It was an interesting premise, following the fictionalized, yet partially based in truth, story of how Tatiana Romanov, daughter of the last Tsar of Russia, fell in love with a soldier, Dimiti Malaya, during WW1.

The story follows Dimitri’s fictional great granddaughter and her discovery of her grandfather and his disjointed and difficult past as she deals (or *doesn’t* deal) with her own difficulties. Although parts of it were slow at times, and some of the moral dilemmas made me a bit sad that they ended up that way, it held my attention overall. It was also interesting being that I lived in Albany and visited Lake George and Indian Lake as a kid.
