A fascinating insight to a modern day cult. Sam Brower takes the reader on the journey of his investigation and gives insight into the process with government entities along the way. I would have liked to have heard from the victims more, but ultimately the book is more the author’s experience investigating the FLDS than the story of the cult itself. I appreciated that Brower declared his own biases as a member of the LDS faith without these interfering with his storytelling in an intrusive manner.
Prisoners of Geography: Ten Maps That Tell You Everything You Need to Know About Global Politics
This was a disappointing read. This is a very shallow look at the impact geography has on the development and politics of nation states. The writing is clinical and it was a struggle to complete. There were a few shining moments of interesting analysis that kept me reading and prevented this from being a 1 star review, but they were few and far between.
