I’m going to preface this by saying that I’ve never read a rom-com before.

There were definitely some parts of this book that I really enjoyed but overall I didn’t like it as much as I probably could. I really loved Frederick and Cassie for the most part and while the timeline seemed a little short (obviously you can only fit so much into one book) they had very good chemistry. I’m not sure if this is something that is popular in rom-coms but the pop culture references were so annoying to me after a certain point and a big reason that I’ve rated this book how I have. The resolution to the “big” conflict near the end of the book irritated me so bad because it was absolutely ridiculous and not in a comedic way. Overall I enjoyed the characters enough that I feel pretty confident giving this a 3 star rating.

The world we get to explore in Forged by Blood is very beautiful. I really enjoyed the world building and the magic system was so interesting to me. I feel like the first half of this book was pretty good, however with the second half of the book we started to receive a bunch of twists all at once. Everytime we were hit with a new shocking piece of information we would get 3 more twists within the next couple of pages and I feel like we never got time to sit with it and really see how Dèmi processes everything. The romance in this book was poorly done in my opinion. The “love triangle” was very odd to me because I felt as though Dèmi didn’t have any chemistry with either of them. There was some fun banter that came from it but overall neither relationship was very convincing. There’s also a lot of things that I felt could be expanded on a bit more and hopefully we will see some of that in the sequel. All in all I did enjoy this book and will be tuned in when the sequel gets released!

I am genuinely sad that this book is over. I could read at least 200 more pages of these characters I loved them so much. I feel like even though the book itself was pretty short you get a pretty good understanding of who the characters are and their motivations. I honestly can’t say enough good things about this book.

I read this book when I was about 13 and I still own it so I decided to give it a reread after about 10 years. I really enjoyed this book. There are improvements that could be made of course but overall I think this is a great story and something that can help young people. I do think the cover is a bit misleading however because although there is a bit of romance the overall theme of this story is mostly about bullying and the effects of bullying. This is a very easy read in the sense that it is quite short and fast paced however it does talk about some heavy topics.

For once I think I’m actually happy I watched the show first. The book itself is good and I enjoyed the story. The reason I give it 3 stars is because of Daphne. I absolutely love Simon and I loved Daphne up until that scene. Simon is such an amazing character and I genuinely loved him. All in all I did enjoy the book for the most part and will definitely be reading through the series to see what happens with the remaining Bridgertons. Also side note I absolutely LOVE book Colin he’s actually great.

The scene where him and Daphne are arguing after she realizes he mislead her where he says “all he cared about was the title. he never gave a single thought to me, about how i must feel, trapped with a m-mouth that didn’t w-work!” was just so incredibly sad. However I was a bit frustrated with the almost instantaneous change of heart that Simon had near the end of the book when he just suddenly decided that he was going to change his whole life view after what Daphne did to him.

it’s not a bad book but i kept forcing myself to pick it up unfortunately. i just don’t think i really fell in love with the characters and it was throwing me off. i’ll definitely revisit in the future to give it another shot but i could feel it start to put me in a reading slump.
