I knew this volume would be something special when a man punches a horse in mid-move and knocks it the fuck out.
So this volume is just a ton of backstabbing and betraying, but in the best way possible. On top of that we have a rematch we've been waiting for. Thorkell is hot on the trails of the band and he wants some blood. Thorfinn would gladly face off again and this time the match goes for a lot longer. Tons of "oh shit moments" and a lot of great fights. Deaths all around and this series starts to really pick up drive by the end.
Good: The art is damn amazing. The fights, small or big, have such power behind them you can't help but love it. The dialog ranges from sad to laughing out loud without losing itself to anime cliches. I also thought the ending sets up a whole new chapter in most of these character's life. Very interesting direction.
Bad: Some of the stuff with the prince was really boring.
Overall this was epic as all hell. I thought volume 2 was really good but this is finally great. A 4.5 out of 5.

This whole volume like one big DBZ episode. You get a revive, you get a revive, YOU GET A REVIVE!
I actually thought it was cool to see so many of the people we liked come back. Some interesting turns too with the return of certain characters. By the end we also get a bit more with Kei and his girl. He makes a choice that changes everything, but how long will it last?
Good: I enjoyed a lot of the reunions here. Sad, happy, really well done. I also enjoyed a lot of bitter sweet moments and goodbyes. All well done.
Bad: I really hope a choice doesn't erase ALL the character development we got for a certain character.
Overall without big spoilers the series almost feels like a soft reboot at this point. Excited to see where it goes.

Well hot damn, shit is going down town...I mean down. Oh whatever, this shit is epic.
So this starts with alot of plotting. The king is NOT happy his son arrived home safe. He was hoping the boy would have tied. However, the boy now has Thorfinn, Thorkell, and Askeladd. Things begin to heat up and then the ending, the last few chapters, are balls to the walls action. Betrayal, schemes, a big old "Fuck you motherfuckers" moments. So much craziness and ends on a quiet note that also leaves the series going into a new direction.
Good: The art is glorious. The fights flow so smooth at times that I only HOPE the anime is going to look as good as this. The plot twist are fucked up, some game of thrones level shit going on. The ending leaves the series in a whole new direction that I can't see how it'll turn around. Oh and Askeladd got his moment to shine like a mofo.
Bad: Nothing really.
This is amazing epic that should be read by any fan of Manga/viking/badass shit. This is a easy 5 out of 5.

This was a high rush chapter.
At first a mysteriously new guy comes into the fold and explains to Kei that he was part of a Gantz group. Simple enough right? However, the vampire gang we've been learning more and more about comes into play and starts slaughtering the Gantz team. First going after the strongest members around. Kei is eventually a target and even without the Suit he fights them off. Will he survive? Is this the end? Well...
Good: The fights in this volume in particular were excellent. High speed, badass, bloody, and fucked up. Some shocking deaths here too. Also the ending leaves up a new status quo that I'm really excited to see where it's going to go.
Bad: The vampire gang seems like faceless drones most of the time.
Overall this is a lot of fun. I think I'm enjoying these chapters even more than the start chapters. A 4 out of 5.

So figured I'd go back to read all the stuff I missed in the days I couldn't afford comics ( I love you marvel unlimited) and now it's Ed Brubaker's run on Uncanny X-Men!
So the X-Men are going off to space. Sounds cool, right? We got Xavier, Nightcrawler, and basically a bunch of C-lister x-men characters. We also have Vulcan going after the Shi'ar empire and trying to destroy it. It's basically one big race to reach the empire to stop/prevent full on destruction, with a lot of drama inbtween. So basically X-Men in space!
Good: I liked some of the character's interactions. Mostly anything with James. While he's my least favorite character in X-Force, he's one of the best here. Also there's some great fight scenes, especially with Nightcrawler.
Bad: The art can be a bit too broody or dark for it's own good. I also thought the storyline was stretched to long and by part 9 I was starting to get bored. I also think far too many characters that people unfamiliar with X-men won't enjoy this.
SO overall it was not horrible, but not great. I'd probably go with a 2.5 overall.

I think my favorite part of this whole book is Hickman's final words. It made the most sense of it all haha.
So what's this about? Well a bunch of news or media people are getting shot in the head. Like Bam, boom, head gone or big motherfucking hole in the head. Why? Because a group of people are being controlled by "The Voice" and told to do these awful things. With a abstract look of it all, not common comic paneling, and a ton of philosophy questions, the comic begins a dark spiral trip down a dark way.
Good: Really enjoyed a lot of the dialog. The back and forth made me think, made me question things, made me scared of my own thoughts sometimes even. The twist and turns kept me intrigued and really loved the ending. I also thought the structure was well done and told a complete, one shot story.
Bad: The art isn't my favorite. Can't really tell who is who. Everything is blotchy and dark. The structure is hard to follow at first and takes awhile to get used to. The questions are tough and maybe a bit too wordy for some.
Overall this was pretty interesting comic. I don't know if I'd suggest it to a new comic reader but once you read a few, this is something to check out since it's SO different. I'd go with a 3.5 out of 5.

This was a average x-men adventure. Save some mutants, fight other mutants, and everyone is happy. Not great, nor amazing, not horrible, just okay. Not much to really say about this one to be honest.
This was kind of fell short of the hype after the last one.
So Kei is out. He dead as fuck. But don't worry, we will bring him back. I hope. The Gantz gang is on a new mission, but this time outside of Tokyo, and this time they meet another group of Gantz people. This group is kind of fucking insane and they rape and murderer aliens because they think it's like a video game. When the aliens starting to chase the little muscle rider kid he must fight back. So begins to the match!
Good: The moments with the kid fighting is fucking epic. Also, there's a moment all the other gantz team gets murdered and it's pretty amazing.
Bad: The story is starting to feel like it's dragging of finding something new to do but unsure but to actually to do. The new gantz team are over the top and disturbing and just weird. Death is becoming so common it's losing it's "oh no" moments.
Overall this is probably one of the most boring parts of the entire series for me. A 2.5 out of 5 for me.

So odd coming from Max to this. It's like all the grit and blood and "fucks" are gone...Well I mean they are but yeah...okay anyway...
So first issue starts off with a bang. No really. Frank tries to snipe Osborn as he becomes president of the united states. Sentry stops it and then chases Frank down. This leads to some epic shit which eventually leads to Osborn hiring The Hood (people really loved this guy around this time) to hunt down the Punisher. This is basically a cat and mouse game throughout.
Good: Enjoyed a lot of the first and 2nd issue. It's high speed chase that feels scary as fuck. Imagine a superman like figure chasing your ass down. Also enjoyed Frank's internal dialog and him actually being scared.
Bad: The Hood stuff feels a little safe. Like you know this dude isn't going to kill Frank. I also thought the side kick character feels a little lame. The revive bad guys to haunt you too has been there done that feel.
Overall it's decent fun to be had. The first issue in particular is great. I can't help but feel it's missing something though. A 3 out of 5.

Runaways is finally back!
So I'll be honest. After the first arc of Runaways, nothing ever reached the same heights. I kind of accepted that. However, when Rainbow Rowell came on the scene she said she really loved the original and wanted her series to fit in no problem. Did she succeed? Well you can see my ratings.
So the runaways have gone their own ways. Two years later since the tragic events the team is begining to come back together. This mostly because Chase makes a insane choice to go back in time and save Gerts. Once she's back everyone begins to slowly come back together. However, some people are happy where they are. So the drama begins, and of course, not all is what it seems.
Good: Loved the hell out of the art. It's vibrant and really captures the spirit of the runaways. The story and pacing is well done and I really dug the characters. The dialog is playful and works the way it needed to feel like runaways. This is a family comic, which I love.
Bad: Some of the build up took awhile to get used to, and of course a different feel to the characters at first.
This is great reintroduction to our favorite characters. Wasn't blown away like the first time I read runaways but I was smiling everything I read another page in this. That's a easy 4 out of 5 for this one then.
