Well written and such a great new (to me) aspect of WW2 that I’d never heard of. I’ve read a lot on the subject but this is the first that I’ve read from the viewpoint of Canadians in the war, being stationed in Hong Kong and some of the POW stories. It also spoke to a large infiltration of Nazi agenda and anti-semitism in Canada at the time. I had no idea Nazi-ism had come so close to home in the ‘30s. Really enjoyed this book.

Such a great emphasis on women being just as good as men and proving it during the 50s’ very misogynistic environment, and fighting such an uphill battle to do so. Really loved the parts of women supporting women as well. It had a heavy thread of grief thru the majority of it, as well as displaying so much of the awful (yet realistic) treatment of women which just felt devastating at times.

I wouldn’t call it a light book, but a very very inspiring one for sure. Some things I didn’t agree with or care for but overall I really enjoyed it and it was a super fast and interesting read.

A heartfelt and endearing story of friendships, heartache, grace and forgiveness. Well written and the imperfection in the friendships revealed the realism in them. The 4 friends all had flaws and so often Addy bore the brunt of a lot of wounds you just wanted to save her from. So often in girl friendships it’s not far from the truth so it was easy to identify with and understand. And loved the relationship Rosaline and Porschea had as well. How there was both compassion and challenge.

It wasn’t a story where everything was perfect and easy. It spoke of pain and hurt, betrayal and wounded decisions. But ultimately gave way to honesty, reconciliation and acceptance. There were no easy answers given, and rightly so. Great character development all the way around.

Loved the plot twist at the end also. I saw little bits that I was trying to reconcile in the story but did not fully see that coming.

This was just ok. It was the pick for the book club I’m in, and while interesting it’s not really up my alley. It felt like having a conversation with someone who spends 20 minutes telling you about their week when all you asked them was what they bought at Target that morning.... I did like how all the characters came together in the end tho.

I really thought that was a lot of fun. The witty banter and snarky humor made it entertaining and an easy read that was hard to put down. Loved the friendships between the women and how much they stuck up for each other and played to each others strengths. While the end point was fairly easy to nail down for the most part, it was all the connecting dots that still left you guessing. I’m not usually into assassin type books but I enjoyed this one.
