I think it's probably a great thing that this book, author, and series still has a place in my heart. I first read this in 4th grade and it enjoy it to this day.
It was fairly good. I learned a few historical facts, the characters were okay, and the romance was pretty predicable.
The plot was a bit too clean cut, but I really enjoyed the character development of the female lead. The gangster was a bit much, but the female diver really makes everything fantastic.
I just really love Tamora Pierce and her universe is solidly constructed.
Pretty good introduction to new writers. I liked it a lot and want to now read other novels by those writers.
I read this on Christmas Even and Christmas Day, which was a bit of a downer. But absolutely fantastic.
I'm sure this would have been a good read for someone else, but I didn't find the characters very deep and just couldn't get into the style.
This was pretty funny and I appreciate the who chicken scheme. But I would have been happier if it followed one or a few characters' journeys. It was just a bit all over the place, which made things much less enjoyable.
I really wanted to like this book and female perspective of it. But really, the author's status of being female was the only thing the book had going for it. It just seemed too petty and didn't focus on enough on analysis. Your analysis can be 'I'm a woman talking about GW."
