Really fun and interesting read. So many layers that added to the story, and loved the humor.

Cute, it was an amusing look at family dysfunction and working thru it. Not my favorite of Sophie Kinsella’s but It was heartwarming as the characters learned how to love each other and learn how to work thru difficulty rather than glossing over confrontation when it was needed. Admittedly some of it was a little anxiety inducing at the beginning but I enjoyed it.

I’ve never heard of the stories of Communism in Romania or the revolution in 1989 but gosh, the environment those people lived in sounds more like WW2 ish era, not something from while I was alive. The constant anxiety and fear. Very well written, although I wish it was longer, honestly. It had you second guessing things, and while I had figured most of it out, it wasn’t super apparent.

A very realistic and honest look into the emotional struggle with infertility with couples, and also with the tension of motherhood - both the moments of fulfillment and love and the deep exhaustion. Well written.

This is, quite honestly, the best parenting book I’ve ever read (listened to). It not only focuses on communication with your kids by itself but using communication to instill into your child self-worth and confidence by teaching them to think for themselves in a constructive and affirming manner, and helping diffuse frustration as a parent in the process. It’s a lot of work and not easy, yes, but energy that pays in such dividends I’m sure of.

The book not only clearly conveys how both constructive and deconstructive (or even destructive) communication can be used, but gives clear and multi-faceted examples of how to do this with your kids that are easy to apply and relate to.

I wish I had read this book years ago, but I’ll for sure be applying what I’ve learned for my now 15, 12, and 9 year old kids. I can also see how I could employ so many of these skills to those I teach and communicate with, since part of my job is training other staff members at my job.

And now I will be going back to listen to this again to make sure I retain as much as I can. Wholeheartedly recommend.
