the book’s unwavering need to use sexism and slut shaming to progress the plot and establish world building…. tasteless. it wouldn’t have been so bad if the protag denounced it all but she was part of the problem.

wally was an incredibly compelling character but to equate his healing with reclaiming his sexuality while NEVER addressing his lifetime of trauma related to physical abuse and knowledge that he has no right to deny consent was to diminish his suffering just so you could write sex scenes.
