As a lover of mysteries and escape rooms, I really enjoyed this book! It was a super fun and easy middle grade read!
Cute read. Love a bodyguard trope but I had a hard time getting into it. I liked the pageant setting!

I know God has to be a woman because no man has a sense of humor this good.
“Clumsy girls are the best girls. We’re having too much fun to worry about silly things like gravity.”

How have I never heard of this author before?! Regardless, I am so glad this was my first book from her. It was fantastic (hehe) and HILARIOUS!! I found myself cackling so much. The banter not just between the main characters but even between all of the side characters with the main characters were SO GOOD. Flint does such an amazing job with Harrison and they way Harrison was written to represent autism was done incredibly well. The only thing was I felt like the end was a bit rushed. I wouldn't have minded an extra 50 pages for some of the closing pieces. But overall, definitely will be reading more of this author. If you like TL Swan, you need to also pick up Jewel E Ann!

"Sometimes the world ends and forgets to take you with it. I get it."
"It's interesting how our self-worth is so dependent on our capabilities - how little confidence comes from within."
"Thinking is what people do when they're not following their dreams."

This book was just as perfect as all the others in the series. This series ha smy whole heart. While you can read this as a standalone, it definitely hits better as a closer to the series, especially in the well rounded and reflective epilogue. All the characters are so incredibly loveable. I thought the dual timeline was done really well.
Gah this book was so cute. I love the "always been you" pining as well as a second chance romance with the main characters being childhood lovers. Everything was so sweet. So happy for baby Rio. I devoured this book and had the giddiest grins and blushing moments. I really liked the concept/premise of the music/song involvement. It made for such special moments - I mean, we talk about wedding songs or what your couple song is dating. Why not have a playlist for all the special moments in your life/year? I love it. Makes me want to start yearly playlists now.

"I pick a song when something cool or important happens so I can remember it. Then when I want to relive a moment, I rewind it back and start the song from the beginning."
"Rio, playing for Boston is your childhood dream."
I shake my head. "You're my childhood dream."

If you're looking for a groundhog day like plot/book... I don't recommend this one. Might I recommend The Do-Over by Lynn Painter or In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren? This had potential and I liked that each new day the FMC was able to change something to better her life, as is the point of the groundhog day type of plot but something was really off about it. I didn't like Emma at all and didn't feel like she redeemed herself. If anything I felt super bad for Dan. I did like the open ending for readers and I loved that the main characters wrote letters (or at least Dan did) every year on their anniversary.
Oh baby James ... How fun to have your story and see you as an adult. Loved the Shatter Me cameos of Warner, Adam, Juliette, and Kenji. It's an interesting take for the story of the new reestablishment. I'm excited to see what's next for James & Rosabelle.
I have missed my romantic suspense reads! I have to say .... I had my suspicions early on and was able to identify the culprit! I don't think it was predictable, I think I just had an over creative mind when it comes to mystery solving haha. I enjoyed the mystery and plot with this read! Catherine Cowles is quickly becoming a fav!

Some people got too fixated on that. So obsessed with health and safety that they forgot to truly live.
“I don’t think speaking the truth is ever a bad thing, especially not if it’s done with kindness and goodwill.”
“It just means we have to hold onto the good that much more. The only thing that can cast out darkness is light.”
“Sometimes life teaches you lessons early.”
“It’s your choice how it changes you.”
"You’re never alone because you carry your sister with you.”
“She’s always been a piece of you, and she always will be. And you honor her every day of your life.”

I hate this series because all I do is feel things and cry dang it. I know this novella is supposed to be read after Powerless but I read it after reading the series and I am hurt all over again. You know the outcome going into it and yet you fall so hard for the characters and get your heart broken with every chapter. Love it. The characters were done so well in this short book. Already want a reread of this series.
I can't decide if I liked this or not so it was just fine for me but I would still recommend it as a decent read! The unrequited love and the journey of healing from the two main characters I thought were done really well! I didn't expect the slight plot twist or my heart to break a little and I honestly thought this book would end on a sadder note but we got a happy ending, so that was nice.
"Nobody is too old to worry about what their momma thinks."
"Because it doesn't matter what the rest of the world thinks, every child should be told that they're beautiful by their parents."
