Interesting look at a child disappearance and what it does to those left years later. I liked the difference perspectives and voices on the audio.

The bones of this were good - undercover DEA in a drug cartel, human trafficking rescue, arranged/forced marriage, etc. But so much of the romance-related dialogue was cheesy and just plain cringey, and there were weird plot or description holes to it as well. I wish it had focused more on the action/storyline between the MCs and less on the raunchy scenes that sort of felt forced and unrealistic.

DID NOT FINISH: 26%

DNF at 26%. I wasn’t a fan of the characters and the whole thing felt so abrupt at the start, like I was just thrown into the story. It had very little real character development and was just really repetitive.

But, ugh, the new cover is so gorgeous it makes me want to like it….

This was definitely more on the crime drama side than the thriller side, which is what I was expecting. Even though it wasn't really up my alley, I thought it was well done with all the red herrings and making you second guess yourself, although the whodunit was ultimately who I had called early on. The details and all the trauma/abuse in the family setting was extremely sad though.

This was fascinating and strange and enchanting and thought-provoking. It was like stories within stories within stories. Sort of felt like a mix of Alice in Wonderland and name-your-own-adventure books, and also a little conspiracy/secret society.

Loved the concepts of people being what’s important and worthwhile over places/things/shoulds, and the importance or impact of stories and possibilities and choices.

Also I loved that I had no concept of what was going to happen next and was so sucked into the story in the process. The writing was phenomenal the way it did that. It’s not a fast read by any measure but it was such a rich one.

Enjoyed the complexity of the story between Allie and Hudson. It wasn’t super predictable and I was surprised by a couple twists in the story I didn’t expect. Juniper also was such a great addition and her threads gave such a great depth to the story.

Willow may be one of my favorite characters. And I think I'm just a sucker for anyone who is the underdog/punching bag even though they put others first like Cam. So so good - heartbreaking, emotional, and lovely.

Funny and endearing. It took me a little to get into it at first, some of the dialogue and gen z slang was a bit cheesy, and the constant references to Madison being hot got old fast. But after about 30% it was hard to put down. Great banter also.

Well written, though I felt a little annoyed at the dynamic of the siblings at times. Liam did things on his own without asking for help, and while the book talked about this it got kind of old that he didn’t care enough to change it. And Leo was constantly causing drama. The romance part felt a little fast moving for ppl who rarely saw each other.  But overall it was a good story with some good friendships.
