I'm a little conflicted with this book. I really enjoy the concept - and it's absolutely concerning how close we are in America to this becoming a reality. But it was hard to follow the plot.

Not my favorite of the Kristin Hannah books. I'm not sure if it's because of the point I'm at in my life, my mood, or the weather - I just wasn't feeling this one like I normally do. Usually I'm in tears but nada.

Whoa.....just whoa.... The twists and turns! Main character was a smidge whiney but ya know what - still enjoyed it.

OMG I can't believe I've waited so long to read this!
So it starts off a bit like a Romeo and Juliet retelling (Roma Montagav and Juliette Cai are the main characters, with Marshall and Benedikt), but it is SO much better. Takes place in post-WW1 Shanghai, and there's a "disease" afoot, going after everyone. 10/10, do recommend.
Be warned - it is a part of a duology AND a greater series. And with this ending you will need to read book 2, which I shall be getting my hands on shortly.
