Quick and easy listen; The twist wasn't that shocking but this would be a good book for someone who has never read a thriller.
King of Ashes did not disappoint—it’s a solid five-star read! S. A. Cosby’s storytelling is exceptional, blending gritty crime with deep family drama. Roman Carruthers returns home to find his family in turmoil, debts piling up, and dangerous criminals closing in. As secrets unravel and tensions rise, Roman must make unimaginable choices to save those he loves.
The characters are complex, especially Roman and Neveah, whose journey to uncover buried truths adds a haunting layer to the story. The narration by Adam Lazarre-White is top-notch, pulling you straight into the action with his powerful voice.
This book is gripping from start to finish, and I’m already craving more from Cosby. Huge thanks to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the ALC. All opinions are my own.
Graphic: Murder
This was such a cutesy YA romance that still managed to pack a punch emotionally. Deja and Raja’s meet-cute had me grinning from ear to ear—it was the kind of moment that makes your heart flutter in the best way.
What really set this apart for me was how Ebony LaDelle wove in family pressures and cultural expectations without losing the joy and magic of first love. Deja’s flashbacks with her grandmother were especially tender and emotional, and Raja’s struggle with balancing his artistic dreams and his immigrant parents’ hopes added real depth.
Interracial and intercultural relationship dynamics were explored with care, and the story never felt preachy—just honest and real. This book balances butterflies and big themes so beautifully. Definitely one I’d recommend to readers who like their romance sweet and substantial.
Thank you Simon and Schuster Children's Publishing for the ARC. Thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book was everything I needed in a summer romcom—funny, flirty, and surprisingly heartfelt. Meghan Quinn nailed it again with the perfect mix of banter, spice, and emotional growth.
Listening to this one is the way to go! The narrators crushed it—they brought Scottie and Wilder’s chaotic chemistry to life in the best way. Speaking of Wilder…that man is a laid-back, pierced, improv-loving billionaire dreamboat. 😍 And the build-up? Worth every slow-burn second. Whew.
I loved how therapy was woven in—not just for laughs, but for genuine character development. The conversation between Mika and Wilder? Chef’s kiss. More healthy brotherly vulnerability in romance, please! Also, Mika needs his own book, please.
Scottie had her moments, but her growth made me root for her by the end. The fake marriage, one-bed, summer camp shenanigans had me giggling and grinning the whole time. And shoutout to Sanders—what a delightful bonus!
If you want your romcom with laughs, heat, and a little emotional healing on the side, this one’s a must-read (or better yet, must-listen).
