This is book 3 of the Baker Street Mystery series by Valerie Burns. I recommend reading the first two as the stories are connected and things will make more sense. Don’t worry because they are quick reads.

Now, if you’ve read the first two books, settle in while Maddy and Baby, the large English Mastiff, solve some crimes! I’ve really enjoyed the character development throughout the series, and this installment continues to impress. Maddy has come a long way and even has a new boyfriend, the town veterinarian.

I am so happy we got to meet Maddy’s dad, The Admiral. I didn’t think I’d like him, but I definitely did. It seemed to be a good trip for him and her—they needed to say some things to each other.

Please snuggle up and read this fun cozy mystery ASAP!

Recommend (Yes/No/Maybe): YES!!! I love Maddy, the main FMC and her large English Mastiff, Baby. I really hope there are more in the series.

Writing this review is challenging because I realize that this book simply wasn't for me, and it's okay for it not to be a 5-star read. I wanted to love it because I enjoy the idea of a heist combined with romance, but it didn't quite hit the mark. The story started out promisingly with Magnus reentering Celeste's life, but the plot lacked strength. However, the chemistry and spice between the main characters were definitely highlights.

Recommend (Yes/No/Maybe): Maybe. I think it could be good for someone but it wasn’t for me.

Summary (no spoilers):
Five years after their last disastrous job together, professional thief Celeste St. Pierre and her former partner, Magnus Larsson, reunite over a locked safe, reigniting their old flame. Celeste now runs an antique store in Manhattan but hasn't lost her knack for stealing beautiful things, nor has the intense chemistry between her and Magnus faded. Despite past grudges, they must work together to honor their mentor's dying wish and pull off the theft of the century, embarking on a high-stakes treasure hunt across Europe. As they rediscover their synergy and the sexual tension mounts, one mistake could cost them not just the jewels but also a potential future together.

When SZA sang about looking for a big boy on SNL, she must have been talking about Jake. Big man in the best way! He said, “I fill a door frame easy. I can easily make you feel small.” With that, Jake is now added to my book-boyfriend list. Did I mention he can sing and writes songs about Vi, the FMC?? 🫠 🥵

This book gave me all the feels. It's not often that I shed tears while reading, but this story had me reaching for the Kleenex. At times, I just wanted to give Jake a hug. He has been through a lot and is working through it all with a therapist, applying the techniques to his life.
Overall, this book is a heartwarming and emotional journey that left a lasting impression on me. Five stars!

Honorable mention for Tio Raul and Tia Sonia! Their love and speeches had me wiping my eyes (again)!

Recommend (Yes/No/Maybe): YES!!! This is the third book in the series and I am going back to read books 1 and 2!

5⭐️ read!

I loved this book!!! The looming hurricane wasn't the only thing brewing at The Precipice Hotel or in the small town on Maine’s coast. Three sisters come together, thinking they will claim their inheritance after their father's passing. Once the secrets started coming out, they did not stop! The character development was strong, and the hits kept coming right until the end. Note: there are a lot of characters, so you do have to pay attention, or you could miss a twist.

Recommend (Yes/No/Maybe): YES!!! The twists kept coming and literally had me gasping. You will enjoy this if you like to read about family drama and mysteries.
