This book is definitely a must-read. I feel it is under- recognized because it is so popular. This story is so well known that people don't bother reading it, but this is a mistake. I did struggle with the wording of some parts, so this means that this isn't a play for younger audiences. This doesn't mean it isn't a good story!
The shining has everything a great novel could need: interesting plot, action, tension, thrilling character development, ect, etc.. I purchased the audio version on audible and it was a long and dusty road (15 hours total) which was undoubtably a great use of my time. I delved right into the world of the overlook and wanted to speed through right on till the end just to find out what happens. It pulled at my heart strings, it filled me with anticipation and sheer terror.
I has great difficulty reading this within the first 100 pages or so, just because I couldn't get stuck in the plot. However about 200/250 pages in I was glued, personally I would've preferred it if it were like that all the way through but hey ho.
It links well with the previous two books, especially with the Enemy which I found very intruding. Overall an okay book with a mediocre beginning and a semi good ending.
Worth a read if you're a big Charlie Higson fan

I am subscribed to this site called 'Book Bub' where they give you free or discounted Ebooks on various websites. This was available on kobo, and having kobo I gave it a shot. I am ever so glad I did because what unfolded from then was brilliant.
This is about a 24 year old Rose, whose mother was a controlling religious fanatic who thought Rose had a demon within her. When in reality she had visions of ordinary things like broken taps or a lost dog. But when one day she sees herself dead she is shook at her end, thus starting her independence from her mother.
This is what I entered the book with but oh my it spiralled out wonderfully. It didn't go where I was expecting it to go, but I'm glad it did. Yes some things may be far fetched towards the end, but it's a fiction book, aren't things meant to be fantastical and impossible?
I (somehow) managed to read this in one sitting because it gripped me from the very beginning.
10/10 would definitely recommend

Very very interesting indeed
Sadly I didn't finish ALL of it but I read the majority

I absolutely adored this third book! Personally I found the first one was rather slow placed and conjured a lot of questions which it didn't have answers to, however in the next two it kept my attention thoroughly. Sadly I can't continue this saga as I've only got the first 3 as a box set, but when I get the money I'm definitely going to be buying the next few.
I did find Harper's mindset involving Jackson a bit annoying as she kept contradicting herself, but the developments of certain characters (cough Brooke cough Drake) were amazing I want to find out what happens!!

I've gone through the reviews expecting to see some 3/5 and 4/5, however I am happily mistaken. It seems everyone loves this book as much as I do, it was fast paced, brilliant humour, a pug for Christ sakes!
The only reason why I didn't give this a 5/5 was because at the beginning it didn't hook me, don't get me wrong it's a great plot but about a quarter way through i didn't think "okay I need to read more" because it didnt hook me (at the time). But once the ball got rolling it had everything that's needed for a brilliant book

This is one of the books that you can't put down, because I couldn't. It's not like I HAD to finish it, because I didn't feel like I needed to know what happened. I finished it because I wanted to be back in the world, I felt no desire to I just missed them. If that makes sense? With TFIOS I had to finish it because I had to find out what happened, but with this book I wanted to carry on.
Despite its short length it got a lot into it, I personally liked the writing style as it gets you into his way of thinking which immersed me. The whole plot was just so intricate, I wished it was longer but then again it would ruin it if it carried on meaningless. Ill just have to watch the film.
