I was really looking forward to reading this because I was very interested in how she'd cover the whole 'mad' part of the title. I hadn't watched the E4 show so I didn't have any preconceptions, but I do generally enjoy diary style books so I thought I'd enjoy it.
It was...alright. She didn't really cover the mental health issues in much detail, it was just a passing mention. She did cover the 'fat' part of the diary quite a lot and it was interesting for a while but it got very repetitive and though I didn't like myself for thinking it I did wish that she'd just start losing weight (or at least find someone who'd love her for who she was with no pretences)
I get that this is Rae Earl's real life diary, and it's probably for that reason that it wasn't as eventful as I'd hoped, and so I feel like I'm being unfair for judging it so harshly for being boring when it's somebody's life.
Overall it was just ok, very average and I was disappointed. And I can't help but wonder what happened to everyone in the book, seeing as it's Rae's life she'd know and so should update us!

There was way too much going on in this book, and it all hit after quite a slow start. I found it hard to care about any of the characters and thought the various situations Cannie found herself in were underdeveloped, like the author had no idea what she wanted to happen so just wrote whatever. I found it really difficult to read because I didn't like it. This was my third Jennifer Weiner book and I thoroughly enjoyed the first two so I'm disappointed with this.
