A entertaining sequel but not needed.

For my review of Glitterbomb Volume 1 I said I loved everything but felt the ending was rushed. Saying that, this volume tries to give a bigger ending. We now have Kaydon, the babysitter from Volume 1, tossed into fame due to her friend dying. So now that she's growing, that same demon that was in volume 1, decides to follow her around and become one with her too so she can kill again. Will she win like the last volume?

Good: I still enjoy the art, simple, but nicely detailed. I also thought Kaydon was a interesting character and liked the twist at the end. I also liked a deeper look into the fame system and how truly fucked up it is.

Bad: The ending again felt rushed and also too nicely tied up. Both volume 1-2 could use a extra issue in each. I also thought the way they tied up Kaydon and the child stuff was weak and could have easily been a issue on its own.

Overall good, fun, entertaining, but felt kind of like tagged on. It wasn't needed and the series could have been a one shot. Saying that, it was still fun, but I can't help but want more.

As I read the third volume of Old Man Logan two things came to me. This series keeps missing the mark of being great, only ever being "Good". And that they are extremely quick reads and this is why I love Marvel Unlimited.

So what's happening with our old man logan? Well he's going to Japan of course. Needs to find lady deathstrike. Doing so he gets caught in a trap. Then we jump back and forth between current time in the main universe and his world back in the days before his wife/kids were brutally killed my redneck hulks. Oh, you didn't know that happened? Go read old man logan. Anyway, this group of Japanese silent warriors do not like Logan? Why....well you'll have to read to find out.

Good: Art is still interesting, some really great fight scenes with it. I also enjoyed the flashbacks. By far the best part of the story. Anytime Logan has something to fight for it's more interesting. I also thought the idea of Logan growing as a bitter old man to a character who cares again is good.

Bad: Seriously, how silly was the idea of changing a telekinesis warlord turn good? I mean it felt so forced. It's amazing how Lemire makes such real characters in his own work but here? It feels very corporate pushing. Also, as much as I like the art, sometimes I can't tell what the fuck is happening.

Overall, again, this series is entertaining and enjoyable enough to keep going. I can't help it's still missing all the beats to make it amazing but it's fun enough. A 3 out of 5.

Whoa surprised so many people enjoyed this.

So this, like all other Earth One titles, is a retelling of the origins of our favorite heroes but with a twist usually. Superman was more modern time, Batman was having a rough time as the bats, and Wonder Woman...well I didn't read that one. This one has Hal being a Space Pilot, finds the finger, and...well...he goes against the army of machines known as the Manhunters.

Good: The art was pretty good and the idea of Hal starting off in space made more sense then him being a pilot and finding the ring in the originals.

Bad: The whole story is kind of bland. The dialog is stiff, the fights aren't interesting, the manhunters are a boring enemy, and a lot of changes to characters, including hal, aren't interesting. IN fact they make some of the characters duller than their normal counterpart. Opposite of what you want in a retelling.

Overall this was really meh. Save for the art and a decent origin idea the rest was dull. I can't go higher than a 2.

Tokyo Ghoul now enters probably my favorite stuff from the anime.

So what's happening? Oh yeah that psycho Tsukiyama still wants to eat Kankei but before he does that he goes after Nishiki's girlfriend and all hell breaks loose. But who comes to enter the fight? Touka, my main girl, and man is she not playing. The big brawl occurs and shit goes down. The second half of the volume goes into Rize backstory. I don't recall this from the anime so that was nice. We also have the "new" special investigator coming into the scene, and he's a bit of a fucking psycho himself. Oh great.

Good: The fight in this one is intense and really gets to show off how badass Touka is. Also the gripping storylines all come to a close for Tsukiyama and really step into some awesome moments. I loved the RIze backstory as it gave bigger views onto why she was and who she was in the end.

Bad: The new special investigator is kind of just okay. I never loved him in the anime and so far he proves to be just kind of "insane" to be insane.

Overall this volume was great. Besides a bump at the end I really loved 90% of this book. This is the best volume of the series yet. A 4 out of 5.

Heartbreaking. That's the word I'd easily use for this one.

So this is it. We're getting near the end. Who is who? WHO IS PLUTO? Our favorite detective is so close now. When he begins asking the right people the tough questions we get answers we can't believe or want to accept. However, that's not all that's happening. We get the past of our detective and learn some twisted and fucked up things.

Good: I can't stress how great the art is. Gives some amazing emotions throughout. The touching moments are near unbeatable and they don't focus on them, but when they hit, it hurts. The ending...man oh fucking man. Yeah this shit is amazing.

Bad: Nothing.

Pluto is going to go down as one of my favorite Manga's of all time at this rate. I can't wait to go back to 20th century boys and Monster next. A 5 out of 5.

Grass Kings is a "different" story but a pretty interesting one.

For years and years the Grass Kingdom was under a small community who wanted to be away from all other people. In doing so they began forming a family of sorts around this place. However, as the story progresses, you see the cracks in the foundation of the family and others who live inside there. And then when outsiders come in, it only gets worse.

Good: The art is solid. I really liked the design for a lot of it. I also thought the start was intriguing and interesting throughout. The loss of a character is well done, sad, and crafted well to give you all the emotions you need.

Bad: The ending wasn't nearly as captivating as the start. The "showdown" was just okay. Not very interesting or any twist I didn't see coming.

Overall, for it's different style, and story, I enjoyed it. It has issues but a good start. I'll check out volume 2. A 3 out of 5.

Locke and Key remains one of the more interesting horror series I've read.

This one mostly revolves around around personal demons. Mom isn't doing good. She's drinking a shit-ton and doing inappropriate things to say the least. Then we focus on Kinsey and her issues with her school and friends. Last but not least Zach strikes and the kids are left to defend themselves. What key will be the end result in this battle?

Good: The pacing picks up big time in the 2nd half, finally moving towards a big event. The broken family drama increases and keeps getting better in a terrible way. I also enjoy seeing them still stick together as a family despite it.

Bad: The start was a little slow, as always. He gets that from his pops.

Overall another great volume. I have a feeling this series will go down as one of my favorites for the horror genre. A 4 out of 5.

The 1000 issue! HOLY SMOKES SUPERMAN THAT'S CRAZY!

So what is this? Well it's a bunch of little short stories to talk about the Man of Steel himself. We have multiple writers from Jurgen, to Peter, to Tom King, and more. And so all the stories are all focused on what Clark Kent means to people. Best part about it all is it's different takes on the character but all feeling similar in tone and love for him.

Good: Loved some of them. Highlights include Tom Kings story, Johns, I really liked Brad Meltzer too. They all captured the character well and a nice goodbye and hello to the hero for new readers and older readers alike. The art also varied from REALLY good to okay.

Bad: Some of the stories weren't all that interesting. I also was sadden by peter's goodbye issue as it felt kind of weak in comparison to what he usually writes for the character.

Overall a fun solid 1000 issue. It had problems but for the most part I was smiling through most of it. It's easy to recommend and well done enough just not "amazing" and that's okay for me. A 3 out of 5.

Well damn, this was a nice surprise.

Parker is a dude who is a petty criminal. He has a code though. You learn that early on when he beats the living shit out of a Hydra Agent with his cousin John. You also see tender moments where he cares about his cousin, his pregnant wife, and also his sick mother. On the flipside he is cheating on his wife with a whore, stealing things, and overall a two faced asshole. This makes it even better when he gets his hands on a pair of boots and hood and becomes THE HOOD.

Good: I really dug the storyline. It's simple. Just the start of a criminal's life into super villain world. However, the way it all works out, the slow build, and the human interactions thanks to Brain K. Vaughan great writing, it all adds up to something really well done. Also the power set is cool, the art works well here, and the side character's like John are well done.

Bad: Some of the story plotlines feel unsolved or not done. This all comes down to it being a 6-part mini. You want more too but this is where it ends, and kind of sad.

Overall really enjoyed this. If I didn't feel it was a bit rushed or wanting more it be amazing but as it stands it's a great mini-series worth checking out. A 4 out of 5.
