I wanted to like it, and there were parts that I liked, but I'm just not that interested in food-bases narratives.

While the storyline itself was fairly common, the wonderful graphics, creative use of color, and other storytelling devices created a graphic novel that felt refreshing. The world building and char cterization were particularly well done.

It was just okay. I don't think I really enjoyed reading this overall, even if I enjoyed some parts quite a bit. I thought layout of the panels was pretty interesting and loved the color palette.

I've been getting into reading comics and grpahic novels recently and there have been art styles and stories and characters I've grown to love. However, this is the first graphic novel where I've loved absolutely everything. This is a touching, sensitive story that is paired with masterful storytelling and breathtaking artwork to create something wonderful and heart touching.

Gosh, I really wanted to love this book but found myself praying for it to finish. I don't know if it was the prose, the YA-esque protagonist girl (impoverished, against all odds, beautiful) who I just couldn't bring myself to find believable, or the nature writing/mystery/social commentary/realistic fiction genre straddle the book was trying to reach, but the book just didn't click with me. Maybe I just went in with too high of expectations. That's probably it.

For some reason, the art style didn't really click for me, although I did love the use of the color blue. It was also a romance, which I didn't know before starting. That said, it was a nice little story and I felt like the pacing was just perfect.

I love the fusion of supernatural and western in this comic. I'm new to reading comics, so I'm still adjusting to the medium, but this was one of the best so far. The setting, character design, and layout was wonderfully done. And, gosh, the use of bold colors and art style were mind blowing.

I mean, it just okay. I wasn't too big of a fan of the plot progression, but it was pretty typical of comics. I did think the fusion between European lore and Chinese lore was creative.

I didn't know much about the book when I started, so I was a little surprised at the format. But as I got used to it, I really started to enjoy it. I have no idea how the author made me so invested and in love with this fictional rock and roll band, but I'm so glad I did.

I just couldn't stay interested in this book. I can't tell if it's me or the book, but there was just nothing interesting going on inside. The characters were dull, the plot and horror sequences were bland, and even the exploration of racism seemed a bit poorly done. There was a lot of potential for this book to really be great. Unfortunately, it just wasn't.
