggest names here are Luke Cage and Falcon. Oh, and I guess Iron Fist. This time we have the White Tiger FLIP the hell out on them and attack the whole crew because she wants revenge for her families killer. Then we get a more Cosmic storyline with a father/son issues that honestly started off interesting but stretched too long. Oh, and we find out who ronin is.

Good: Enjoyed most of the fights as they are highly entertaining. The dialog is pretty well done, everyone has their own voice, and the mighty avengers do feel like a street level Avengers which is what they're going for.

Bad: The storylines really feel oddly paced and feel like the end up with little results. Especially the 2nd half here.

Overall it's a fun little book that I'll probably suggest to avengers or defenders fans but it's not mindblowing or anything. A easy 3 out of 5.

I'm starting to think Gail Simone will make any series I read atleast interesting. Lucky for me, Birds of Prey is GREAT.

So we have Oracle lead a team of badass woman who kick some ass. Honestly though, deeper down, it's about a sisterhood all trying to respect and work with each other by taking on very dangerous missions. This one is kind of great as we have a main enemy, not only for Black Canary, but also for Oracle herself in terms of computer smarts. Savant is our main baddie here and he's kind of cunning, really evil, and creepy as shit. Add that with some intense fights, fun banter, and great dialog and you have a heck of a story.

Good: Loved the way all the girls got together, but all vastly different, that make each of them unique. I also enjoyed Savant as a villain and he's weird and creepy in all the right ways. The story and pacing were great, never boring, and always entertaining.

Bad: The art. I mean it's good but holy hell do I feel like half the shots of the girls are up their ass, vagina, or on their boobs. Just sooooo many. It was distracting. (I love me some Black Canary tho)

Overall it was a ton of fun. I can see why this series is held in such high regards. Hope it continues to be a delight. A 4 out of 5.

Another knockout from the best team in comics.

So this one starts off a tad confusing. In current day a guy finds the scripts of his grandfather (or father maybe, I forget) and it's a story of a woman who has the power to manipulate people by telling them what to do while also being in a relationship with another cop, when at the same time the guy who she's controlling is married and then these crooked mobsters come after his wife and then the rest of them. Sounds confusing? It is a bit but very very entertaining.

Good: The dialog is on point, but I expect nothing less from Ed Brubaker. Art is grade A, we know Sean always knocks it out of the park. The storyline, while confusing, is still really interesting. The ending leaves us open to so many "what's next" moments.

Bad: I thought the story and characters all jumbled together could get confusing. It's something hard to keep track of it all.

Overall it's great. While not as straight forward as Criminal or Fade Out, it's just as well told. I can't wait to read more. A 4 out of 5.

Justice League loses some of its steam as Priest finishes up his very very short run here.

Introducing, BLACK PA--I mean RED LION! With this new guy coming into play. This picks up where the last volume left off. Cyborg is now leader of the Justice League. batman is hunting down "The Fan" who is causing all these issues. This book becomes extremely political when Refuges begin to get hunted by the military of that country. Then it's up to our heroes to decide what to do, and in comes Deathstroke to fuck shit up!

Good: I liked the dialog and the banter and the back and forth between everyone. I enjoy the art, clean and nice. I feel this justice league feels more like a team too.

Bad: The story is jumbled, wordy, and red lion is kind of lame.

Overall fun but nothing amazing. Kind of goes out in a whimper compared to a really fresh start in volume 6. Owell, on to NO JUSTICE!

The Spider-women are in town. Move over Spider-man, the girls gonna get some spotlight here.

So Jess, Gwen, and Cindy all are having lunch one day. You know, a girl's day out from all the drama. We know that shit won't go right though. Come on now...So in comes trouble, someone wants Gwen's reality warper device, and so the girls all have to work together to take care of the evil that is hunting them. However, what if the evil doer is someone the girls know very well?

Good: I really actually enjoyed a lot of the dialog. Very fun and easy breezey. All the writers seem to love these characters and get them. The banter works really well. I also thought the pacing was good and nothing slow or sluggish to get through.

Bad: Some of this art...just awful. Especially the very first issue, just not good at ALL. I also thought the main evil doer wasn't all that interesting or well done.

Overall a fun little mini-event. All the girls together actually work better than some of the solo series (Gwen/Silk) but overall fun. A nice little 3 out of 5 for this one. Worth checking out for fans of these characters.

I love Mark Waid but his Avengers series might be the worst thing he's done that I've read. It just comes off as really boring. This mashup between Champions and Avengers does neither series much good. Great art at times but the rest? A skippable boring storyline. A 2 out of 5.

I'll be the first to admit the Fantastic Four has NEVER been a series I much enjoyed. I still haven't found a great book yet but the first volume was good enough that I figured I'd try the 2nd volume in Hickman's long running series.

So of course the storyline becomes bigger in scope as we go to new places. The story starts with moleman visiting our fantastic family and wanting them to come underground with him. Then we go to a new Atlantis, or so they claim. And Johnny does some dumb shit as always and almost starts a war of sorts. This all happens in 5 issues.

Good: I like the banter with the family. Very realistic and fun. I also think the art is great, especially since one underwater scene is done super well. Oh and the ending sets up some really cool ideas.

Bad: It's kind of oddly confusing at points, too big for it's own good, a lot of setting up pieces, and not the big payoff. So, like Avengers run, a lot of build up.

Overall, I know Hickman is long game. So while this volume didn't blow me away it was enjoyable enough to want to keep going. A 3 out of 5.

WAR THOR TO THE RESCUE!!! Okay, seriously though, what a boost for this series after the last volume (which was meh).

We get a new Thor. I know, I know, don't worry though this time it's a guy. Don't freak out. And with that being said we have a new Thor called War Thor, who basically goes around creating war for anyone who stands in his way. Once we get the background of him, and understand why he does what he does, it becomes one big ass brawl between War Thor and hell and then eventually Jane comes in to face off against the War Thor as well.

Good: The art. The art is so, so, so fucking good. Sometimes I stop and just look at the pages to soak up all the art goodness. The fights are epic, the brawls are great, the bitter moments with Jane coming to terms with her own death, and more is all well done. I especially love the ending and knowing it's coming to a close for her, the build up is worth it.

Bad: The volume is far to short, and throwing in the Generation issue is blah. I already read that shit and it's just okay at best.

Overall, fun and exciting. Just what the series needed after a otherwise dull volume 3. BRING ME MORE THOR!!!!
