Thanks to Author for providing an arc in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Fawn is about a female fae girl called faunella, nicknamed Fawn going through puberty on earth & coming into her personal power. I read this 500 page book in a day - it’s an easy read.

Fawn our fmc  is a pure creature who resides in the forest - healing and befriending animals and a girl with chronic/ terminal illness Lucy. But honestly it was Derrick who stole the show. Derrick born into gang life. Derrick uses kiwisms & swears and is essentially the opposite to Fawns purity. Derricks life is filled with corruption and selfishness.

The writing is descriptive but fast paced. You jump three years into the future multiple times to capture Fawns entire road to adulthood. Book also contains some beautiful illustrations at the start of each chapter and disbursed through the novel.

Illness Representation:
A deeper dive  on the story- I think the side  character of Lucy could be further developed.   We’re never actually given the name of her illness. The illness  representation  varies from good to stereotypical.
Good representation of illness is the description of pain being constant. However the lack of Lucy’s specific illness makes accountability difficult among other aspects.

BIPOC Representation :
Lucy is also described as a person of colour & I would love to hear a BIPOC reviewer's perspective on this representation.

I can personally see a younger reader enjoying this far more. I can see that a younger audience 9-14 facing puberty may rate it 4 + stars and as I want to match the book with the correct reader I have rated it in that spirit rather than as my personal preference.
Fawn is released 5 December 2024 & will be available on Kindle Unlimited.

I came across this book on good reads choice awards open voting. It is an updated Nannies diaries memoir. The title give you alot of what is addressed myths around motherhood  , womanhood and wealth and how we are far from equal.

This book is not the stage musical. The book is far darker dealing with themes of infanticide, unethical non-monogamy & racism. Wicked is engaging and thought-provoking novel. Elphaba struggles to reconcile her desire for social and political change with the harsh realities of a world ruled by the Wizard’s oppressive and corrupt government & the people influencesd by it.

Ideal Reader:
A reader who likes to back a Villain or loves a villain redemption arc. With the complexity of themes explored I’d recommend 16 & up.
A reader who wants to read about difficult societal and political topics in a fantasy realm.

Cutest Comic con romance 4.5 - rounded up

*mm romance
*neurodivergent lead
*anxiety rep
*cinnamon roll romance

I really enjoyed the way the book was written its dialogue , description light & text messages.
Having gonna to a few comic conventions myself the setting and description are written by a true comic-con fan. The details were all authentic.

If you enjoyed Ashley Poston - Once upon a Con Series - the love beacon gives you all the best part of that in a rainbow inclusive way.

Ideal Reader:
Someone who likes to read cute romances. Fans of comic-con culture. People with anxiety or who are neurodivergent looking for a romance in which they see themselves.

"I think you have made a mistake," said Winterbourne. "You should sometimes listen to a gentleman—the right one."

I read this as part of the Rory Gilmore challenge.

Henry James use of words like “Well!" ejaculated Miss Miller,” are sexual charged and read strangely but interestingly

Daisy Miller is a headstrong American women who wouldn’t be out of place nowadays. This book is interesting as a historical account. Daisy miller is modern women which makes her a very likable character. But the eras is drenched in misogyny and pre-globalisation isolationism.

Their is illness representation which was actually okay - the book describes her headaches as constant problem & one of the characters who asks “surely she doesn’t have a headache everyday” The book explains maybe not be the condition is relentless.
