Not my favourite Grady Hendrix book, but my god did it do some amazing things. I really loved the main character and the use of music throughout the book. I just felt that the plot didn't hold together as well as it could have in places.

Cosy, queer post-apocalyptic fiction. I really loved both Jamie and Alexander's perspectives, their tentative friendship, and eventual romance that blossoms in the face of hardship and past trauma. A great read, but about a pandemic so, you know, keep that in mind when you pick it up.

A slight letdown, given how much I absolutely adored the first book in this duology. It felt like everything I really loved about the first book was gone and this was a standard YA fantasy plot. I still love the characters and the general plot.

This book totally blew my mind. Clever, addicting, and filled with unreilable narrators (my favourite), it's told in a sequence of interviews and mixed media. It kept me guessing until the very end.

A great survey of some of the major figures in history who would be identified as LGBTQ today. They're often villainous and not exactly nice people, so it sounds odd to say but it would have been great to have a more diverse set of figures (the book documents almost exclusively white men).
