a diabolical amount of filler in this book
there are 4+ 40+ page chapters of "history" where the author says "for this we need to learn some background" No we do not. Never once has those history lessons been required to understand anything. you can skip them easily. I'll probably read the abridged version, its crazy how the original is 1.4k pages and my abridged is only 400~ pages lol

rats MIND CONTROLLED by an actively evil talking boss rat that has been actively killing cats for who knows how many years might be the craziest thing thats ever happened in this series ngl. 5 stars

Reign of the Fallen

Sarah Glenn Marsh

DID NOT FINISH: 73%

how two people who just recently lost their very close loved romantic partners and immediately want to fuck each other
mc just lost fiancé, SISTER of the fiancé just lost brother and her girlfriend and they already likin each other like ???
not to mention mc immediately fuckin another dude as soon as her almost husband dies lmao what

anyway the writing wasnt enjoyable

yeah not a fan of this one chat. i might be a little snowflake but something about the
she wants to kill herself because of brain cancer (actually i cant remember the fake reasons, just hold on a moment lol) and i go well that makes sense, oh nevermind shes lying and actually she has an  aneurysm somewhere alright that makes sens- oh she was lying again like? feels like the author messing with u on a sensitive subject of suicide. or maybe this makes no sense but .yk.

   while maybe Greta's
story never being finished was a thing of how sometimes you just never know what happened to your friend who became drug addict, but by god do i wish there was some closure cause she was the only good chara. i also didnt like how when she was raped by that guy, the main chara sigrid seems to not give a flying fuck until the end when the guy becomes mayor and shes like omg hes a terrible person like girl you didnt do hardly shit for Greta when she told you

Loveable characters: No

if i never hear the phrase so it goes ever again it'll still be too soon

i dont know how to rate this book so i wont
not a huge fan of the author using the phrase "love making" in reference to rape like 3 or 4 fucking times in the book, at first it may have been perhaps the rapists not seeing it as rape (they do, trust me. rapists know what they are doing) but then at the end with that story of a newlywed woman whose train was stopped, Singh described it "the mob made love to her". not putting the guy in a good light
ill leave with one last note <3 war is always hardest on women and children man. 9/10 times all men get is a leg blown off. women and even children get mass raped. i notice this passage in the litcharts: "The story of Sundari is another horrific account, as Muslims rape the newlywed and then cut off her husband’s penis—this literal unmanning being the basest and most humiliating of punishments. " like bro i dont give a fuck about that guy having no dick, she was RAPED MULTIPLE TIMES!!! actually this might be a hot take, but yeah i care more about women and children in war time than the men. even women soldiers arent safe. its sad/funny when men r like "who fights the wars" buddy who starts them
