While the story itself was interesting, it jumped around so much and had so many minute details that were not necessary to the story, it instead made it seem like it went on and on forever and was difficult to get thru.

It was nice to have an off shoot story between Whose Waves These Are and Yours is the Night. But I’ve re-read over the epilogue and last chapters of Yours is the Night a few times trying to find Maggie and it only talked about the 2 sons, even tho her age would put her at about 1919?

I really enjoy reading anything about 9/11 just because I remember it so well and lived in upstate NY at the time. The parallels between the 2 events in NYC - 9/11/01 WTC attacks and the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire in 1911 - was an interesting one to make as well, and I loved Dolly and Ethan and how caring they were towards Clara even when she constantly pushed them away.

That being said I liked Taryn’s portion of the story better than Clara’s. I’ve read briefly about the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire before, and the Ellis Island aspect was a new one, but I just didn’t like Clara’s character. I get that she was grieving but she was still pretty self absorbed and rude quite often to those trying to help her. For sure grief can cause some of that but not constantly.

I don’t usually tear up at most books but the depth of Blue’s raw emotions had me there on more than one occasion. Ms Harmon, as she usually does, describes her characters’ thoughts and feelings in such a deep and descriptive way. I could feel the sorrow, the hurt, and the hope Blue felt when she felt it, understood her need to protect herself by negative behavior and cutting words, hoped so much for love and acceptance for her.

It was hopeful, painful, inspiring, sorrow-filled and love-risking. I loved the slow transformation in Blue, how she stood her ground for herself and while she could have hardened herself multiple times she kept fighting for what she knew she wanted even when it was the harder route. All the pieces at the end were beautiful too.

I love stories of redemption and someone who is willing to see beyond the facade and the hurt for who the person really is. Another great love story for the series and love the tie ins with all the characters, and the friendship and bond the men had.
