Beautifully written, and full of love and loss. The characters were rich and I loved how they warred with their own emotions, and had to sort thru not only who they would be loyal to, but also the political minefield of Italy during WW2. It’s a great lesson in the need to learn every side of a doctrine and value system and not just take it for face value or what someone else told you, as Italians did with fascism. And to sacrifice for others and love, over running towards ambition or wanting to prove yourself.

I love how there are little nonchalant re-introductions of characters chapters later that you’re yelling at everyone NO! Or something of the sort because they’re about to do something stupid and don’t know better. As with all the series, just really well written and easily invested.

Loved both August and Josie as main characters. The patience and reluctance, fear and selflessness in their relationship made for such an endearing and heartfelt story. Loved that whole progression.

The families and friends of both were great as well - with their loyalty and selflessness. Dalma is probably my favorite lol. And the camp and art focus was fantastic - loved the autistic kids being highlighted for one camper groups too.

I wish the audiobook for this included the authors note that was at the beginning of the Kindle book, assuring this really is the 2nd book. It would have saved me 15 min scouring the internet trying to figure out how I missed a book in between with the way it started.

I liked this one as well, kept you guessing and tons of twists and turns in the story as well as both the beauty and barbarity of life in the highlands during the 18th century and turmoil with the English. And of course with the continued romance between Jamie and Claire.

I didn’t feel quite as drawn in as I did with the 1st book tho. There we’re periods that, while necessary to the story, lost me a little and didn’t keep my attention. But overall it was equally well written.
