Plot or Character Driven: Plot

I really liked this book. It was my first Stephen King novel and despite having the plot of a YA novel, it was written with lots of skill.

This book was hilarious and interesting and absolutely absurd. I loved it so much that I purchased it.

Alright. I didn't exactly enjoy reading this book, as the subject matter was extremely dark. However, it was incredibly well-written and handles the difficult subjects (rape, pedophilia, cultural and generational trauma, etc) with skill and respect. Which makes sense, because the author comes from the environment described in the book.

I know the plot is a little all-over-the-place in this particular book, but I really loved this re-read. It's one of my favorite books in the series. I remember that I re-read it plenty when I first read it as a kid.

Admittedly, as a child adopted from China, this book was annoying to me personally. It was well-written though and makes me wonder what will happen to the main character next. The characters were sympathetic and fascinatingly flawed. It was actually a decent read, even it if was a touch irritating.

Per usual, using Libby has enabled me to find and read books that I wouldn't typically gravitate towards. It was a fun, if not strange read. An interesting incorporation of Darwin and the problem Darwinism posed to society. This book wasn't fantastic though. I don't think it's really my thing and everything was a bit oddly connected. I wish the characters were a bit more interesting, beyond their odd physical shapes.

This was a nice re-read.

I started reading this absurd book and was like, wait, I think I missed something. Turns out I started reading the series without reading the first one. Regardless, I really enjoyed reading this book and it's definitely a favorite of mine. I know some of the humor in the book isn't particularly poltically correct and actually a bit insulting, but it's not overwhelming necessarily and doesn't feel malicious-more like outdated or in bad taste.

I loved this book before I read it, while I read it, and after I read it. So many of the passages were beautifully constructed and I just wanted to highlight everything. I didn't, however, enjoy the ending so much, but everything else was so enjoyable, I can mostly just discount that.
funny lighthearted fast-paced

I read the second book in this series before this one. Despite this, I really enjoyed reading the series in reverse (it definitely answered some very important questions). It was great, absurd, and comedic.
